Lei Gong Zhen Jun said: When blood dryness and lung dryness occur together with the development of carbuncles and sores (Yong Ju), it is mostly incurable, likely due to the lack of blood to nourish the body. Such diseases are mostly contracted by those who consume rich and greasy foods, indulge in sexual activities, causing massive depletion of essence and blood, and further suppress ejaculation during intercourse. The essence fails to transform properly and turns into pus and blood; this is Yin toxicity (Yin Du), not Yang toxicity (Yang Du). If treated with methods for Yang toxicity, death will ensue. I now specially leave a miraculous prescription named Hua Yong Tang (Carbuncle-Transforming Decoction): Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua) 5 liang, Schizonepeta (Jingjie) 3 qian, White Mustard Seed (Bai Jie Zi) 3 qian, Cinnamon Twig (Rou Gui) 3 fen, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 3 liang, Scrophularia (Yuanshen) 3 liang. Decoct in water and take orally. After one dose, the Yin condition transforms into Yang; after two doses, un-ulcerated lesions completely resolve, and ulcerated ones regenerate flesh; after three doses, recovery is achieved; after four doses, the treatment concludes. The efficacy is extremely miraculous. Even if the wound is severely ulcerated and rotten, constituting a deteriorated condition, taking my prescription will surely save life. Persist in long-term use, and success is guaranteed. This formula clears toxins without dispersing Qi, emphasizes tonification rather than attack, and treats carbuncles and sores caused by Yin toxicity with divine and unfathomable subtlety.

After severe uterine bleeding (Xue Beng), if the mouth and tongue become dry and cracked, and eating is impossible, it is a fatal condition. Massive blood loss naturally leads to insufficient blood to generate essence; when essence dries up, fluids also dry up, which is an inevitable trend. To re-moisten the dry mouth and tongue, one must regenerate the exhausted essence and blood. Among formulas for tonifying essence, Liu Wei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) is best. However, Liu Wei Wan only tonifies kidney essence but cannot directly moisten the mouth and tongue fluids from above. Although tonifying the kidney below can facilitate fluid transmission upwards, it is ultimately too slow to address emergencies. I have now established a miraculous formula that tonifies both upper and lower, named Shang Xia Xiang Zi Tang (Upper-and-Lower Mutual-Nourishing Decoction): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 5 qian, Polygonatum (Weirui) 5 qian, Ginseng (Renshen) 3 qian, Scrophularia (Yuanshen) 3 qian, Glehnia Root (Shashen) 5 qian, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 5 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 1 liang, Schisandra Berry (Bei Wuwei Zi) 2 qian, Achyranthes Root (Niuxi) 5 qian, Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) 1 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. This formula takes kidney tonification as the sovereign, assisted by lung-tonifying herbs. The child and mother organs nourish each other, moistening both upper and lower simultaneously. As essence generates, fluids generate; as blood generates, jing (body fluids) generate. How could a seemingly dead condition fail to revive?

In dryness syndrome (Zao Zheng), if the tongue is dry and swollen, accompanied by hematuria and continuous hematochezia, it is also a fatal condition. This occurs because summer heat-toxin was contracted in summer, leading to extreme dryness in autumn. The clearing and descending function of Lung Metal fails, causing extreme heat in the large and small intestines, resulting in simultaneous bleeding from both bowels and urine. Logically, seeing blood should prompt blood-treatment; however, treating blood alone may cause bleeding to persist and worsen dryness, becoming incurable. I do not treat the blood but specifically treat dryness, using Jian Run Wan (Moisturizing-Mix Pill): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Scrophularia (Yuanshen) 2 liang, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 2 liang, Glehnia Root (Shashen) 2 liang, Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) 5 qian, Sanguisorba Root (Diyu) 3 qian, Raw Rehmannia Root (Shengdi) 5 qian, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 1 liang, White Peony Root (Baishao) 1 liang. Decoct in water and take orally. One dose brings relief; two doses stop bleeding, indicating a return of vitality. This formula consists purely of excellent blood-tonifying herbs, using only Diyü to clear fire and Cheqianzi to promote urination. With fire cleared and water flow promoted, blood stops spontaneously without direct hemostatic intervention.

