During pregnancy, if there is a sensation of emptiness and urgency in defecation, this is caused by the dryness of the Spleen and Stomach Earth Qi, leading to stagnation in the Large Intestine Meridian. The treatment should regulate the Spleen and Stomach and unblock the Large Intestine. Harsh purgatives such as Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) and Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) are contraindicated; instead, Yizhi Tang (One Zhi Decoction) is suitable.
Yizhi Tang (One Zhi Decoction)
Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit), stir-fried with bran, 3 qian (approx. 9g)
Decoct in water and take at any time without restriction.
Enuresis during pregnancy can be due to deficiency or heat. If there is heat in the bladder (Pao), Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) is suitable (see formula under "Zilin" section above). If it is due to deficiency of Spleen and Lung Qi, Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) is suitable (see formula under "Ziqi" section above), with added Yizhiren (Seed of Alpinia Oxyphylla) 1 qian (approx. 3g). If it is due to Yin deficiency of the Liver and Kidney, Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) is suitable. If enuresis occurs without awareness, Sangpiaoxiao San (Mantis Egg Case Powder) is suitable. For general treatment of enuresis, Baiwei San (Baiwei Powder) is suitable.
Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia)
Shudihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), 8 liang (approx. 240g); Shanyao (Dioscorea Rhizome), stir-fried with ginger juice; Shanyurou (Fruit of Cornus Officinalis), each 4 liang (approx. 120g); Mudanpi (Root Bark of Tree Peony); Fuling (Poria); Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), each 3 liang (approx. 90g).

There should be no leukorrhea before pregnancy; its appearance is a sign of difficult labor. Even if delivery proceeds smoothly, there is a risk of blood syncope postpartum. Yinxing Tang (Ginkgo Nut Decoction) is suitable. (This formula also treats all types of leukorrhea in women.)
Yinxing Tang (Ginkgo Nut Decoction)
Shudihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), 1 liang (approx. 30g); Shanyurou (Fruit of Cornus Officinalis); Yiyiren (Coix Seed); Huaishanyao (Chinese Yam), each 4 liang (approx. 120g); Fuling (Poria), 3 qian (approx. 9g); Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis); Danpi (Root Bark of Tree Peony), each 2 qian (approx. 6g); Heidou (Black Soybean), 3 he (approx. 45ml volume).
First, decoct the black soybeans in water to obtain two bowls of concentrated juice. Take one bowl of this juice, add ten ginkgo nuts (Yinxing/Baiguo) and twenty large red dates, and decoct well. Then add the remaining herbs, add two bowls of water, and decoct until reduced to eight-tenths. Take orally. If symptoms persist, reserve the dregs for re-decoction. After taking two doses of this formula, leukorrhea will be permanently eliminated.
Food retention during pregnancy presents with chest fullness and hypochondriac pain, with a tight pulse at the right Guan position. Treatment should focus on digestion and guiding out stagnation. If cold food injury causes slight chest and diaphragm stuffiness and nausea, the pulse will likely be slow. Dingxiang San (Clove Powder) is suitable.
