Treats back carbuncles and sores (back abscesses), whether pus has formed or not, this formula is suitable for consumption. (The herbs are simple and inexpensive, convenient for saving the poor.)
Dried Quercus dentata leaf (4 liang) Dried Nelumbonis Nuciferae folium heart (with pedicel) Hemerocallis radix Glycyrrhizae radix et rhizoma with nodes Sanguisorbae radix (These four ingredients, each 1 liang)
Crush all into a powder. Take 0.5 liang per dose, decoct in two bowls of water until half a bowl remains, divide into two doses. Administer morning and evening regularly until the disease is cured. Those that have formed pus will naturally ulcerate; those that have not will naturally resolve. Avoid all toxic foods.
Also treats carbuncles and sores: Grind leaves of Prunus cerasoides (Jilongying) to a paste, add a little salt, and apply externally. Leave the head of the sore exposed for immediate effect.
Treats scrofula (tuberculous lymphadenitis), regardless of whether it has broken or not: Open a hole at the top of a black chicken egg, stir the yolk and white evenly, then tie one Mylabris (blister beetle) with a thread, remove its head, wings, and legs...
Another method: Take thirty unrotten Gleditsia sinensis fructus (soap pods), bundle them together, wrap in palm leaf, tie tightly, soak in a latrine pit for one month, take out, and rinse again in flowing water... Seven Scorpions, grind finely and mix well. Take 2 qian per dose, administer with warm wine or water as desired. Within two to three liang total, the patient will recover.
Treats ding sores (furuncles/boils): If a ding sore does not ulcerate, the toxin enters the stomach and intestines, making it incurable.
Take only Cicada slough (Periostracum cicadae), grind into powder, mix with half a bowl of honey water and drink. Also apply the powder mixed with saliva to the sore surface, causing the sore to naturally ulcerate.
Another method: Take three or four dried Chinese plums (Mume fructus), mash the flesh, bind tightly to the sore with silk cloth. Then grind Chrysanthemi flos and its stems/leaves, decoct in wine and drink. For those who do not drink alcohol, use water instead. Remove the plum on the evening of the next day; the sore will naturally ulcerate.
Another method: Grind fresh honey and green onions from the previous year into a paste. First puncture the sore, then apply the medicine, and bind with cloth. After walking for about five li (approx. 2.5 km), when the toxin is felt to be expelled, wash off with hot vinegar water.
Treats leg ulcers (chancre-like sores): Use only Xuejie (Dragon's blood), grind into powder, apply to the sore until dry.
Another method: Gu dan (likely referring to a specific mineral or processed herb) and Wumingyi (Hematite), grind finely, mix with refined sesame oil for application. If wet, apply dry powder on top.
Another secret recipe: Yellow earth from kiln stoves that has been burned repeatedly, grind finely. Mix with Phellodendri cortex (Huangbai), Halloysit rubra (Chishizhi), Minium (Huandan), and Calomelas (Qingfen). Blend with refined sesame oil, place in oil-paper pouch, and apply to the sore. Bind firmly with cloth/silk outside. Even if the sore itches, do not scratch with hands. Continue until dozens of days later, when the sore heals, then remove.
Treats zhu sores (infectious skin diseases) and scabies (scabious eruptions).
Realgar (Xionghuang) Sulfur (Liu Huang) Coptidis rhizoma (Huanglian) Cnidii fructus (Shechuangzi) Isodon japonicus (Jiandaocao) (baked dry)
Grind the above ingredients into equal parts powder. Take seven Badiophyllum semen (Badou) grains, fry in refined sesame oil until black, remove beans, wait for oil to cool, add good quality Calomelas (Qingfen), and mix with the aforementioned powder for topical application.