When dryness and blazing fire exhaust the yin of the Large Intestine, stools become like sheep dung, a condition named Chang Jie (Intestinal Knotting), which is generally considered incurable. However, if yin exhaustion does not lead to immediate death but instead presents as intestinal knotting, it indicates that yin is not yet fully exhausted. As long as true yin remains for even one day, life persists; as long as one thread of vitality remains, recovery is possible. I have a miraculous formula that specifically tonifies yin, allowing yin to grow and fire to subside, yin to flourish and the intestine to relax. Use Sheng Yin Kai Jie Tang (Nourish-Yin and Unbind-Knot Decoction): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 2 liang, Scrophularia (Yuanshen) 1 liang, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 1 liang, Raw Rehmannia Root (Shengdi) 5 qian, Achyranthes Root (Niuxi) 5 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 5 qian, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 5 qian, Chinese Yam (Shanyao) 3 qian, Cistanche Stem (Roucongrong) 5 qian (washed with wine until pale). Decoct in water and take orally. Continuous administration over several doses can open the intestinal knot, and stools will no longer resemble sheep dung, offering hope for survival. Daily dosing is required. After three months, switch to Liu Wei Di Huang Tang (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Decoction) or pills for over a year to prevent recurrence of intestinal knotting permanently.

In severe dryness syndrome, if the Small Intestine becomes narrow, unable to pass stool, causing severe distension and agony, it is also deemed incurable. Yet I wish to treat it because the opening and closing of the Small Intestine are not controlled by itself but by the Kidney. Treating only the Small Intestine would further weaken it, impairing its role as the official of transmission, worsening distension. Therefore, I do not treat the Small Intestine but focus on the Kidney. When Kidney Qi opens, the Small Intestine opens. The formula is named Zhi Ben Xiao Shui Tang (Treat-Root Eliminate-Water Decoction): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 2 liang, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 1 liang, Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) 5 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 1 liang, Schisandra Berry (Bei Wuwei Zi) 2 qian, Poria (Fuling) 5 qian, Achyranthes Root (Niuxi) 3 qian, Northern Motherwort Herb (Liuji Nu) 3 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. One dose brings slight passage; two doses widen the intestine, and urination flows freely. Shudi and Shanzhuyu tonify the Kidney; Maidong and Wuweizi tonify Lung Qi to allow clear and descending Qi to reach the Bladder. Fuling and Cheqianzi disperse water accumulation; Niuxi and Liuji Nu utilize their rapid qi-moving properties to guide downward flow without upward stagnation. Thus, Kidney Qi unblocks, and water flows smoothly.

If Lung Dryness is further depleted, hemoptysis (coughing up blood) will inevitably occur, eventually leading to Lung Atrophy (Fei Wei). How can this be treated? However, if treated before atrophy sets in, death can be avoided. Use Jiu Fei Dan (Save-Lung Elixir): Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 3 liang, Scrophularia (Yuanshen) 3 liang, Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua) 3 liang, White Mustard Seed (Bai Jie Zi) 3 qian, Platycodon Root (Jiegeng) 3 qian, Licorice Root (Sheng Gancao) 3 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. This formula specifically supports Lung Qi. Although Jinyinhua clears toxins, it remains an excellent yin-nourishing herb, thus resolving Lung Atrophy without aggravating hemoptysis. Treating only Lung Atrophy might not cure it and could exacerbate blood disorders, becoming incurable. Hence, my formula ensures recovery from Lung Atrophy.

Extreme dryness generating wind, causing twitching and pulling of hands and feet, is a fatal condition. This is because Spleen and Stomach are dried up, failing to nourish the limbs, causing tetanic movements. Wind arises from fire. Liver Wood, exacerbated by dryness, counter-controls Earth (Spleen/Stomach), making them more deficient and less able to nourish the limbs, leading to endless convulsions. Use Run Zhi Tang (Moisten-Limbs Decoction): Ginseng (Renshen) 1 liang, Scrophularia (Yuanshen) 1 liang, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 1 liang, White Peony Root (Baishao) 1 liang, Stir-fried Gardenia (Chao Zhizi) 3 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 1 liang, Chinese Yam (Shanyao) 5 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. One dose brings slight calm; two doses gradually stabilize; three doses stop the wind. Renshen and Shanyao generate Stomach Qi to strengthen the Spleen; Danggui and Baishao soothe the Liver to generate blood; Maidong generates Lung Qi; Yuanshen and Chao Zhizi clear fire, dispel wind, and resolve dryness. Once internal heat is removed, external symptoms of twitching resolve spontaneously, turning a fatal condition into a survivable one.

