Wu Qiu stated: Ziheche (Placenta) is the placenta. When a fetus is conceived in the womb, the umbilical cord connects to the placenta, and the placenta connects to the Mingmen (Gate of Life, the root of vitality) of the mother, receiving the mother's protection, integrating the father's essence and the mother's blood, responding to each other. Therefore, using this substance often yields effective results, especially when used for women. This is because it utilizes its original source, following the principle that things of the same kind attract each other. It is beneficial for those without offspring or who have only given birth to daughters, as well as for women with irregular menstruation, history of spontaneous abortion, or difficult labor; taking it will surely lead to having many children. For critical patients on the verge of death, one or two doses can extend life by one or two days. Its efficacy in tonifying Yin is extremely significant, proving reliable in every instance. Long-term use leads to sharp hearing and clear vision, black hair and beard, longevity, and health, possessing the power to rival nature's creation, hence named Dazao Wan (Great Creation Pill).
Formula: One piece of Ziheche (Placenta); males should use a female fetus, females should use a male fetus, preferably from a newborn. Wash clean with rice water, dry on a new tile until crisp, and grind into powder; or steam with light wine until hot, pound, dry, and grind into powder. This preserves the medicinal strength fully and eliminates fire toxicity. Old Gui Ban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum), soaked in child's urine for three days, then fried with su (rendered animal fat) until yellow, 2 liang; or soak in child's urine, clean by grinding on a stone, steam until cooked, dry, and grind, which is particularly excellent. Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), peeled, soaked in salt and wine, stir-fried, 1.5 liang. Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex), peeled, fried with su, 1.5 liang. Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), remove sprouts, soak in wine, dry, 1.2 qian. Fei Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), fleshy variety, 2.5 liang. Add Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) 6 qian, Baifuling (Poria) 2 liang. Place in a silk bag, put in a clay pot, boil in wine seven times. Remove Baifuling and Renshen, do not use them. Pound the Sheng Dihuang into a paste for later use. Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix), remove heart; Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), remove heart; Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), remove rhizome, each 1.2 liang. In summer, add Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) 7 qian. Grind all herbs into powder without letting them touch iron vessels. Mix with the Dihuang paste, use wine and rice paste to make pills the size of small soybeans. Take 80-90 pills per dose, on an empty stomach with salt water decoction; in winter, take with wine. For women, remove Gui Ban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum), add Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 2 liang, use milk to make the paste for pills. For men with spermatorrhea or women with leukorrhea, add Moli Fen (Ostreum Concha Powder) 1 liang.
Physicians of the world often use Yang-tonifying drugs for supplementation, which is not only useless but also harmful. Because pathogenic fire can only stimulate desire, not generate life. Gui Ban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum) and Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) tonify both Yang and Yin; Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) cools blood and nourishes Yin. With the addition of Fuling (Poria) and Sharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) and Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), the action enters the Shaoyin channel. Bai Feixia considered these four ingredients as forming the Tiansheng Yishui Wan (Heaven Generates Water Pill). Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix) protects Lung Qi, preventing fire from flaming upward, allowing Lung Qi to descend to generate Water. However, its nature is descending without ascending. With Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), it stirs up Yuan Qi (Primal Qi), achieving both ascending and descending actions. Thus, combined with Dihuang, it forms the Guben Wan (Root-Firming Pill). Additionally, Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), and Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) are known as Shengmai San (Generate Pulse Powder), all being herbs for the Lung channel. The intention behind this formula's combination is largely based on the Metal (Lung) and Water (Kidney) organs as the source of generation and transformation, adding Ziheche (Placenta) to achieve the Great Creation effect.
One case involved a man with weak constitution and impotence; after taking two doses of this formula, his body improved drastically, and he fathered four sons. A sixty-year-old woman, already frail and exhausted, took this formula and lived to ninety, remaining strong. Another patient lost his voice after illness; after taking this formula, his Qi strengthened and his voice returned. A third patient suffered from flaccidity syndrome, unable to walk for half a year; after taking this formula, he could travel long distances.
