耳上凡八穴
\r耳上之图\p06-d22a6.bmp\r
天冲（甲乙）耳上如前三分（甲乙）
The *Ling Shu: Gu Du Pian* states: The height of a person is seven chi and five cun. ○ The circumference of the largest bone of the head is two chi and six cun. ○ The area covered by hair, from the cranium to the nape, is one chi and two cun. ○ From below the hairline to the chin (Yi), the length is one chi. ○ From the frontal angle (Jiao) below to the pillar bone (Tian Zhu Gu), the length is one chi. ○ Between the two zygomatic bones, the distance is seven cun. ○ The width at the ear front corresponding to the Er Men point is one chi and three cun. ○ The width at the ear back corresponding to the Wan Gu point is nine cun. ○ From the posterior hairline down to the dorsal bone (the *Jia Yi Jing* refers to this as the spine), the length is two and a half cun (the *Jia Yi Jing* records it as three and a half cun). ○ From the laryngeal prominence below to the center of Que Pen, the length is four cun. (The center of Que Pen is the Tian Tu point.)
According to the *Lei Jing*: If the hairline is unclear, take the glabella (Yin Tang), go straight up and back to the Da Zhu bone, measuring one chi and eight cun. This view is rigid. Some people have large heads but short necks, some have long necks but small heads, or broad foreheads above the eyebrows; such cases are not few. Therefore, acupoints should be located based on the bone measurements of each part. Since the hairline is unclear, ask the patient to look upward at the forehead; the place where wrinkles do not form is the hairline. As for the posterior hairline, it is determined by the Ya Men point. If explained by the aforementioned theory, the errors would be vast, so one must be cautious.
There are seven acupoints along the lateral line from the anterior hairline.
Shen Ting (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Fa Ji (*Benshi Fang*). Located directly opposite the tip of the nose at the anterior hairline (*Jia Yi Jing*). Moxibustion is prohibited (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The *Wai Tai Mi Yao*, *Benshi Fang*, *Zisheng Jing*, and *Shengji Zonglu* all record "five fen into the hairline," and subsequent texts follow this. The *Qianjin Yifang* states: "one fen into the hairline." The *Dongui Bogam* states that regarding the forehead, such rigidity is inappropriate. The *Lei Jing* offers a view: for those with a high hairline, the hairline itself is the point; for those with a low hairline, add two or three cun. Regarding the varying heights of the hairline, the point can be determined by judgment without need for debate. Here we follow the ancient saying.
Qu Cha (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Bi Chong (*Jia Yi Jing*). Located one cun and five fen lateral to Shen Ting on both sides, at the hairline, taken with the head upright (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The character "Cha" is written as " " in Xu's *Zhen Jiu Da Quan*, which is incorrect. The *Shi Si Jing Fa Hui*, *Lei Jing*, *Zhen Jiu Ju Ying*, Wu Wenbing's *Zhen Jiu Da Cheng*, and Zhou's *Zhen Jiu Da Cheng* write "into the hairline." The *Yi Zong Jin Jian* writes "between the hairlines," which is wrong. The *Dongui Bogam* writes "into the anterior and posterior hairlines," which is also wrong. Since this point is one cun and half away from Shen Ting, it is difficult to measure precisely. Now, we define Qu Cha as directly above Jing Ming; Ben Shen as directly above Tong Zi Liao; and Lin Qi, halfway between them, as five fen into the hairline from the pupil. Alternatively, first determine the frontal angle; the distance from Shen Ting to the frontal angle is four cun and five fen, dividing this space into four points. Generally, secure the position first. The *Yi Men Zhai Yao* states: Shen Ting is directly above the nose, five fen into the hairline, so Qu Cha is also five fen into the hairline. This is an unfounded claim and should not be followed.
