Prescription: Qian Niu Zi (Pharbitis Seed) 2 qian, Gan Sui (Kansui Root) 2 qian, Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark) 3 fen, Che Qian Zi (Plantago Seed) 1 liang. Decoct in water and take orally. Two doses are sufficient for cure. Do not continue taking it.
Qi Distension is swelling caused by Qi deficiency. Unlike Water Distension (Edema), where pressing leaves an indentation like mud, Qi Distension starts with swelling from the tops of the feet, gradually spreading to the whole body, and eventually involving the head and face.
Prescription: Che Qian Zi (Plantago Seed) 1 qian, Luo Bo Zi (Radish Seed) 1 qian, Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven) 1 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. Taking one dose daily will make one feel that Qi circulation gradually relaxes. After twenty doses, the swelling will completely disappear; after thirty doses, full recovery will be achieved. Although the effect is slow, the miracle of reviving the dying is truly wonderful. Salt intake must be strictly prohibited for one hundred days; even Qiu Shi (Human Urine Salt) is forbidden.
Worm Distension is characterized mainly by pain in the lower abdomen and floating swelling of the four limbs. The symptoms are not extremely severe; the skin color is red with spots, resembling the appearance of being eaten by worms. There is no slight swelling under the eyes resembling a silkworm (Wo Can).

Blood Distension has a long history. It may arise from blood stasis remaining after trauma or sprain, or from stagnant blood due to melancholy, or from blood accumulation due to wind pathogen that fails to manifest. Over time, the blood remains in the abdomen.
