Jiangjun Tiegu San (General's Iron Bandage Powder): Treats various toxic sores with redness, swelling, and protrusion. Apply the medicine around the periphery to encircle the lesion, preventing the spread and migration of toxic heat.
Arisaema cum Bile (Nanxing), Rhubarb (Dahuang), Xanthium Root (Canger Gen), Salt-frosted White Plum (Yanshuang Baimei) (each 1 liang), Bletilla Tuber (Baiji), Belamcanda Rhizome (Bailian), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Aconitum Carmichaelii Lateral Root Prepared (Chuanwu), Aconitum Kusnezoffii Root (Caowu), Realgar (Xionghuang).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. First, mash the Xanthium Root and Salt-frosted White Plum together and mix with the powder. If too dry, add vinegar to adjust consistency. Apply the mixture around the sore in a ring-like manner (like drawing an iron pen), leaving the center of the sore uncovered.
Another Prescription:
Bletilla Tuber (Baiji), Belamcanda Rhizome (Bailian), Arisaema cum Bile (Nanxing), Pinellia Tuber (Banxia), Persicaria Hirta (Liujinu) (each 4 liang), Aconitum Kusnezoffii Root (Caowu), Chinese Gall (Wubeizi), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), Rhubarb (Dahuang) (each 6 liang), Hibiscus Leaf (Furong Ye).
Grind all ingredients into a powder. For hard, indurated toxins, mix with mung bean powder and vinegar for application; for soft, fluctuant toxins, mix with honey. Leave the apex of the sore open to allow ventilation, and cover externally with paper. This yields miraculous effects.
Another Prescription:
Chinese Gall (Wubeizi) (10 liang, roasted until black), Garden Balsame Seed (Fengxianhua Zi) (3 liang), Soap Bean Pod (Zaojia) (3 liang, roasted to ash but retaining nature), Rhubarb (Dahuang), Chen Xiaofen (Stale rice flour, stir-fried until black), Alum (Mingfan) (weight unspecified).
Grind into a fine powder and apply with vinegar for miraculous effects. Another variation adds 3 liang of Hibiscus Leaf.
Encircling Medicine Formula: Eliminates swelling if no pus is present; induces suppuration if pus is formed.

Grind into a fine powder and mix with Toad Venom (Chansu) to form strips, thick as a brush handle, coated with gold foil. When used, grind thickly with vinegar, dip a new brush in the medicine, and paint around the periphery of the lesion, repeating several times.
Shenyin Weiyao (Divine Response Encircling Medicine): Treats sores caused by disharmony of Qi and Blood, leading to stagnation and obstruction, characterized by high swelling, redness, and pain; also treats sores caused by phlegm stagnation and cold-dampness.
Take 7 small live crucian carp, 4 liang of fresh Yam (Shanyao), and 21 green onion bulbs with roots. Mash them together thoroughly, then add 0.5 jin of aged lime (Duanshi) from thousands of years ago. Use raw.
Encircling Medicine for All Nameless Swellings and Toxins:
Yellow Stem Bark (Tenghuang) (5 qian), Chinese Gall (Wubeizi) (2 liang), White Honey (Baimi), Green Onion Bulb (Congtou) (each 1 liang).
Mix with rice vinegar and apply around the affected area, leaving the top uncovered.
Yingshou San (Responsive Powder):

Add 3 liang of Red Earthworm/Louse (Lugu), 3 qian of Musk (Shexiang), 1 liang of Realgar (Xionghuang) ground; 1 liang of Centipede (Wugong) ground. Lixiao Zhongdu Fang (Immediate Reduction of Toxic Swelling Formula): Named Wuse Chansu Mo (Five-Colored Toad Venom Ink).
Realgar (Xionghuang), Vermilion (Yinzhu), Alum (Danfan), Lead White (Shaofen), Yellow Stem Bark (Tenghuang), Copper Verdigris (Tonglv), Borax (Pengsha) (each 1 liang), Musk (Shexiang) (1 qian).
Grind all into a powder. Mix with Toad Venom (Chansu) to form strips, thick as a brush handle. Dry in shade. Grind with water and apply to the affected area for immediate resolution.
Treatment for All Yin Syndromes: Early stage of toxic sores and malignant boils, presenting as white, not very swollen, extremely painful deep to the bone. Apply medicine to draw the toxin out to the Yang level.
Raw Pinellia Tuber (Sheng Banxia), Raw Gardenia Fruit (Sheng Shanzhi), Raw White Mustard Seed (Sheng Baijiezi).
Mix equal parts with refined wheat flour (Feimian), green onion juice, and white honey. Apply around the top of the sore, leaving a small hole. Keep moist with onion-honey juice if dry. Change twice daily. The swelling will naturally become red and resolve.
Treatment for Yin Syndrome Carbuncle Eruption:
Mugwort Leaf (Aiye) (1 jin), Sulfur (Liu Huang), Realgar (Xionghuang) (each 5 qian).
Boil in water for half a day. Mash while warm and apply. Re-boil and replace. Repeat over ten times. Recovery is possible if sensation/pain returns.
Treatment for Yin Syndrome Application Formula:
Gardenia Fruit (Shanzhi), Bitter Apricot Kernel (Kuxingren) (each 21 grains), Asarum (Beixixin) (2 qian), Qingke Duck Egg White (1 egg), White Radish (Xiaobaiguo) (1 small piece), Refined Wheat Flour (Feimian) (amount unspecified).
Grind herbs into powder, mash together with radish and egg white. In cold weather, warm by steaming in a water bath before applying to the affected area. Change once daily. Resolution occurs after three applications.
Treatment for Yang Syndrome Encircling Medicine Formula:
Trichosanthes Root (Huafen), Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai), Turmeric (Jianghuang), Mint Leaf (Bohe Ye), Human Urine Deposit (Renzhongbai), Large Fritillary Bulb (Dabei), Chinese Gall (Wubeizi), Hibiscus Leaf (Furong Ye) (each 3 liang), Angelica Dahurica Root (Baizhi), Arisaema (Nanxing), Bletilla Tuber (Baiji) (weights implied or omitted).

Unusual Method for Drawing Out Toxin:
Use very fine iron filings. Boil good vinegar two or three times. Remove the iron filings from the vinegar. Spread the filings on the affected area. Place a large piece of active lodestone (magnetite) frequently over the filings to attract/suck out the toxin.
Qingliang Jiuku San (Cooling Relief for Suffering Powder): Treats all epidemic fevers and infectious diseases. Redness, swelling, and pain in the head, face, eyes, ears, nose, cheeks, neck.
