To treat bone-steaming consumptive fever (Gu Zheng Lao Re), emaciation and weakness, spontaneous sweating and night sweats, cough, and various types of bleeding syndromes, where the pulse is floating and knotted (Kou), soft (Ru), deficient and large, or weak, thin, and powerless, this main prescription is suitable.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma; use Korean Ginseng, 1 qian, to tonify Yang and generate Yin) Huang Qi (Astragali Radix; honey-fried, 1 qian, to drain Yin-fire, a warm herb capable of removing great heat) Gan Cao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma; roasted, 0.5 qian, to treat bone-steaming consumptive fever and spontaneous sweating) Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma; remove hairs, honey-fried, 1 qian, avoid iron vessels, to treat bone-steaming night sweats) Qin Jiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix; remove rhizome, 1 qian, to treat transmissive corpse bone-steaming) Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix; avoid iron vessels, to treat transmissive pathogenic qi and bone-steaming) Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex; 1 qian, to treat bone-steaming vexing heat) Suan Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen; salt-fried, 1 qian, to treat bone-steaming consumptive fever) Bie Jia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum; vinegar-fried, 1 qian, to treat labor-heat between emaciated bones, to solidify Qi and tonify Yin) Wu Mei (Mume Fructus; three pieces, to treat deficiency-consumption bone-steaming) Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex; remove woody core, 1 qian).
The above twelve herbs are specific agents for the aforementioned syndromes. If symptoms vary, adjust the prescription according to the specific condition; do not adhere rigidly to a fixed formula. Prepare as one dose, decoct with water until cooked, add one cup of Tong Bian (Child's Urine), mix, and take.
If spontaneous sweating is excessive, add Fu Xiao Mai (Tritici Levis Fructus) a pinch.
If there is a pre-existing history of Chuan Shi Lao (Transmissive Consumptive Disease), add Qing Hao (Artemisiae Annuae Herba) decoction to take together. If the pulse and syndrome indicate intolerance to tonification, reduce the dosage of Ren Shen and Huang Qi, add Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Dong Tian (Asparagi Radix), and Dong Hai (Ophiopogonis Radix). If cough is present, add Bei Mu (Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus), Gua Lou (Trichosanthis Fructus), and Bei Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus).
If bone-steaming heat is severe accompanied by thirst, add Huo Wei Shi Gao (Calcitum prepared by fire-roasting) 1 qian.
Mu Dan Pi enters the Hand-Jueyin (Pericardium) and Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) meridians; therefore, it treats bone-steaming without sweat. Di Gu Pi enters the Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) and Hand-Shaoyang (Sanjiao) meridians; therefore, it treats bone-steaming with sweat.
Experience Five Steams Decoction (Jing Yan Wu Zheng Yin): Highly effective for treating bone-steaming heat.
Fu Ling (Poria; select white ones, peel off skin, 0.8 fen) Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix; 0.5 fen) Zhu Ye (Bambusae Folium; 0.5 fen, wash with water) Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma; Qinghe origin is best, 0.5 fen, soaked in Tong Bian) Sheng Huang Qi (Astragali Radix; steamed mixed with Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), 1 qian) Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma; fried with Tong Bian, 0.8 fen) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix; wine-fried, 1 qian) Shi Gao (Calcitum; fire-roasted, 0.7 fen).
Use Jing Mi (Oryza Sativa Japonica Group) 2 he, water 3 zhong. Decoct Xiao Mai (Tritici Levis Fructus) 2 he until reduced to 2 zhong. Remove the wheat grains, keep the wheat decoction, and continue to decoct the medicinal herbs until 1 zhong remains. Take warm. Adjust according to syndrome: Avoid Hai Zao (Sargassum Herba), Song Cai, Wu Yi (Myrobalani Fructus), and Mi Cu (Vinegar).
For excess heat, add Huang Qin, Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), etc.
For deficiency-heat with Qi deficiency, add Wu Mei, Qin Jiao, Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix).
For Blood deficiency, add Qing Hao, Bie Jia, Ge Jie (Geckus), Xiao Mai, Mu Dan Pi.

For Bladder Steaming (Bao Zheng - red and yellow urine), add Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Fu Ling, Sheng Di Huang, Chen Xiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Hua Shi (Talcum).
All these syndromes arise from consuming rich, sweet, greasy foods after febrile diseases, engaging in sexual intercourse, or drinking alcohol, violating taboos. Prolonged steaming leads to Gan accumulation, and death approaches swiftly.
Zi Yin Zhi Bao Tang (Nourishing Yin Precious Treasure Decoction): Treats women with bone-steaming tidal fever, or wheezing/cough/night sweats, or diarrhea/abdominal pain, body pain, or vexation/thirst/emaciation.
