Xiongjing (Auripigment, high grade) is the finest quality of Realgar. Take four qian of finely ground and flown Xiongjing, three qian of Yuanmingfen (Mirabilite), two qian of Pengsha (Borax), one qian of Xiongdan (Bear Bile), and five fen of Bingpian (Borneol).
In the above formula, Xiongjing and Pengsha are cool in nature, slightly astringent, capable of expelling evil pathogens and removing turbidity; Yuanmingfen is extremely bitter and cold, capable of overcoming heat and clearing the skin/muscles; assisted by Bingpian, which is cool in texture but hot in nature (note: text says "zhi liang xing re"), with an aromatic odor and pungent taste, capable of driving away wandering wind and subduing yin fire. It is used to treat conditions such as Tianxing Chire (Epidemic Red Eye Heat), with effects like a flying bear attacking dogs, unstoppable in all directions, hence named after its prowess.
Take eight liang of Lu Ganshi (Calamina) that is extremely loose, extremely clean, and floats on water without sinking. Crush it and sieve it, place it in a yellow clay jar, cover tightly with a polished tile, and place it in furnace charcoal. First use gentle fire (Wen Huo), then strong fire (Wu Huo), calcine for one day and night before opening the lid. The stone will become tight and clumped, separating from the jar by one or two fen. The color should be yellow like pine pollen, or dark green/blue is also good. After extinguishing the fire, add eight qian of Baipi (White Arsenic) powder, mix well, cover again, and observe until the smoke ceases. Quickly remove with tongs, allow to cool, and take down. This is called "Dan Tou" (Cinnabar Head). For every two liang of Dan Tou, combine with one qian each of Shixie (Shell Crab/Pseudoscalpellum), Zhenzhu (Pearl), Tongqing (Chalcanthite), and Shanhu (Coral), along with one hundred sheets of Jinbo (Gold Foil) and two hundred sheets of Yinbo (Silver Foil).
Lu Xiansheng (Calamina) absorbs dampness and removes nebulae, and also detoxifies; it is the supreme external medicine for this specialty. However, its nature is sweet and floating; sweetness implies a slow action, and floating implies it does not aggressively eliminate evil. Therefore, it is processed with Baipi (White Arsenic), which is extremely hot and toxic, to achieve a balance between mildness and severity. The addition of gold, pearls, etc., is because the nature of arsenic is consistently too fierce; the spiritual energy of these treasures suppresses the pathogenic atmosphere. Moreover, these six substances are warm yet severe, retaining their position without dispersing, providing sufficient strength to assist Lu Xiansheng in achieving success. For any nebulae on the Wind Wheel (Cornea), regardless of quantity or density, if the color is yellow or dull white and the texture is floating and tender, apply this medicine 5-6 times daily. Within a month, both eyes will become clear as autumn water and long sky, deep blue like Kongqing. Furthermore, Kongqing (Azurite/Green Azurite) is the gallstone within large rocks in deep mountain cliffs, emerging when thunder splits the rock; it is a treasure. Hence the proverb: "If there is Kongqing in the world, there are no blind people." This formula is named accordingly, and its efficacy is inconceivable.
After using this medicine for 3-5 days, if the Qi Wheel (Sclera) becomes redder, or the upper eyelid swells, and the nebula becomes more floating and larger, with vision being dimmer than before treatment, this indicates the disease is struggling to leave or stay. At this point, stopping treatment is inadvisable. If the patient loses patience, or family members are alarmed and strange, and switch to quack doctors who administer Bingpian (Borneol), Xiaoshao (Niter), Qingfen (Calomel), Fan (Alum), etc., then dispersed nebulae will gather, gathered ones will solidify, yellow ones will turn white, and white ones will become smooth. Such errors lead to atrophy and loss, similar to internal injuries caused by agate. Even if one fortunately retains some vision, it will inevitably have flaws, like a stain on a pure jade tablet.