Ben Shen (*Jia Yi Jing*). Located one cun and five fen lateral to Qu Cha on both sides, at the hairline (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: This point is directly above Si Zhu Kong at the hairline, so the *Jia Yi Jing* classifies it in the lateral hairline section. The *Qianjin Fang* classifies it in the fourth row of the face, visible until Si Zhu Kong and Tong Zi Liao. The *Jia Yi Jing* and *Qianjin Fang* record a view: directly above the ear, four fen into the hairline. The *Qianjin Yifang* records it as two fen. Although many texts contain this view, it is not adopted here. The *Wai Tai Mi Yao* records: "above the eye, directly above the ear, four fen into the hairline." Mr. Dongyang says: "Above the eye" is likely a typo for "one day." Also, the *Yi Xue Ru Men* places it one cun and half lateral to Lin Qi, while Lin Qi is directly above Tong Zi Liao, situated between Qu Cha and Ben Shen.
Tou Wei (*Jia Yi Jing*). At the frontal angle hairline, one cun and five fen lateral to Ben Shen on both sides (*Jia Yi Jing*). Moxibustion is prohibited (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The *Qi Fu Lun* states: The acupoints where the Foot-Yangming meridian qi emerges are three on each side beside the frontal hairline. Wang Bing's secondary note says: This refers to Xuan Lu, Yang Bai, and Tou Wei, totaling six points on both sides. The *Zisheng Jing*, *Shen Ying Jing*, *Lei Jing*, *Ju Ying*, Wu Wenbing, and *Jin Jian* write "into the hairline," which is incorrect. Niiyama Nagano's *Zhen Jiu Ze* states "one cun and five fen into the hairline," which is妄言 (wild talk). The *Qianjin Fang* states: Moxa the two corners of the head; the corners should be the raised bones on either side of the receding hairline, which is correct. This likely refers to this point. The *Shen Ying Jing* states: Take Qu Bin one cun, which is incorrect.
Along the midline of the head, directly opposite the nose, one cun into the hairline, extending backward to Feng Fu, there are eight acupoints.
Shang Xing (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Gui Tang (*Qianjin Fang*), Ming Tang (*Zisheng Jing*), and Shen Tang (*Lei Jing*). Above the fontanelle, directly opposite the center of the nose, entering the hairline...
Note: The *Yi Xue Ru Men* and *Zhen Jiu Da Quan* state "five fen above Shen Ting," which is incorrect. First, determine Bai Hui using the whorl and above the ears; the distance to Shen Ting is five cun. One cun up is Shang Xing, another cun is Xin Hui. Xin Hui is in the middle of Bai Hui, placing Qian Ding. From Bai Hui to Nao Hu is four cun and five fen. The *Su Wen: Re Bing Lun* states: There are five rows on the head, five points per row. Wang Bing notes: The central row consists of Shang Xing, Xin Hui, Qian Ding, Bai Hui, and Hou Ding. The next lateral row consists of Wu Chu, Cheng Guang, Tong Tian, Luo Que, and Yu Zhen. The third lateral row consists of Lin Qi, Mu Chuang, Zheng Ying, Cheng Ling, and Nao Kong. Note: The central row has seven points. If considering five rows, the remaining points are Qiang Jian and Nao Hu, which ancient texts rarely discuss. We await clarification from experts. The *Qianjin Fang* states "two cun above Shen Ting." The *Zisheng Jing* cites the *Ming Tang Jing*, stating that "Ming Tang" refers to this point. It is now moved to aliases. The *Qianjin Yifang Zhen Jiu Pian* states: For sudden epilepsy, moxa the Du Meridian thirty Zhu. Directly above the philtrum into the hairline. Repeat three times. It is unknown exactly which location this refers to.
Xin Hui (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Xin Shang, Gui Men (*Qianjin Fang*), Xin Men (Li Shizhen's *Qi Jing Ba Mai Kao*), and Ding Men (*Zhen Jiu Da Cheng*). One cun behind Shang Xing, in the depression between the bones (*Jia Yi Jing*). Puncture is prohibited (*Yi Xue Ru Men*, *Dongui Bogam*).
