[Symptoms of Vomiting Clear Fluid] Aversion to cold and fever, sudden and continuous violent vomiting, expelling clear fluid without mixing with undigested food residue; this is the symptom pattern of vomiting clear fluid.
[Etiology of Vomiting Clear Fluid] It may occur in years with heavy rain and dampness, or during periods where dampness prevails, or when the reversion qi of Taiyin (Spleen/Stomach) acts up. Dampness invades the human body and damages the Stomach Earth, resulting in the condition of vomiting clear fluid.
[Pulse of Vomiting Clear Fluid] The pulse is often floating and soggy (Ru). Floating and slow indicates Wind-Dampness; floating and soggy indicates Cold-Dampness. A floating and soggy pulse suggests the pathogen is in the Exterior; a deep and soggy pulse suggests the pathogen is in the Interior (requiring warming of the Interior).
[Treatment of Vomiting Clear Fluid] If the pulse is floating and the body is hot, use Jingfang Pingwei San (Atractylodes Decoction with Schizonepeta and Saposhnikovia); if the pulse is deep and urination is difficult/stagnant, use Pingwei Wuling San (Combined Atractylodes and Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria Decoction); if the pulse is slow, use Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction).
Jingfang Pingwei San refers to Pingwei San (Atractylodes Decoction) added with Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba) and Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix).
Pingwei Wuling San refers to the combination of Pingwei San (Atractylodes Decoction) and Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria Decoction).
Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) is seen in the preceding text.
Shu Fu Tang (Aconite and Atractylodes Decoction) is seen in the section on Vomiting Clear Fluid due to Dampness.
[Symptoms of Vomiting Clear Fluid] Gurgling water sounds in the epigastrium, a feeling of nausea and desire to vomit, expelling pure clear water, occurring intermittently, without any mixed viscous material; this is named "Ou" (Vomiting of fluids).
[Etiology of Vomiting Clear Fluid] Irregular consumption of water and drinks leads to stagnation and accumulation in the Stomach. Dampness injures the Spleen, which fails to transport fluids upward and distribute them downward, thereby causing the symptom of vomiting clear fluid.
[Pulse of Vomiting Clear Fluid] The pulse is often wiry and slippery. Slippery indicates Phlegm; wiry indicates Fluid retention (Yin). A wiry and slippery pulse is the diagnostic sign for Phlegm-Fluid retention.
[Treatment of Vomiting Clear Fluid] For Phlegm-Fluid retention, use Jupi Banxia Tang (Tangerine Peel and Pinellia Decoction); for Wind-Dampness, use Jiami Shenzhu Tang (Secret Formula Divine Atractylodes Decoction); for excessive Dampness, use Yiwei Cangzhu Wan (Single-Ingredient Atractylodes Pill); for fullness in the chest...
Jupi Banxia Tang: Chenpi (Tangerine Peel, 2 qian), Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome, 2 qian), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, 1 qian).
Jiami Shenzhu Tang: Treats vomiting clear fluid. Ingredients: Shu Cangzhu (Prepared Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Gegen (Pueraria Root), Guangpi (Tangerine Peel), Houpo (Magnolia Bark).
Yiwei Cangzhu Wan: Uses only Cangzhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), steamed or stir-fried, ground into fine powder, and formed into pills using water method.
Banling Pingwei San: Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome), Baifuling (White Poria), Shu Cangzhu (Prepared Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Houpo (Magnolia Bark), Guangpi (Tangerine Peel), Gancao (Licorice Root).
[Symptoms of Vomiting Bitter Fluid] Tidal fever or afternoon/evening fever, vomiting bitter fluid, frequent long sighs. The pathogen is in the Gallbladder, and the rebellion is in the Stomach; bile leakage causes bitter taste in the mouth, and Stomach rebellion causes vomiting of bitter fluid. This is a syndrome caused by external Shaoyang pathogen invading Stomach Earth.
[Etiology of Vomiting Bitter Fluid] Pathogenic heat is abundant in the Shaoyang channel. Stomach Earth is overacted upon by Liver and Gallbladder Qi. The food and drink in the Stomach cannot be transformed and transported, resulting in vomiting of bitter fluid.
[Pulse of Vomiting Bitter Fluid] A large and surging pulse indicates the pathogen is in the Yangming channel; a wiry and rapid pulse indicates the pathogen is in the Shaoyang channel.
[Treatment of Vomiting Bitter Fluid] If the pathogen is in the Yangming channel, use Gegen Qingwei Tang (Kudzu Root Stomach-Clearing Decoction); if the pathogen is in the Shaoyang channel, use Chaihu Qingdan Tang (Bupleurum Gallbladder-Clearing Decoction); if symptoms appear in both channels, combine the two formulas.
Gegen Qingwei Tang: Secret formula treating Yangming vomiting. Ingredients: Gen Ge (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), Zhuru (Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Guangpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