Extreme dryness-heat leading to constraint syndrome (Yu Zheng), where the patient cannot rise from bed, is incurable. Constraint syndrome involves fullness and distension in the hypochondrium, inability to lie on either side, and inability to rise. This results from Blood deficiency in the Liver Meridian, dryness of Stomach Qi, and eventual exhaustion of Kidney Qi, leading to marrow depletion in bones and gradual paralysis. This condition originates from summer heat, which scorches Lung Jin fluids, preventing them from generating Kidney Water. Consequently, Kidney Water cannot nourish Liver Wood, Liver Wood cannot generate Heart Fire, and Heart Fire cannot generate Spleen Earth, resulting in constraint. By rescuing the Lung and Kidney, the Spleen and Stomach will naturally relax. Use Jin Shui Liang Zi Tang (Metal-and-Water Dual-Nourishing Decoction): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 5 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 1 liang, Schisandra Berry (Bei Wuwei Zi) 2 qian, Ginseng (Renshen) 1 liang, White Peony Root (Baishao) 1 liang. Decoct in water and take orally. Although named Metal-and-Water Dual-Nourishing, it actually treats the Kidney, Liver, and Lung meridians simultaneously. Tonifying Lung and Kidney provides a source for Metal and Water, naturally moistening dryness. Without soothing Liver Wood, Stomach Qi cannot generate, and essence/fluids cannot be produced easily. Strong bones and comfortable lying require Liver regulation. Therefore, among Kidney and Lung tonics, Liver-soothing herbs are essential. Baishao best soothes the Liver and generates blood; used within Kidney/Lung tonification, it balances the formula effectively. Long-term use brings vitality, though immediate effects should not be expected.

Extreme dryness causing vomiting of "white blood" is incurable. Blood is never white; why vomit white? In chronic illness, patients often cough up white froth, which is actually "white blood." It is called white blood because it resembles crab saliva, containing no purulent phlegm. It is truly blood, not phlegm. Skeptics may expose the vomited froth to starlight overnight, after which it turns red. This froth originates from the Kidney, boiled by Kidney Fire in the throat, forcing expulsion. Though appearing as white froth, it is essentially Kidney Essence, not merely blood. If not treated promptly, the white froth will turn into green phlegm, becoming hopeless. Use Liu Wei Di Huang Tang (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Decoction): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 5 qian, Chinese Yam (Shanyao) 5 qian, Moutan Cortex (Danpi) 2 qian, Alisma Rhizome (Zexie) 2 qian, Poria (Fuling) 5 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 1 liang, Schisandra Berry (Bei Wuwei Zi) 1 qian. Decoct in water and take daily. Naturally, the white froth will cease and transform back into essence. Once froth transforms to essence, life returns.

Extreme dryness causing emaciation, dry throat, dusty complexion, lack of bodily luster, and reverse heat in the soles of the feet is also incurable. This is due to blood dryness failing to nourish externally and essence depletion failing to moisten internally. I have a miraculous formula to save such cases, named An Run Tang (Peace-and-Moisten Decoction): Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 5 qian, White Peony Root (Baishao) 5 qian, Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Szechwan Lovage Rhizome (Chuanxiong) 2 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 5 qian, Achyranthes Root (Niuxi) 3 qian, Ginseng (Renshen) 3 qian, Mulberry Leaf (Sangye) 30 leaves. Decoct in water and take orally. This is Si Wu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction) with additions. The brilliance lies in adding Renshen and Sangye, greatly enhancing the blood-tonifying power of Si Wu Tang, moistening all Qi and Blood in the body, thereby eliminating dryness.

Dryness syndrome manifesting as fright, inability to bend or extend the waist, hernia in men, lower abdominal pain in women, blindness, and protruding eyes is incurable. However, I believe it is treatable because all these symptoms stem from Kidney disease. Kidney deficiency can be tonified; tonifying the Kidney fills the Heart with Blood, stopping fright; tonifying the Kidney fills the Waist with Essence, restoring bending/extending ability; tonifying the Kidney fills Ren and Du meridians with Water, curing hernia in men and pain in women. What worry then about minor symptoms like blindness or eye protrusion? I hereby transmit a formula named Zi Ben Run Zao Tang (Root-Nourishing Moisture-Dryness Decoction): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 2 liang, Mulberry Leaf (Sangye) 30 leaves, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 5 qian, Glehnia Root (Shashen) 1 liang, Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu) 1 liang, Chrysanthemum Flower (Ganjuhua) 3 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. This formula purely tonifies the Kidney with slight assistance to strengthen the Spleen. Why? Severe dryness causes thirst, leading to excessive water intake. Excess water causes dampness in the waist that cannot dissipate. Baizhu benefits the waist and umbilicus; combined with Shudi’s Kidney-tonifying action, Baizhu loses its drying nature and assists in success. This is the ingenuity of the prescription. Administer this formula to such patients, and survival is assured.

