Tiyao Formula (Lifting Drug Formula): Treats various toxic sores that fail to heal; application promotes immediate healing.
* Tenghuang (Rhizoma Realgaris / Orpiment, note: traditionally distinct but often grouped in external use contexts, here likely referring to *Realgar* or *Orpiment* depending on specific local usage, WHO term for 雄黄 is Realgar, 藤黄 is Gamboge), Xionghuang (Realgar) (each 3 qian), Chansu (Toad Venom), Hongyao (Red Medicine, a proprietary compound), Bingpian (Borneol), Shexiang (Musk) (each 1 qian), Bimazi Rou (Kernel of Ricinus Communis Fruit) (1 liang).
First, remove the skin from the Ricinus kernel and pound it into a jelly-like consistency. Add the aforementioned drugs and pound into a paste. Store in a porcelain jar, ensuring it is airtight. Compared with Sandeng San (Sand Vine Powder), this formula is more potent.
Da Tiyao Formula (Major Lifting Drug Formula): Used for initial encircling application on Duikou Ju (Carbuncle at the nape) and Fabei Ju (Back Carbuncle) and other malignant ulcers; can resolve them within four to five days.
* Xionghuang (Realgar), Tenghuang (Gamboge), Zhen Dangmenzi (Authentic Musk) (each 1 qian), Zhusha (Cinnabar) (3 fen), Bimazi Rou (Kernel of Ricinus Communis Fruit) (3 qian, select kernels that are neither too old nor too tender), Hongshengyao (Red Ascending Medicine, a mercurial compound) (1 qian).
First, grind the Ricinus kernel into a mud-like paste, then mix and grind thoroughly with the other drugs. Seal in an ivory box and wrap externally with tiger skin to prevent leakage of volatile components.
Huang Tiyao Formula (Yellow Lifting Drug Formula):
* Yujin (Radix Curcumae Longae), Xionghuang (Realgar), Tenghuang (Gamboge) (each 2 qian), Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis), Chansu (Toad Venom), Sha (Mineral Salt/Rock Salt, context implies mineral), Shexiang (Musk), Bingpian (Borneol) (each 5 fen), Badou Rou (Kernel of Croton Tiglium Fruit) (8 qian), Bi... Grind each drug finely and mix into a paste. Apply a small amount onto a plaster when treating symptoms. Treats all kinds of malignant toxins; if not yet suppurated, it resolves them; if suppurated, it removes necrotic tissue. It is especially effective for Dingdu (Furuncle/Carbuncle).
Bailing Yao (White Spirit Medicine):
* Luganshi (Calamina), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis) (1 qian), Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) (each 2 qian).
Decoct Huanglian, Huangbai, and Huangqin to make a concentrated juice. Place Calamina in a silver pot, heat until extremely red, then pour in the juice. Repeat approximately nine times until the Calamina becomes brittle. Dry, grind into fine powder, and add Bingpian (Borneol)... [Text cuts off].
Hongsheng Dan (Red Ascending Elixir): Also known as Wuling Shengyao (Five Spirits Ascending Medicine).
* Shuiyin (Mercury), Baifan (Alumen) (each 5 qian), Zhusha (Cinnabar), Xionghuang (Realgar) (each 2.5 qian), Huoxiao (Saltpeter/Potassium Nitrate) (8 qian).
Process these drugs according to the "ascending" method. For any unnamed swelling and toxin, especially those ulcerated for a long time with internal decay and purple/dark margins, dilute with Bailing Yao water, apply with a chicken feather brush, or insert into the wound.
Baijiang Dan (White Descending Elixir): Also known as Xiabing Duidpei Dan.
* Shuiyin (Mercury), Jing Huoxiao (Purified Saltpeter), Baifan (Alumen), Zaofan (Vitriol), Chao Baishen (Stir-fried White Salt).
Each of the above drugs is 9 qian. The refining method involves grinding all drugs together until no mercury stars are visible. Place in a new large silver pouring pot and melt over low fire. Grind uniformly, place in a Yangcheng pot, dry over low fire, then allow to descend for the duration of three incense sticks. Cool and retrieve the medicine. (Do not allow live humans, chickens, or dogs to break the taboo). For swellings/toxins not yet formed into a head, mix with vinegar and dab on the top of the lesion. Observe the size of the toxin; if a blister the size of a tung nut rises, the toxin dissipates. If it has formed but refuses to pierce, use this pill, apply a plaster on top, and it will pierce within half a day.
Another Prescription:
* Shuiyin (Mercury), Huoxiao (Saltpeter), Shengfan (Raw Alum) (each 5 fen), Shipan (Table Salt) (2 fen).
Grind into powder, place in a silver pouring pot, and boil over charcoal fire using gentle heat.
