The Classics state: Heart pain and Spleen pain are set by Yin-Cold (Yin Han, 阴寒). For any disease involving pain in the chest, diaphragm, heart, or abdomen, if it is triggered by eating, drinking, labor, fatigue, or injury from the Seven Emotions (Qi Qing, 七情), then Spleen Qi (Pi Qi, 脾气) becomes stagnant. Or if one is exposed to Cold, Summer-Heat, Dampness, or Heat pathogens, as well as Food Stagnation (Shi Ji, 食积) and Phlegm-Qi (Tan Qi, 痰气), the Spleen receives these and causes pain; this is not Heart pain.
