Women suffering from this condition all do so due to deficiency of the zang-fu organs and stagnant qi, compounded by internal emotional disturbances (Seven Emotions) and external invasion of pathogenic factors (Six Evils), causing pain when evil qi interferes. The pain follows the rising and falling of qi; if it rushes upward, pain occurs in the heart and diaphragm; if it attacks downward, pain occurs around the umbilicus. This is caused by the struggle between evil qi and righteous qi. After taking internal medicine, if belching (warm qi) occurs, the pain stops, and the pulse is deep, tight, and solid.
Main Formula: Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizome), Wuyao (Lindera Root), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Rougui (Cinnamon Bark), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, ground separately), Tao Ren (Persicae Semen) (each 8 fen), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) (1 qian 5 fen), with 3 slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and 1 Zao (Jujubae Fructus), decocted and taken orally.
This syndrome often affects pregnant women due to pressure from the fetus, or lifting heavy objects from a height, causing the bladder (Niaopao) to twist and resulting in urinary retention. It may also be due to heat in the Bladder, or holding urine for a long time. Symptoms include acute pain in the lower abdomen accompanied by inability to urinate. Treat according to the methods for "Urinary Retention" chapter.
Main Formula: Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Hanshuishi (Calcitum), Qiukui Zi (Abelmoschi Semen), Cheqian Zi (Plantaginis Semen), Shiwei (Pyrospermae Folium) (equal parts). Grind these into fine powder, decoct with water, and take orally. Stop immediately upon seeing results. Alternatively, use Qiukui Zi, Cheqian Zi, and human hair burned to ash, ground into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, washed down with tea. Or use Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria), mix with juice extracted from fresh Cheqian Cao (Plantaginis Herba); or use Ziwan (Astern Radix) ground into powder, washed down with Congbai (Scallion Juice). Another method involves heating salt, wrapping it in cloth, and applying hot compresses to the lower abdomen until urination naturally resumes.
This syndrome belongs to deficiency of Heart and Kidney qi, with impaired transportation and transformation. For example, if a woman experiences difficult labor, damaging the Bladder, leakage may occur at any time. It may also be caused by cold in the bladder and coldness of the viscera; careful examination is required. First, decoct and take Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Decoction for Supplementing the Middle and Augmenting the Qi) combined with Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia).
Secondary Formula: Bailonggu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi), Chishizhi (Halloysit Rubrum), Muli (Concha Ostreae) (calcined with vinegar), Yizhi (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus) (each 1 liang), Kufan (Alumen), Hezi (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus) (roasted, pips removed), Sharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) (each 5 qian). Grind into powder, take 2 qian per dose, mixed with rice soup. Can also be made into pills.
Lurong Wan (Deer Antler Pill): Suitable for women with chronic deficiency, turbid urine, and involuntary leakage.
Lurong (Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum, one pair), Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Muli (Concha Ostreae), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis), Rongzhu (Cistanches Herba), Jizhennei Huangpi (Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) (each 1 liang). Grind into powder, bind with wine paste into pills. Take 30 pills per dose, washed down with wine.
