Chen Shigong stated: "Prolapse of the uterus resembling a snake, accompanied by heaviness, discharge of fluid, and dysuria, is caused by Spleen Qi sinking, with Liver Fire following it." (*Waike Zhengzong*)
Feng Luzhan stated: "Prolapse causing pressure, pain, and swelling, triggered by heavy lifting or sexual fatigue, with continuous clear discharge and dribbling urine, should be treated internally with lifting and tonifying herbs, and externally with powders of Sulfur, Cuttlefish Bone, and Schisandra applied to the area." (*Jinnang*)
He further stated: "Fleshy protuberances protruding from the vagina like snake heads, several inches long, are named Fan Hua Chuang (Flower-Turning Sore). Applying powder of Sulfur causes them to retract."
Wang Shengzhi stated: "For uterine prolapse, it is suitable to take Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) in the morning, Longdan Xiegan Tang (Gentian Liver-Draining Decoction) in the evening, and apply Xionghuang Lilu San externally; the condition will gradually improve." (*Lili*)
Dou Hanqing stated: "Treatment should focus on tonifying the Heart and nourishing the Stomach."
Zhu Danxi stated: "Uterine prolapse, known as Yin Tu, commonly called 'gourd,' is caused by deficiency of both Qi and Blood. It is suitable to take Buzhong Yiqi Tang without Chai Hu, double the dosage of Sheng Ma, and add Yi Mu Cao (Motherwort Herb); externally, paste mashed Castor Bean flesh onto the Bai Hui acupoint on the vertex, and fumigate/wash with a decoction of half a jin of Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus)."
He further stated: "If caused by unfulfilled desires leading to Liver Qi stagnation, there is initially a sensation of blockage during urination, followed by straining. Over time, the uterus descends with the straining. Immediately have a midwife manually reduce the 'gourd.' The patient should lie supine with a pillow under her waist. Use a sneezing powder to induce sneezing to reduce the prolapse. Once reduced, tightly close the vaginal opening, bind the legs firmly with cloth, and administer Buzhong Yiqi Tang."
Xue Ji stated: "Uterine prolapse with牵引 (pulling) pain in the lower back and abdomen may be due to damage to the Bao Luo (uterine ligaments), cold deficiency of the Zi Zang (uterus), improper sexual activity, or excessive effort during childbirth. Treatment should primarily focus on lifting and tonifying Yuan Qi. If due to Liver-Spleen Qi stagnation and Qi deficiency with sinking, use Buzhong Tang. If due to Liver Fire and Damp-Heat with red, scanty, and painful urination, use Longdan Tang."
