Immediately use clothing to tightly plug the anus and vagina, lift the patient, untie the rope, place them in a supine position, pull the hair upward, rub the neck marks, straighten the trachea, have one person step on both shoulders, and another person blow air into both ears using two tubes. Alternatively, pierce the comb of a rooster (hen for female patients) and drip fresh blood into the mouth; nasal breathing will resume.
Flex and extend the patient's limbs, massage with hands to promote the circulation of Qi and Blood, then blow powdered *Zao Jiao* (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit) into the nasal cavity. Do not cut the rope. Even if rescued from morning until evening, with a cold body, there is still hope for life.
Another method: Lower the patient slowly, untie the rope, and administer a decoction of 3 qian of high-quality *Rou Gui* (Cinnamon Bark).
The *Lei Zhen Jun Huo Ren Lu* (Record of Lord Lei Zhenju Saving Lives) records the divine method of Master Qi for saving "Five Extinctions" (Wu Jue). "Five Extinctions" refer to hanging death, fall death, nightmare death, drowning death, and crushing death. People often face disasters suddenly and fail to rescue. However, in such deaths, the Five Zang organs have not completely ceased function; it is an unjust death caused by external trauma. The soul remains near the corpse. If summoned by divine arts, the soul can return to the body, and the person can be revived. Write a divine talisman on yellow paper, burn it in hot yellow wine, pry open the teeth, and pour it into the throat. Then use "Jue Xian Dan" (Elixir for Saving the Extinct), mixed with yellow wine. Let the person hold the liquid in their mouth, and deliver it into the throat via a green onion tube. They will revive shortly.
There is no incantation; simply focus your mind on the Heavenly Medical Envoy of Lord Lei Zhenju while writing the talisman, and it will be incredibly effective.
Formula for Jue Xian Dan (Elixir for Saving the Extinct):
*Ren Shen* (Ginseng Root) and *Ban Xia* (Pinellia Tuber) (each 3 qian); *Shan Yang Xue* (Wild Goat Blood), *Shi Chang Pu* (Acorus Rhizome), and *Zhi Su Ye* (Prepared Perilla Leaf) (each 2 qian); *Hong Hua* (Carthamus Flower), *She Xiang* (Musk), and *Zao Jiao Ci* (Gleditsia Spine) (each 1 qian).
Grind all into powder. Make pills the size of a longan pit with honey. Dissolve in wine before administration. Preparation is best done on the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu). For emergency preparation, one-tenth of the amount is sufficient. This formula is extremely miraculous; preparing a batch occasionally can save lives. If time is short, this formula not only saves "Five Extinctions" but also those comatose due to evil influences or sudden collapse, reviving the dead. (From *Mi Lu*)
For hanging death, absolutely do not cut the rope with knives or scissors. Hold the patient, press the vagina and anus with your knees to untie the rope, drip chicken comb blood into the nostrils, and blow air into the ears with a pen tube to revive.
For all sudden deaths, grind raw *Ban Xia* (Pinellia Tuber) into fine powder and blow it into the nasal cavity to revive.
Wang Jinqiao stated: In cases of suicide by hanging, others often follow suit at the same location, or multiple people hang themselves, commonly known as "seeking a substitute." It is said that the ghost of the deceased haunts the living to take their place. This is a vague, illusory, and absurd claim that confuses the world and deceives the people; surely gentlemen do not wish to hear such things? However, the Analects state that Confucius did not speak of strange phenomena. "Not speaking" implies they exist but are not discussed, not that they are non-existent. In my hometown, a Zhang family barely made ends meet. The husband slept first, while the wife continued needlework. A thief climbed the wall at night to steal but hesitated to enter, watching from outside the window. He saw a ghost woman beside the bed laughing then crying, bowing and kneeling repeatedly to the wife. The wife looked several times, sighed deeply, and shed tears. The thief was startled and watched intently. The wife tidied her clothes, seeming reluctant to act immediately. The ghost woman bowed again. Finally, the wife decided to hang herself. The thief panicked, shouted loudly, but the husband snored and didn't hear. With no other way, the thief grabbed a bamboo pole from under the eaves and threw it through the window lattice at the ghost woman, waking the husband. The thief urged him to open the door and help rescue. The wife did not know why she sought death; the husband did not ask who was knocking; and the thief forgot he was a thief. Afterwards, everyone recounted details. Opening the wall beside the bed revealed remnants of an old hanging rope near the beam. Though rotten, the shape and traces were clear. Thus, secular legends may not be entirely baseless absurdities. According to elders' secret methods for exorcism, of unknown origin, some are effective. When a victim is still hanging, secretly mark the spot below them. After lowering them, place an iron tool or large stone on that spot. Dig deeply around the four sides of the weight. Inspect layers of soil, depths of 3-5 cun, 1 chi, or 2-3 chi. You will likely find bone-like objects (e.g., chicken bones). Remove and discard or burn them to prevent recurrence. This has proven effective repeatedly, though the mechanism is inexplicable. Timely digging yields shallow results easily; delayed digging requires deeper excavation, usually within 8-9 chi. Though seemingly absurd, practice shows evidence. Perhaps as sages said, "The earth is vast; what does it not contain?" We know logically it shouldn't exist, but emotionally it might. I record this to dispel doubts among commoners, which may serve as a preventive measure against suicide. (From *Yu Chu Xin Zhi*)
The *Xin Fa* states: Deep rope marks indicate difficult treatment.
It also states: Cases from morning to evening are treatable; cases from night until dawn are difficult to treat.
Gu Cheng stated: To rescue hanging victims, urgently hold the patient, untie the knot, and never cut the rope. Rub the neck marks, straighten the trachea, and massage the chest and abdomen. Touch the mouth and nose, or perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Have one person step on the shoulders and pull the hair upward constantly. Keep the head elevated. Have another person press the anus firmly with a knee or cloth-wrapped hand; for women, also press the vagina to prevent air leakage. If limbs are rigid, flex them into a seated meditation posture. Urgently blow air into both ears using two tubes. Blow raw *Ban Xia* (Pinellia Tuber) powder into the nostrils. Needle the Renzhong (GV26) acupoint below the nose. Moxibustion on Yongquan (KI1) acupoint on the soles of the feet: three moxa cones for men on the left foot, for women on the right foot. Pierce the rooster's comb for men, hen's comb for women, and drip blood into the mouth to calm the Spirit. Administer *Su He Wan* (Styrax Pill) dissolved in ginger tea. If unavailable, use strong ginger tea. Continue all rescue efforts until breath exits the mouth, respiration returns, and eyes open. Only then stop. After revival, allow small sips of rice gruel to moisten the throat; do not give solid food abruptly. Following this method, survival is assured.
Furthermore: Acupuncture, moxibustion, and dripping chicken comb blood are methods I collected from medical texts and have verified. However, they require the chest to be warm, no fecal incontinence, tongue not protruding, confirmed voluntary suicide without coercion, and relatives present to assist. If the case involves suspicion or potential litigation, caution is advised. Please use discretion.
Fresh wild goat heart blood (2-3 li), ground extremely fine, administered with wine, can revive instantly. (From *Pu Jiu*)