Note: The *Yi Xue Ru Men* changes "behind" to "above." The *Yi Men Zhai Yao* states "one cun and five fen," which is incorrect. The *Qianjin Yifang* states: For evil diseases and ghost epilepsy, Xin Shang governs it. Also known as Gui Men. The *Qianjin* commentary states: Xin Hui is also known as Gui Men. Dictionaries say Xin was anciently written as 囟. Also, the *Zhu Feng Pian* states: Two cun above Shen Ting, separated from Shang Xing, explaining the measurement, so this is not adopted. The *Qianjin Yifang* recording it as one cun is erroneous.
Qian Ding (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and five fen behind Xin Hui, in the depression between the bones (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The *Ming Tang Jing* states "one cun before Bai Hui," and the *Lei Jing* also records this view, which is incorrect. The *Yi Xue Ru Men* changes "behind" to "above."
Bai Hui (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as San Yang Wu Hui (*Jia Yi Jing*), Gui Men, Ni Wan Gong (*Benshi Fang*), Dian Shang, Tian Man (*Lei Jing*), San Yang, and Wu Hui (*Zhen Jiu Da Cheng*). At Dian Shang (*Su Wen*). One cun and five fen behind Qian Ding, in the depression of the whorl at the center of the vertex, where a finger can fit (*Jia Yi Jing*). In the depression of the top of the head (*Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang*). Directly opposite the tips of both ears (*Shi Si Jing Fa Hui*).
Note: The character "Ding" (vertex) in "center of the vertex" is recorded as "Xiang" (nape) in the *Wai Tai Mi Yao*, which is an error. The *Zisheng Jing*, *Shen Ying Jing*, *Shi Si Jing Fa Hui*, *Lei Jing*, *Zhen Jiu Ju Ying*, and *Gu Jin Yi Tong* interpret "Rong Zhi" (fitting a finger) similarly. The *Jia Yi Jing*'s "in the whorl" is a general statement. The *Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang* states "directly opposite the nose, five cun into the hairline." The *Shen Ying Jing* states "five cun from the anterior hairline, seven cun from the posterior hairline," based on bone measurement. However, Nao Hu is on the occipital bone; arbitrary measurement often leads to significant errors. "San Yang Wu Hui": The Justice commentary in the *Shi Ji: Bian Que Zhuan* states: San Yang refers to Tai Yang, Shao Yang, and Yang Ming. Wu Hui refers to Bai Hui, Xiong Hui, Ting Hui, Qi Hui, and Sui Hui. Some use this explanation. The *Nan Jing* asks: What are the Eight Hui? The answer is: Fu Hui is Tai Cang, Zang Hui is Ji Xie, Jin Hui is Yang Ling Quan, Sui Hui is Jue Gu, Xue Hui is Ge Shu, Gu Hui is Da Zhu, Mai Hui is Tai Yuan, and Qi Hui is outside the San Jiao, one tendon straight between the two breasts. For internal heat diseases, select the Hui acupoints. Teng Wanqing annotates: According to the *Nei Jing*, the fifty-nine needle method for heat diseases takes points according to the distribution of heat pathogens. Thus, the Eight Hui method was established for simplicity. These eight Hui involve thirteen points; for internal heat, treat according to the respective parts. When Guo Taizi suffered Shi Jue (corpse厥), selecting the external San Yang Wu Hui—was it only the Bai Hui point? It is suspected that multiple points of this Hui were taken, which clarifies the matter. However, the name "San Yang Wu Hui" originates from the *Jia Yi Jing*. Also, the *Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang* treatment for Shi Jue involves puncturing Bai Hui, inserting three fen, and reinforcing. The *Wai Tai Mi Yao* treatment for Shi Jue also involves puncturing Bai Hui. The *Tong Jian* records that Emperor Gaozong of Tang suffered from heavy head and inability to see, summoning physician Qin Minghe. He punctured Bai Hui and Nao Hu. Hu Sansheng states: In the *Zhen Jiu Jing*, Bai Hui is also known as San Yang Wu Hui, and Nao Hu is also known as He Lu. This explains the alias of Bai Hui, which has existed for a long time. Sun Simiao said: The old method for Hong Zhang Jiao (gout/leg swelling) often moxas Bai Hui, Feng Fu, and the Shu and Mu points of the five zang and six fu organs. Recently, those who moxa feel the qi rising upward. Caution: do not moxa. This is a major taboo.
