Presence of tears indicates the Liver channel is affected by Wind and Fire. Pain and swelling of the upper and lower eyelids indicate Spleen deficiency with Dampness invasion, because the Spleen governs muscles. White color corresponds to the Lung; the Lung is Metal, associated with the Qi of the West, thus governing white. Blood vessels in the sclera indicate Lung Fire; membranes on the eye indicate Wind affecting the Lung. Black corresponds to the Kidney; the Kidney governs Water, associated with the North, thus governing black. Lack of luster and inability to resist Yang pathogens indicates Kidney deficiency.
