Treats carbuncles and ulcers (Yongju).
All carbuncles and ulcers are caused by the stagnation of Qi and blood, and the accumulation and knotting of wind-toxin. This prescription disperses wind-pathogens, promotes the circulation of Qi and blood, drains pus and relieves pain, generates flesh and promotes tissue regeneration;
[For those not yet suppurating] Take one sheng of hot wine, add five or six qian of the medicine powder, and after a short while, symptoms will decrease by seven-tenths. After several doses, the sore will ulcerate and discharge pus, and the wound will heal within half a month. There was also a woman with swelling in her thigh as large as a bowl, who recovered after taking this medicine. There was also a patient with a brain carbuncle (Nao Fa); after taking the medicine and drinking until drunk, rolling over in bed, the disease was gone upon waking. As long as the herbs are carefully selected for their excellence, it is crucial to take a large dose. Continue taking it until the wound heals, and then continue taking it to replenish previous deficiencies and prevent future complications. For those who do not drink alcohol, it can be taken mixed with thickly decocted Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Muxiang) soup. It is still better to use some wine. The ingredients are listed below:
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen) (Use Korean Ginseng, remove the rhizome head, finely cut, and dry-roast) Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) (Use Sichuan origin, large like horse tail, wash cleanly, cut, and dry-roast) Astragali Membranacei Radix (Huangqi) (Use those from Mianzhou) Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) (Good quality, wash cleanly, slice, and dry-roast) Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng) (Freshly fragrant, wash, slice, and dry-roast) Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Houpo) (Thick and purple skin, remove rough bark, soak in ginger juice overnight, stir-fry and dry-roast) Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng) (Those with a heart and bitter taste, wash clean, remove rhizome head, slice, and dry-roast) Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi) Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi) (Use thin and curled ones, remove rough bark, avoid direct fire heating)
The above ten ingredients should be extremely clean and dry. Weigh two liang each of Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), and Astragali Membranacei Radix (Huangqi), and one liang each of the remaining seven ingredients. Except for Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi), grind them together into fine powder, then add Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi) and mix evenly. Take three qian per dose, increasing to five or six qian. Buy plenty of Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi), take the pure powder, and weigh it. With sincere faith, careful preparation, and high dosage, efficacy is guaranteed.
It is effective for treating back carbuncles (Fabei) and various malignant sores. Someone with sores all over the body resembling snake heads also found it effective.
Take an arbitrary amount of Alum (Bai Fan), use raw, and grind into powder. For every one liang of Alum, use seven qian of Beeswax (Huang La). Remelt it to remove the fire heat, pour in the Alum powder, and mix evenly until it resembles seeds of Cercidiphyllum japonicum (Wutongzi). Taking no more than ten dozen doses will surely be effective. If the condition is caused by toxicity from ingesting mineral drugs, this prescription is also suitable. Alternatively, simply taking one or two dozen spoonfuls of Alum powder, swallowed with warm water, is also effective.
And preventing the internal attack of heat-toxin, causing critical distress, the wonderful effects cannot be fully described.