Hou Ding (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Jiao Chong (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and five fen behind Bai Hui, on the occipital bone (*Jia Yi Jing*), in the depression (*Ming Tang Jing*).
Note: The *Yi Xue Ru Men* changes "behind Bai Hui" to "below Bai Hui." The *Ming Tang Jing* adds the character "Yu" (jade) after "occipital," which is incorrect.
Qiang Jian (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Da Yu (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and five fen behind Hou Ding (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and half in front of Nao Hu (*Qianjin Yifang*). One view states moxibustion is prohibited (*Lei Jing*).
Note: First locate Nao Hu on the upper occipital bone. Place Hou Ding and Qiang Jian between Nao Hu and Bai Hui. The *Qianjin Yifang* states: One cun above the sharp bone at the back of the head, seemingly referring to Qiang Jian. "Yu Men" resembles the characters closely, detailed in the Extraordinary Points section.
Nao Hu (*Su Wen*), also known as Za Feng (pronounced 'ge'), Hui E (*Jia Yi Jing*), and He Lu (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*). On the Tiao bone, one cun and five fen behind Qiang Jian (*Jia Yi Jing*). Do not moxa, as it causes aphonia (*Jia Yi Jing*). Puncturing Nao Hu in the head, entering the brain, leads to immediate death (*Su Wen*). Moxa five Zhu (Wang Bing's secondary note).
Note: The character "Tiao" in the *Gu Kong Lun* states: The empty space above the spinal bone, above Feng Fu. Wang Bing says: "Up" refers to the Nao Hu point. "Tiao" should be "Zhen" (pillow). Most texts write "Zhen." The Zhen bone surrounds the large bone of the head. Those who lie supine rest their head on the pillow. The *Gu Kong Lun* states: The transverse bone of the head is the Zhen, which is correct. From Hou Ding to here, the width is three cun. Whenever it mentions the Zhen bone or Nao Hu, it is generally on the sharp part of the occipital bone. It also says: The sharp bone at the cranial margin, likely referring to this. The *Jia Yi Jing* says "Tiao bone," likely considering the sharp bone as the Tiao bone. The character "Tiao" seems to have its own meaning. The *Tong Jian* records Qin Minghe puncturing the Emperor. Hu Sansheng states: Needling causes aphonia. Old legends say Minghe caused slight bleeding, and the headache stopped immediately. This point prohibits deep needling, allowing only slight bleeding.
Feng Fu (*Su Wen*), also known as She Mu (*Jia Yi Jing*), Gui Zhen, Gui Xue (*Qianjin Fang*), and Cao Xi (*Benshi Fang*). The Marrow Empty is at five fen, below the sharp bone at the cranial margin (*Su Wen*). The seventh pulse, the vessel in the center of the neck is the Du Meridian, named Feng Fu (*Ling Shu*). One cun into the hairline from the crown, inside the large tendons, in the hollow. Speak quickly, and the flesh rises instantly; stop speaking, and the flesh falls (*Jia Yi Jing*). Moxibustion is prohibited (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The *Gu Kong Lun* states: Feng Fu is at the upper vertebra. The "upper vertebra" refers to the first segment of the Tian Zhu bone, which is hidden when flexed. "Wan Wan" was formerly written as "Xue" (acupoint), now corrected. This point is directly below the high bone, not restricted by measurement, so the *Jia Yi Jing* does not specify "one cun below Nao Hu." This reveals the ancient view. The *Qianjin Fang* states: One cun into the hairline from the back of the head, one cun from the upper bone. The *Qianjin Yifang* states: One cun above Ya Men. The *Yi Xue Ru Men* and *Zhen Jiu Da Quan* state: One cun and half below Nao Hu, which is not adopted.
