Shen Douyuan stated: Feiju (Lung Carbuncle) is also known as Tianhuochuang (Heavenly Fire Sore). It belongs to the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) meridian and arises on the chest. Located at the Zigong (Purple Palace) and Yutang (Jade Hall) acupoints, it can be punctured within ten days of onset. If the pus and exudate are yellowish-white, the condition is treatable. If there is no pus and the swelling gradually enlarges, with hardness on the sides, upper fullness, and lower deficiency, spontaneous rupture with continuous discharge of fluid, and pain triggered by coughing and expectoration, indicates a fatal prognosis. (From *Qixuan*)
Wang Kentang stated: Shanzhongju (Shanzhong Carbuncle) arises between the two breasts above the epigastric region. It belongs to the Shanzhong (Chest Center) acupoint of the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) meridian. Since Shanzhong is the Sea of Qi, where Qi resides and distributes Yin and Yang, disharmony of Yin and Yang in the Zang-Fu organs or imbalance of the Seven Emotions can trigger this syndrome. Delayed treatment leads to ulceration; cases with multiple malignant signs are difficult to treat. (From *Zhunsheng*)
The *Lingshu* (Spiritual Pivot) states: A carbuncle arising in the chest is called Jingju (Well Carbuncle). Its appearance is like a bean. If untreated from the third or fourth day, and if the pathogen sinks into the abdomen, it becomes incurable, leading to death within seven days.
Wang Kentang stated: A carbuncle arising in the epigastric region, initially resembling a soybean in size with unchanged skin color, is called Jingju (Well Carbuncle), also known as Chuanxin Leng (Piercing Heart Cold). If cold pathogenic factors attack the Heart, causing mental confusion, vomiting of cold phlegm, aversion to food odors, internal sinking of toxic heat, and abdominal distension, it is incurable. If there is inner dryness and heat like fire, skin fever like burning, frequent night sweats, cracked lips, dry yellow tongue, and thirst for cold water, these are the typical manifestations. (From *Zhunsheng*)
Shen Douyuan stated: Jingju (Well Carbuncle) is also known as Xinlouju (Heart Fistula Carbuncle) or Chuanxindu (Piercing Heart Toxin). It is extremely difficult to treat. Some cases persist for years due to excessive consumption of raw, cold, and unappetizing foods, causing accumulated toxicity that internally invades the Pericardium Luo (Connecting Vessels). Thus, it manifests externally covering the Heart area, representing syndromes of both the Heart and Stomach meridians. The treatment follows the same principles as Yongju (Carbuncles and Ulcers). (From *Qixuan*)
Wang Shengzhi stated: Jingju (Well Carbuncle) belongs to the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) meridian, located at the Jiutui (Tailbone Tip) acupoint, appearing like a large soybean. Within three to four days, if not treated early, death will occur within ten days. External manifestation indicates survival; internal sinking indicates death. (From *Lili*)
