If external contraction is severe, add Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 1 qian), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 0.5 fen), and Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba, 0.5 fen); temporarily remove Huangqin, Huanglian, and Shengdi Huang. If there is heat-toxin in the Stomach of the Yangming channel, presenting with irritability, fever, thirst, absence of sweating, coldness in the back, and macules/rashes that are black or purple, rapidly add Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 liang), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, 1.5 qian), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, 1 qian), and Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, 0.5 fen); remove Fangfeng and Jiegeng. Decoct in water. Take on an empty stomach in the morning and evening. (The above prescription treats Yang-deficiency with Blood-heat, Qi-heat, and Blood-heat. It is suitable for patients who fear cold and prefer warmth, have clear and free urination and defecation, do not feel thirsty but desire hot drinks, and present with deep, fine, rapid, or deficient and spiritless pulses in all six positions.