Dryness syndrome causing cough has already damaged the Lung. Adding hemoptysis and expectoration of pus makes death certain; insisting on survival seems pedantic. However, dryness-induced cough is originally an external contraction, unlike internal injury. Even with pus and blood, it stems from cough damage. Rescuing the cough nourishes Lung Metal; stopping the cough eliminates pus and blood. Use Yang Fei Jiu Zao Dan (Nourish-Lung Save-Dryness Elixir): Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 3 liang, Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua) 3 liang, Scrophularia (Yuanshen) 3 liang, Licorice Root (Gancao) 3 qian, Asparagus Tuber (Tianmendong) 3 qian, Platycodon Root (Jiegeng) 3 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. This formula enters the Lung Meridian solely to moisten fluids, clears floating fire, and stops pus/blood. With internal Qi moistened and external pathogens removed, how can fatal conditions not be controlled?

Postpartum blood dryness causing fainting and unconsciousness is a critical respiratory emergency. Massive blood loss means old blood is gone, new blood cannot generate instantly, and Yin and Yang fail to connect. Use Jiu Yun Zhi Sheng Dan (Save-Fainting Supreme Elixir): Ginseng (Renshen) 1 liang, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 2 liang, Szechwan Lovage Rhizome (Chuanxiong) 1 liang, Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu) 1 liang, Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Charred Dried Ginger (Chao Hei Jiang) 1 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. Renshen rescues collapse; Danggui and Chuanxiong expel stasis and generate new blood; Shudi and Baizhu benefit the waist/umbilicus and tonify Spleen/Kidney; Charred Ginger guides blood back to vessels to stop fainting. One dose yields results. Turning death into life, this is truly a soul-returning miracle.

Postpartum dry constipation, where defecation is difficult yet necessary, accompanied by restlessness and fever, is often incurable. This results from massive blood loss leaving no Kidney Water to moisten the intestines, causing hard, dry stools. Using Da Huang (Rhubarb) for purgation rarely fails to kill. One must use Di Huang Tang (Rehmannia Decoction) for major tonification; some survive. Regardless of initial efficacy, administer one dose daily for 4-5 days or over ten days; bowel movement will naturally occur and recovery follows. Do not switch to cooling/fire-clearing agents if initial doses fail. My revised Di Huang Tang: Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 2 liang, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 1 liang, Chinese Yam (Shanyao) 5 qian, Moutan Cortex (Danpi) 5 qian, Alisma Rhizome (Zexie) 3 qian, Poria (Fuling) 3 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 1 liang, Schisandra Berry (Bei Wuwei Zi) 1 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. Following my dosage, this treats dry constipation excellently, not just postpartum cases.

Postpartum hemorrhage and epistaxis are generally incurable due to blood deficiency and further depletion. However, taking Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) can prevent death. I have a superior formula named Zhi Shi Tang (Stop-Loss Decoction): Ginseng (Renshen) 1 liang, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 5 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 3 qian, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 5 qian, Notoginseng Root Powder (Sanqi Gen Mo) 3 qian. Decoct in water and mix with powder for oral administration. One dose stops bleeding; two doses restore vitality. This formula tonifies Qi and Blood to protect the postpartum state, nourishes Lung vessels to rescue dryness, and stops bleeding to prevent collapse. It is universally suitable and uniquely effective, surpassing Liu Wei Tang. Postpartum blood dryness progressing to consumption (Zhai Syndrome/Tuberculosis-like weakness) is postpartum debility, caused by poor care during childbirth. Treatment must begin before onset. If weakness prevents rising from bed after one month, urgently use Jiu Lao Dan (Save-Consumption Elixir): Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 1 liang, Astragalus Root (Huangqi) 1 liang, Ginseng (Renshen) 1 liang, Turtle Shell (Biejia) 5 qian, Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 5 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 1 liang, White Peony Root (Baishao) 5 qian, White Mustard Seed (Bai Jie Zi) 1 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. This formula tonifies Qi and Blood without being hot or cold, ideal for early-stage consumption and especially effective postpartum. Administer early for guaranteed survival. Do not delay until incurable.

Postpartum unstoppable metrorrhagia with dry, cracked mouth and tongue is incurable. However, major tonification often saves lives. I have a miraculous formula named Ding Beng Jiu Chan Tang (Stabilize-Bleeding Save-Childbirth Decoction): Ginseng (Renshen) 1 liang, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 1 liang, Astragalus Root (Huangqi) 1 liang, Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu) 1 liang, Notoginseng Root Powder (Sanqi Gen Mo) 3 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. This formula tonifies Qi and Blood. It does not merely stop bleeding but allows blood to stop naturally through tonification, which is its brilliance. Sanqi stops bleeding but also tonifies; working synergistically, it achieves unique success. Metrorrhagia stops, and mouth/tongue dryness resolves. If one only seeks to stop bleeding without tonifying deficiency, bleeding will continue, leading to death.
