The True Lord of Lei Gong said: Generally, when a person is depressed and unhappy, suddenly experiencing qi obstruction that prevents speech, if treated improperly, death will ensue. There is no case of Yu Syndrome (Depression Syndrome) that does not injure the Liver; since the Liver is injured, how can it be further depleted? Depleting the Liver only exacerbates the depression. If the depression cannot be resolved, how can one save life from imminent death? The prescription used is Jiu Gan Kai Yu Tang (Liver-Saving and Depression-Resolving Decoction): Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) 2 liang, Chai Hu (Radix Bupleuri) 1 qian, Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 1 qian, Bai Jie Zi (Semen Sinapis Albae) 3 qian, Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) 5 qian, Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) 5 qian, Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) 2 qian, Fu Ling (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos) 5 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. After one dose, voice returns; after two doses, spirit calms; after three doses, stagnant qi is completely resolved. The brilliance of this formula lies in the large dosage of Bai Shao (2 liang), which directly enters the Liver Meridian to replenish its deficient qi, naturally generating blood and extinguishing fire. Furthermore, Bai Zhu and Dang Gui strengthen the Spleen and Stomach to generate blood, Chai Hu resolves depression, Gan Cao harmonizes the Middle Jiao, and Bai Jie Zi eliminates phlegm obstructing the diaphragm. Another brilliance is the generous use of Fu Ling, which directs stagnant qi and phlegm-saliva into the Bladder, where they dissipate invisibly. If someone suffers from unresolved stagnant qi, appearing withered and emaciated with yellowish complexion, urgently treating them with my formula would prevent unpredictable complications.
The True Lord of Lei Gong said: Dian Disease (Epilepsy/Mental Disorder) often arises from deficiency-cold of the Spleen and Stomach. When the Spleen and Stomach are deficient and cold, ingested food and drink fail to transform into essence and instead transform into phlegm. This phlegm condenses in the chest and diaphragm, failing to resolve, flows into the Heart, and generates Dian Syndrome. If one merely treats the phlegm without tonifying Qi, death will inevitably occur rapidly. The prescription used is Qu Dian Tang (Phlegm-Expelling and Dian-Curing Decoction): Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng) 5 qian, Bai Zhu 1 liang, Rou Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi) 1 qian, Gan Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recensis) 1 qian, Bai Jie Zi 5 qian, Gan Cao 5 fen, Chang Pu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii) 5 fen, Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Ternatae) 3 qian, Chen Pi 1 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. This formula uses Ren Shen and Bai Zhu to specifically tonify the Spleen and Stomach, Rou Gui and Gan Jiang to dispel cold pathogens, Bai Jie Zi and Ban Xia to eliminate stubborn phlegm, and Gan Cao and Chang Pu to guide the medicinal power into the Heart to open orifices. Naturally, righteous Qi returns and pathogenic phlegm disperses. After one dose, spirit stabilizes; after two doses, spirit prospers. How could Dian Disease not be cured? However, Hua Dian (Flower Dian) syndrome occurs when a woman obsessively thinks of a person, causing heart deviation, but it also involves pathogen invasion due to Spleen-Stomach cold. Adding Bai Shao 1 liang, Chai Hu 2 qian, and Chao Zhi Zi (Fried Fructus Gardeniae) 3 qian to this formula, while removing Rou Gui, yields miraculous results. After one dose, the Dian symptoms cease. This is because Chai Hu, Bai Shao, and Chao Zhi Zi all enter the Liver to pacify Wood, dispel fire, and scatter depression, thereby achieving this remarkable efficacy.
