Take a newly cut bamboo stalk, cut it into sections (tubes), and fill the inside with white honey. Seal the opening with wet tofu skin, reinforce the seal with salt paste, wrap in cloth, tie tightly with hemp rope, and boil for one full day and night. Remove and use to mix the medicine.

For epidemic hot eyes (epidemic acute conjunctivitis) or sudden onset of redness, swelling, pain, eyelid spasms with grittiness, and photophobia, take a piece of the medicinal stick the size of a wheat grain. In the palm of the hand, use a bone needle to dip cold water and mix evenly until neither too thin nor too thick. Apply into the corner of the eye. Applying two to three times per night will lead to recovery. For children aged one to seven years with eye conditions, take one stick of the medicine, place it in a wine cup, add a small amount of water, and dissolve it into a milky liquid. Use a new wool brush to dip the medicinal liquid and wash the inside and outside of the eyes several times a day and night. Avoid wind after washing.

Also treats toothache: Take half a stick of the medicine, knead open in the palm of the hand, and apply to the teeth. The pain will stop immediately.

Pus and blood flowing from the bottom of the ear: Take half a stick of the medicine, place it in a wine glass, soak with a small amount of clear water, and drip/irrigate into the ear. The flow of pus and blood will stop immediately.

For scorpion stings, snake bites, and mouth ulcers, apply to the affected area. The effect is miraculous.

(This method is suitable for treating symptoms caused by Wind-Fire, such as tearing, redness and ulceration of the eyelids, nebula [corneal opacity], swelling, and pain.)

Ingredients: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (each 5 qian); Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Baijuhua (Chrysanthemi Flos) (each 1.5 qian); Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus) (each 2 qian); Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) (1 qian).

Usage: Decoct in a clay pot with water, remove the dregs, and further concentrate the liquid to the volume of one teacup. Add 5 qian of honey and boil into an ointment/paste. Use this paste to mix with the fine powders listed below to form ingots or small pills.

Luganshi (Calamina, 1 liang, red type): Quench in Huanglian decoction and pass through water (to purify). Add Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) and Xiongdan (Ursi Fel) each 3 fen; Hupo (Succinum, raw ground), Xiangya (Elephantis Os - *note: modern usage often substitutes due to conservation laws*), Zhenzhu (Margarita), Ruxiang (Olibanum), Moyao (Myrrha, de-oiled) each 4 fen; Zhen Shexiang (Moschus) 1.5 li. Grind all together into a very fine powder, mix thoroughly with the Luganshi until extremely fine. Use the previously prepared honey paste to mix into small pills.

Application: Take one pill of the medicine, mix evenly with clean water in the palm of the hand. Use a silver needle or bone needle to apply into the corners of both eyes. For acute onset conditions lasting more than three days, one application will suffice for improvement. For Wind-Fire induced ulcerative eye conditions, applying for three nights leads to recovery. For nebula, continue application until healed.
