Chen Shigong stated: Itching in the interdigital spaces of women is caused by wind-dampness from the three Yang meridians flowing downward, condensing and failing to disperse. Therefore, itching occurs first, followed by dampness and ulceration. Similarly, itching and dampness may occur in the creases of the soles of the feet. (*Waike Zhengzong* / *Standardized Surgery*)
Shen Douyuan stated: Damp ulceration of the interdigital spaces is due to damp-heat pouring downward, or walking barefoot into water while the feet are hot, resulting in broken skin between the toes. For those who naturally have abundant damp-heat, allowing the fluid to drain does not require medical treatment, as the damp-heat is vented outward. If astringent/drying medicines are suddenly used to dry it up, it will instead aggravate internal damp-heat complications. (*Qixuan Mizhi* / *Mystic Principles of Qixuan*)
He also stated: After prolonged rain and flooding, walking barefoot through the water causes the interdigital spaces to become damp, ulcerated, and form sores, making walking painful due to severe pain. First, wash and wipe with Alum Decoction (Fan Tang). Then, use Litharge (Mi Tu Seng, red), placed on the ground to remove fire toxicity, grind it into an extremely fine powder, and sprinkle it on the lesion. Walking can be resumed the next day.
Hu Gongbi stated: When small blisters initially appear in the interdigital spaces, causing itching, ulceration, and weeping of toxic fluid, this is a syndrome of dampness infiltrating and spreading. It should be treated with Shenying San. (*Qingnang Mishuan* / *Secret Transmissions of Qingnang*)
Kufan San (Dried Alum Powder)
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Qingfen (Calomelas), Huangdan (Lead Tetroxide) (each 3 qian), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum) (5 qian).
Grind uniformly. Wash with warm water and apply the powder; the itching will cease immediately.
Another Prescription (from *Jisheng Bacuì* / *Extracts from Jisheng*)
Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis, stir-fried until charred) (1 liang), Songxiang (Pini Resina), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum), Shuiyin (Hydrargyrum), Qian (Plumbum) (each 5 qian, ground together with Hydrargyrum until the mercury disappears, known as "dead"), Xionghuang (Realgar) (3 qian).
Grind all into a fine powder. First, wash the area with a decoction of Lizhicao (Plantago asiatica L.), then sprinkle this powder on it.
Mituo Seng San (Litharge Powder)
Mituo Seng (Litharge), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum) (each 2 qian), Qingfen (Calomelas) (1 qian).
Grind finely. Mix with Tung Oil (Tongyou) for application; if the area is wet, sprinkle the dry powder directly.
Another Method: Roast goose web skin until dry, grind into a fine powder, and sprinkle on the lesion. Applying with Sesame Oil (Xiangyou) is also effective.
Another Method: Roast Songluo tea leaves, grind into a fine powder, and sprinkle on the lesion.
Another Method: Smoke the lesion with burning straw bundles.
Another Method: Soak and wash with a decoction of Choushu flower (likely referring to a specific local plant, literally "stinky tree flower").

Another Method:
Caozhimei (Soot from grass paper), Shipen (Face powder used by women) (equal parts). Grind finely and sprinkle dry.
