Treats miasma disease presenting with internal true cold and external false heat. Symptoms include throat obstruction and dryness, incessant restlessness, and thirst.
Use Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (5 qian), Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice Root) (3 cun), Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatherum Herb) (14 leaves), Da Zao (Jujube Fruit) (5 pieces), and Qu Pi Da Fu Zi (Peeled Aconite Root) (1 qian). Decoct these ingredients in water and take orally.
Treats miasma disease presenting with internal true cold and external false heat. When symptoms of throat obstruction and dryness, along with incessant restlessness and thirst, occur, this indicates Heat in the Heart and Lungs. The sweetness of Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) can tonify Spleen Qi, generate body fluids, and promote the drainage of phlegm.
The sweetness of Gan Cao (Licorice Root) can harmonize. When these two herbs are combined, they can moderate the Fire of the Heart and Lungs. Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatherum Herb) can relieve restlessness and thirst. Da Zao (Jujube Fruit) can tonify Yuan Qi (Primary Qi). Da Fu Zi (Aconite Root) can guide the Fire of the Heart and Lungs downward, thereby stopping restlessness and thirst.
Treats miasma disease with excessive heat, restlessness, thirst, and unquenchable drinking desire.
Use Da Fu Zi (Aconite Root) (3 qian), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (3 qian), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (1 qian), Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatherum Herb) (20 leaves), Ban Xia (Pinellia Tuber) (1 qian), Jing Mi (Rice Grain) (2 qian), and Qu Xin Mai Men Dong (Heart-excluded Ophiopogon Tuber) (2 qian).
Decoct these ingredients in water and take orally.
When miasma disease presents with restlessness, thirst, and unquenchable drinking desire, it signifies extreme desiccation of the Hua Gai (Metaphorical term for the Lungs). Therefore, Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) is used to tonify Lung Qi and generate fluids; the sweetness of Gan Cao (Licorice Root) is used to moderate Fire; the cold nature of Mai Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber) and Zhu Ye (Lophatherum Leaf) is used to moisten and clear the Lungs; Ban Xia (Pinellia Tuber) is added as an assistant to prevent phlegm stagnation; Jing Mi (Rice Grain), being a grain entering the Lung Meridian, is used to nourish the Lungs. The妙 (subtle) application of Fu Zi (Aconite Root) lies in guiding Fire downward, preventing the Hua Gai (Lungs) from becoming excessively desiccated.
Treats miasma disease causing stabbing pain in the epigastrium and discomfort in the chest and diaphragm, or vomiting and diarrhea, accompanied by excessive drinking desire. It also treats Summerheat-Dampness in summer and autumn, resulting from excessive consumption of raw and cold foods, leading to Huo Luan (Cholera-like syndrome).
Symptoms include interference between Yin and Yang energies, stabbing pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, distension and fullness in the hypochondriac region, restlessness, confusion, and thirst.
Use Liang Jiang (Galangal Rhizome) (1 liang), Tan Xiang (Sandalwood Wood) (2 liang), Ding Xiang (Clove) (5 qian), Fu Zi (Aconite Root) (1 liang), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (2 liang), Chuan Qiang (Notopterygium Rhizome) (1 liang), and Cao Dou Kou (Black Cardamom Seed) (1 liang).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. For each dose, use 3 qian of powder with 1.5 zhong of water.
Boil several times, store in a bottle, and submerge in a well to cool. Take when cold.
Miasma arises from consuming raw and cold foods. Epigastric pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and chest/diaphragmatic discomfort are all due to Cold in the Spleen and Stomach. When Cold invades internally, acrid-hot herbs such as Chuan Qiang (Notopterygium Rhizome), Liang Jiang (Galangal Rhizome), Tan Xiang (Sandalwood Wood), Cao Dou Kou (Black Cardamom Seed), Ding Xiang (Clove), and Fu Zi (Aconite Root) are used to dispel Cold and warm the Stomach. The sweetness of Gan Cao (Licorice Root) warms and harmonizes the Middle Jiao. For cases of intense thirst and excessive drinking, it is because pathogenic Heat exists in the Heart and Lungs; therefore, frozen beverages are used to guide the pathogenic Heat downward.
