Jinsi Chuang (Golden Thread Sore) presents with a shape resembling a thread, varying in thickness and size. If the lesion extends upward to the heart region, it is fatal. The treatment method involves cutting off the head of the sore, pricking it to bleed, and then applying medication for treatment. (From *Jiyan*)
Empirical Formula: Chew *Spirodela polyrrhiza* (Fuping, 浮萍) and apply it to the affected area; it will heal immediately.
Huozhu Chuang (Fire Pearl Sore) presents with a shape resembling a pearl. It initially spreads through infection within the hair and may prove fatal. The heat feels like burning, the surrounding area is red and swollen, while the center contains bright, pearl-like fluid. This condition is caused by excessive accumulation of heat in the Heart and Liver meridians.
Empirical Formula: Mash fresh radish, mix with vinegar, and apply as a compress to the sore.
Shen Douyuan stated: Mental restlessness and irritability, with sores erupting all over the body, appearing red and ulcerated like fire. (From *Qixuan*)
Li Dongyuan stated: Recurrent sores covering the entire body, suppurating and bleeding, red and ulcerated like erysipelas, resembling burns.
Empirical Formula (from Liu Yuxi's *Chuanxin Fang*): Take five eggs, boil them, remove the whites, and keep only the yolks. Add clumps of human hair roughly the size of an egg yolk. Place them together in an iron pot and simmer over charcoal fire. Initially dry, after a short time they char, releasing liquid. Collect this liquid into a bowl until no more is produced. Apply this liquid to the sores, then dust with fine powder of *Sophora flavescens* (Kushen, 苦参); the effect is miraculous.
Erhuang San (Two-Yellow Powder)
*Scutellariae Radix* (Huanglian, 黄连), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai, 黄柏) (each 3 liang), *Adzuki Bean* (Chixiaodou, 赤小豆), *Mung Bean Powder* (Lvdoufen, 绿豆粉) (each 1 liang), *Aqua Calcitae* (Han Shui Shi, 寒水石), *Perilla Leaf* (Zisu, 紫苏), *Rhapontici Rhizoma* (Loulu, 漏芦) (each 7 qian).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with sesame oil for topical application, three times daily.
Dou Hanqing stated: Hanchuang (Cold Sore) causes lesions on the face and whole body resembling cat eyes, which are lustrous but contain no pus or blood. Over time, they appear near the tibia. This is transformed from damp-heat in the Spleen system. It is suitable to take Xionghuang Jiedu Wan (Realgar Detoxification Pill) and Qingji Shen Shi Tang (Clear Muscle and Drain Dampness Decoction). Consuming fish, chicken, green onion, and garlic promotes self-healing. However, carp, [missing character], fish, shrimp, and crab must not be eaten. (From *Quan Shu*)
*Xinfa* stated: Maoyan Chuang (Cat Eye Sore), also known as Hanchuang (Cold Sore), frequently occurs on the face and whole body. It arises from long-standing damp-heat stagnation in the Spleen meridian, compounded by external cold congealing. Initially, the shape resembles a cat eye, shimmering without blood, characterized by intermittent pain and itching. Over time, it approaches the tibia. It is suitable to take Qingji Shen Shi Tang (Clear Muscle and Drain Dampness Decoction) internally, and apply Cuomiao Tie San (Friction Miraculous Paste Powder) externally.
