[English Translation]
Bai Fan (Alumen, 白矾, five qian), Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis, 青黛, three qian), and Zhengjian Tiebei Gan Duanshi (Dry Calcined Iron Ore from Graveyard Backs, 冢间贴背干锻石, three qian).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder until no grinding sound is heard. Mix thoroughly. Take three qian each time, mixed with half a bowl of well water (Jinghua Shui, 井花水). Stir with a willow twig for thousands of times to ensure uniformity, and take in one dose. Cover with thick clothing for a long time. Then, consume Congchi Tang (Scallion and Fermented Soybean Decoction, 葱豉汤) with a little vinegar while extremely hot, to assist the medicinal power. The disease will be resolved through sweating.
If initially the Ding Chuang (Furuncle/Carbuncle, 疔疮) was not recognized and the previous method of inducing sweat was not used, and it is realized only after several days, then the chills, fever, and body pain will have ceased, indicating that the toxic qi has entered the interior. One must use purgative medicines to drain the internal toxic qi downward; Xionghuang Wan (Realgar Pill, 雄黄丸) is the primary treatment.
Xionghuang (Realgar, 雄黄, five qian), Yujin (Curcuma Longa Rhizome, 郁金, five qian), Badou (Croton Seed, 巴豆, half qian, remove heart and shell, slightly remove oil).
Another prescription adds Xinshi (Arsenolite, 信石) about one yi (a small unit of weight), do not use too much. Boil in clear sesame oil for half a day, take out, dry in the sun, and add to the medicine. Another prescription adds Banmao (Mylabris, 斑蝥) seven pieces, remove wings and heads, stir-fry with glutinous rice until color changes, discard the rice and use the insects. It also treats Luoli (Scrofula, 瘰疬). Another prescription adds Xuanning Fen (Mirabilite, 玄明粉) three qian, which also treats sore throat, swelling, and Hou Bi (Laryngeal Obstruction, 喉闭).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Use wheat paste to make pills the size of mung beans. Swallow seven pills with cold tea water. Stop when diarrhea occurs; if no diarrhea, take again.
Hanshuishi (Calcium Carbonate Rock, 寒水石, one liang, calcined), Qingfen (Calomel, 轻粉, a little), Guodan (Toad Venom/Pellet, 国丹, a little).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder and sprinkle on the wound. Wash and change twice daily and nightly. Apply Chansu Gao (Toad Venom Plaster, 蟾酥膏) and Taohong San (Peach Kernel and Safflower Powder, 桃红散). These are poisonous drugs, so they cause pain in the wound. If pain is severe, Li Shi'an's specific treatment method should be used as the main therapy, which is particularly effective.
Danggui Wei (Angelica Sinensis Tail, 当归尾, two liang), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome, 川芎), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepeta Spike, 荆芥穗), Gange (Pueraria Lobata Root, 干葛), Wuyao (Lindera Aggregate Root, 乌药), Chuan Duhuo (Angelica Pubescens Root, 川独活), Chi Shaoyao (Red Peony Root, 赤芍药), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root, 白芷), Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome, 升麻) (one liang each).
Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome, 羌活), Gancao (Licorice Root, 甘草), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, 防风, remove rhizome), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, 枳壳) (half liang each), Honghua (Carthamus Flower, 红花), Sumu (Pterocarpus Santalinus Wood, 苏木) (two qian half each).
If the wound is painful, add Ruxiang (Frankincense, 乳香), Moyao (Myrrh, 没药), and Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root, 白芷) five qian each. If heat in the wound does not subside, add Zhuqing (Bamboo Sap/Green Bamboo Shoot, 竹青) and Shanzhiren (Gardenia Seed, 山栀仁) a little. If constipation occurs, add Mangxiao (Mirabilite, 芒硝) and Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, 大黄) half liang each. If dizziness occurs, double the dosage of Chuanxiong, Baizhi, Jingjie, and Fangfeng. If thirsty with urinary retention, add Huashi (Talcum, 滑石) one liang.
Decoct the above ingredients. Take five qian each time with ten-plus stems of Dengcao (Juncus Effusus, 灯草) and ten black soybeans (Wudou, 乌豆) in one and a half zhong of water. Decoct until eight parts remain. For diseases in the upper part, take after meals; for diseases in the lower part, take before meals. If swelling occurs between the hypochondrium or below the chest, this is caused by toxic qi entering the interior. Use Pili Huo (Thunderbolt Fire, 霹雳火) treatment. If external symptoms do not resolve after taking Danggui San, urgently use Pili Huo to dissipate.
Pili Huo Method: Heat cobblestones until red-hot. Place them in a stercus bucket (Dian Tong, 淀桶). First, place a bamboo chair inside the bucket. Place a ladle under the bamboo chair. Let the patient sit on the chair. Cover the patient's body with quilts. Cover the patient's head with another quilt, leaving only the mouth and nose exposed. Induce sweating throughout the body, ensuring the head and face also sweat. The disease will exit. This method is excellent. Elderly, deficient, and pregnant patients should not undergo sweating or purging. Instead, puncture the wound, apply Haima Baidu San (Sea Horse Detoxification Powder, 海马拔毒散), and take Cang'er (Xanthium Fruit, 苍耳) decocted in wine. When toxic qi enters the interior and Pili Huo is used, the patient need not enter the bucket. Use a small water bucket. According to the previous method, place red-hot stones in the bucket using a ladle. Pour vinegar over the stones. Have the patient lie on their side and cover the swollen area over the bucket. Shield the surroundings with quilts to prevent heat leakage. After a while, the swollen area will sweat. If sweat does not penetrate, increase heat and pour vinegar again. Ensure the swollen area sweats thoroughly; whole-body sweating is not necessary.
If the wound is between the two hypochondria and toxic qi threatens the heart, it is a critical condition. Urgently moxa (Ai Zhu, 艾炷) three to five zhuang at the tip of the affected area. Still, at the moxa point, use Songzhen Jiefa (Pine Needle Interception Method, 松针截法) to needle and cut the "red silk path" (Hong Silu, 红丝路). If the wound is between the two groin areas and toxic qi threatens the kidneys, use pine needles at the end of the red silk path in the groins to needle and bleed. If the wound is on the head or face, needle and bleed at the end of the red silk path in the neck. Or, if the red silk path is not visible elsewhere, judge by intuition and needle with pine needles.
The reason for using pine needles is that the red silk path is not visible, providing no entry point. Thus, this method is used at soft areas under the jaw, in the armpits, and in the groin to needle and cut the toxic qi, preventing it from attacking the heart or kidneys.
Songzhen Fa (Pine Needle Method): Select very hard leaves from pine branches facing north. Bundle them tightly. Slowly judge by intuition where the toxic qi travels through soft areas. Administer one or two doses adjusted with warm wine. Then, perform the needle insertion.
If exterior symptoms have ceased and toxic qi has entered the interior, use the aforementioned Xionghuang Wan. If hands and feet are cold and all six pulses are absent, this indicates deep toxic qi and depleted qi. (With proper treatment), the pulse will return naturally. Then treat according to the law. There will be no failure.
