Prescription: Roast Fenugreek Seed (Fenugreci Semen) until dry, grind into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with Quince Wine (Chapeci Fructus Infusum) for oral administration.
Chen Shigong stated: "Tiqi" (Body Odor), also known as "Huqi," is commonly referred to as fox odor or fox stench. This condition may be inherited from parents or congenital, thus inherent to one's original constitution. Individuals with this condition often have several brownish pores in the axillary region that emit this odor. It should be treated by applying Wuxiang San (Five-Aromatic Powder) to resolve the smell. (From *Zhengzong*)
Gu Shicheng stated: When treating axillary osmidrosis, after applying medication, one must wear new clothes. If only old clothes are available, they must be washed thoroughly with ash water at noon and soaked to remove odors from the sleeves until no scent remains. If the odor is not completely removed from the clothing, even effective medicines will be futile. Generally, medicines are effective; the failure to cure permanently is usually due to residual odors on reused clothing.
Fox odor should not be allowed to come close to the body: Take one large spider. Mix it with a small amount of yellow clay, Red Halloysite (Halloysitum Rubrum), and salt. Pound the mixture into a paste to form a nest-like structure, placing the spider inside. First, bake slowly over low heat until dry, then gradually increase the fire intensity until red. Allow to cool, then retrieve the spider. Add 1 fen of Calomel (Calomelas), grind finely, and mix with Rice Vinegar (Oryzae Sativae Fermentum) to form a paste. Before going to bed, wash the axillae clean, apply the paste, and wash off the discharged black fluid and foul matter the next morning, which indicates efficacy. Bury these fluids in a secluded place to avoid contaminating others. Do not wear old clothes under any circumstances; exercise utmost caution.
Another prescription: Take one large river snail (Cipangopaludina chinensis), keep it in water. Wait for the operculum to open, then use a needle to insert one seed of Croton Tiglium (Crotonis Fructus). Wipe the snail dry, place it upside down in a cup, and wait for it to dissolve into liquid. Use this liquid to rub the axillae.
Wujia San (Priceless Powder):
Mercurius Sublimatus Corrosivus (Hydrargyri Chloridum Corrosivum) 2 qian, Litharge (Lithargyri Oxidum) 2 qian, Alumine Calcination (Alumen Ustun) 4 qian.
Grind together 1,000 times until no mercury stars are visible. Mix with saliva and apply externally.
Another prescription:
Arsenicum Album (Realgar/Orpiment context implies Arsenic compounds, here likely referring to processed arsenic minerals like Pishuang or similar, but strictly 'Sha' refers to Realgar/Orpiment mixtures or specific mineral drugs in ancient texts; WHO term for 'Sha' varies, often associated with Realgar or Orpiment depending on context, here listed alongside other minerals. Note: In modern safety standards, these are toxic. For translation purposes, we use standard terms): Realgar (Realgar), Litharge (Lithargyri Oxidum), Chrysocolla Viridis (Chrysocollae Viridis), Radix Polygoni Multiflori Preparata? No, Baifuzi is Typhonii Rhizoma. Cinnabar (Cinnabaris), White Alum (Alumen). Equal parts.
Grind into fine powder. Wash the axillae two to three times with Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus (Gleditsiae Fructus) water before application. Cure can be expected within two applications.
Another prescription:
Mercurius Sublimatus Corrosivus (Hydrargyri Chloridum Corrosivum), Minium (Minium), Realgar (Realgar), Litharge (Lithargyri Oxidum), Chrysocolla Viridis (Chrysocollae Viridis), Cinnabar (Cinnabaris), White Alum (Alumen), Rhizoma Typhonii (Typhonii Rhizoma), Flesh of White Plum (Pruni Mume Carnis).
Pound together into pills for external rubbing.
Indicated for axillary osmidrosis, crow odor (a type of severe body odor), and intertrigo/sweat in the groin area, conditions that prevent social proximity.
White Alum (Alumen) 1.5 qian, Litharge (Lithargyri Oxidum) 1.5 qian, Minium (Minium) 1.5 qian, Moschus (Moschus) 0.5 fen.
Grind into dust-like fineness. Place the powder in the palm, mix with vinegar, and apply to the axillae. Leave on overnight (approx. two shichen / 4 hours), then wash with decoction of Angelica Dahurica Radix (Dahuricae Radix). Use once daily.
Another prescription:
Alumine Calcination (Alumen Ustun) 2 liang, Litharge (Lithargyri Oxidum) 4 liang, Calomel (Calomelas) 3 qian.
Grind extremely finely and rub onto both axillae. Efficacy may be seen after several months of continuous use, with complete cure expected within half a year.
Another prescription: Take one hot steamed wheat cake (Bing). Split it in half. Sprinkle 1 qian of Litharge powder (Lithargyri Oxidum) on one half. Immediately clamp this half between the armpits. Lie down briefly for a short while. Discard when cooled. If only one axilla is affected, use only one cake.
