[Xin Yi (Magnolia Flower)]
Taste: Pungent, Warm.

The flower buds conceal and accumulate their sharpness, clustering into purple and red clusters. Like peach blossoms gathering fruit, or a vigorous brush writing in the sky. The flowers stand tall and burn like the sun, swaying in the wind as they fade, welcoming spring with jade-like stamens. How can its efficacy be compared to others?
Han Yu's poem: "Hidden buds split crimson fruits." Li Han's discourse: "Containing light and accumulating sharpness." Xie Tiao's poem: "Buds first cluster purple." Li He's poem: "Fine green and round red."
Famous physicians state: It resembles Dong Tao but is smaller. Pan Ni's ode: "Gathering brilliance and concealing fruit." Chen Cangqi states: People in the north call it Mu Bi (Wooden Brush). Fang Qian's poem: "Spring things lure materials back to the vigorous brush." Ouyang Jiong's poem: "Its momentum seems to write in the sky reflecting early clouds." Han Qi's poem: "Xin Yi spits forth high flowers." Xu Xuan's poem: "After clear weather, the high sun shines particularly brightly." Han Yu's letter: "Welcoming abundance and seeing off decline has separate intent." Jiang Yan's fu: "Shaking wind suddenly rises." *Tiaoxi Yuyin Conghua* records: Mu Bi has purple flowers and blooms only in February; Ying Chun has white flowers and blooms after the Start of Spring. These are clearly two different species. *Gongyang Zhuan*: "The rest follows the same."

Behold the lush and tender mulberry leaves, vines clinging and attaching, sharing Qi while dividing form, following roots and attaching to stems. Purple willow mistletoe causes doubt, while Qing Shao belongs to a different lineage. Bean fruits have dense fragrance, and Cangwu wine preparations.
*Classic of Poetry*: "Lush are the mulberry leaves." *History of Tang Preface*: "Ivy clings closely." *I Ching (Book of Changes)*: "Attached to the mulberry sprouts." Letter from Emperor Yuan of Liang: "Dividing form and sharing Qi." Mei Yaochen's ode: "Following roots and attaching to stems." *Qunfang Pu* records: Liu Ji Sheng is also purple vine. *Seven Skeptical Questions* records. *Classic of Poetry*: "The flowers of Shao, its leaves are green." *Records of Wei*: "Encompassing different lineages."
Su Song states: The fruits are yellowish-green, resembling small beans; those with thick juice are of good quality. Xun Wu Za Pei, Sang Shang Ji Sheng Wine, originates from Wuzhou. Zhang Zhengjian's poem: "Floating ants dominate Cangwu," referring to this.
