For conditions such as *fuguju* (bone-abscess), *qidu liuzhu* (flowing toxin accumulation), and those that persist for a long time without resolving, presenting with internal ulceration but no pain, it is appropriate to use Huozhen (Fire Needle Therapy) to open the drainage. Iron chopsticks are heated on fire, providing great relief; after cauterization, pus and fluid flow smoothly, a method known as "Shuchuang" (Ripe Sore). This method must be used for chronic, stubborn, numb, and painless lesions. If a sharp needle is used, there is a risk that the opening may close prematurely. Therefore, two round-ended tools resembling the thick end of chopsticks, approximately six or seven cun in length, should be used. Hold a cotton wick dipped in sesame oil and heat it red over charcoal. Cauterize near the lower part of the sore head, inserting obliquely towards the softer tissue. If one penetration is insufficient, repeat until pus flows out. Do not press manually. Use real silk paper twisted into a rope-like wick, insert it into the sore according to depth, separate the excess paper outside, and apply a plaster over the sore. Vertical insertion risks penetrating the membrane, so oblique insertion is preferred.
When various toxins first manifest, select bitter bamboo shoots one to two cun long, preferably using the section with nodes. Scrape off the green skin until thin like paper, sizing it according to the sore. When the toxic sore initially erupts, take 5 qian each of Baijili (Tribulus Fruit), Cangzhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), Houpo (Magnolia Bark), and Wuyu (Cinnamon Twig/Cortex), slice them, and boil them with one bowl of water together with the bamboo tube until the liquid nearly dries up. While the bamboo tube is hot, press it onto the affected area by hand until it adheres naturally, then remove your hand. After a moment, boil another batch of the same medicinal dosage. Once the previous tube cools, pull it off by hand, and reapply the heated tube as before. The pus will naturally be sucked into the tube, leading to healing.
This method treats sores, swelling, toxins, carbuncles, abscesses, flowing accumulations, tubercles, crural gout (cruciate knee deformity), bone-abscesses, etc., as well as breast abscesses in women. If moxibustion has already been applied but residual swelling remains, or if the condition is mild and untreated by moxa, this method is suitable. Mash scallions including the white head and root hairs, stir-fry until hot. Do not fear pain; wrap firmly in cloth and iron (hot compress). Use two packages rotating between heating and applying. For painful areas, iron until pain ceases; for hard areas, iron and massage until soft. Generally, this method is most effective when symptoms are just beginning; iron and massage continuously until resolution, yielding significant results. It is also used for traumatic injuries with stagnant blood. Furthermore, mixing powder of Nanxing (Arisaema Rhizome) and Caowu (Aconite Root) into the mashed hot scallions for ironing is particularly miraculous. Mashed and stir-fried ginger and scallions wrapped in cloth for hot compression are also effective. For cold damage chest binding (*shanghan jiexiong*) and food stagnation with qi stagnation causing chest fullness and oppression in men, women, old, and young, this method has great efficacy, showing immediate results.