The second row of the head is straight opposite the eyebrows, one cun and half lateral to the midline, extending backward to Yu Zhen, totaling ten acupoints.
Wu Chu (*Jia Yi Jing*). Lateral to the Du Meridian, one cun and five fen from Shang Xing (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun behind Qu Cha (*Zeng Zhu*). Moxibustion is prohibited (*Jia Yi Jing*). Moxa three Zhu...
Note: The *Yi Xue Ru Men* erroneously writes "Ju" instead of "Wu." The *Lei Jing* and *Jin Jian* state "five fen behind Qu Cha," which is incorrect. The second row is determined by a line from Jing Ming at the eyebrow front to Tian Zhu at the back. The distance from Qu Cha to Yu Zhen is six cun and half, arranging the points accordingly.
Cheng Guang (*Jia Yi Jing*). Two cun behind Wu Chu (*Jia Yi Jing*, *Wai Tai Mi Yao*). One cun behind Wu Chu (*Qianjin Fang*, *Qianjin Yifang*, Wang Bing's note). One cun and half behind Wu Chu (*Zisheng Jing*, *Shengji Zonglu*). Moxibustion is prohibited (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: Among the three views, it is unknown which is correct. Temporarily follow the *Jia Yi Jing* and *Yi Xue Ru Men*, noting that "Ju" behind is a typo.
Tong Tian (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Tian Jiu (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and five fen behind Cheng Guang (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The character "Jiu" is written as "Bai" in the *Wai Tai Mi Yao* and "Bo" in the *Baojian*. The *Lei Jing* offers a view: directly one cun and five fen lateral to Bai Hui, considering Cheng Guang as one cun and five fen behind Wu Chu, hence this interpretation.
Luo Que (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Qiang Yang and Nao Gai (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and three fen behind Tong Tian (*Jia Yi Jing*). Puncture is prohibited (*Yi Xue Ru Men*).
Note: The character "Nao" is written as "Xiong" in the *Gu Jin Yi Tong*, which is a typo. The *Wai Tai Mi Yao* states "reverse direction behind Tong Tian." "Reverse direction" is meaningless. The *Shen Ying Jing* states: One cun and three fen above the hairline at the back of the head, on the raised flesh on both sides. The occipital bone at the back of the head, flanking Nao Hu, four cun and half above the hairline. However, Yu Zhen flanks Nao Hu, so this view is likely incorrect. Most texts state one cun and five fen behind Tong Tian; see the discussion below.
Yu Zhen (*Jia Yi Jing*). Seven fen behind Luo Que (*Jia Yi Jing*, Wang Bing's note). Seven and a half fen (*Qianjin Fang*, *Qianjin Yifang*, *Wai Tai Mi Yao*). Flanking Nao Hu, one cun and three fen, on the raised occipital bone, three cun into the hairline (*Jia Yi Jing*). One view states puncture is prohibited (*Lei Jing*).
Note: The *Zisheng Jing* states: The *Tong Ren* says Yu Zhen is one cun and half behind Luo Que. The *Ming Tang Shang Xia Jing* both state seven and a half fen. If the *Tong Ren* is wrong, then the Foot-Taiyang points would also be wrong. If the *Ming Tang* is wrong, it is unlikely that both upper and lower classics are wrong. I note that the *Su Wen* commentary states Yu Zhen is seven fen behind Luo Que, which is close to the seven and a half fen of the *Ming Tang*. Thus, the *Su Wen* should be the standard. However, since the two Yu Zhen points flank Nao Hu, they should not be only seven fen apart, reaching the Nao Gai. The *Tong Ren*'s one cun and half likely has a rationale. Experts should discern this. Commentary: Comparing various classics, the one stating one cun and half behind Luo Que is correct. Zhang Jiebin states: The measurements in the *Jia Yi Jing* do not match the Du Meridian. The *Gu Du Pian* records measurements for the midline but not for lateral lines. It is implied that lateral lines are shorter than the midline. Due to the round shape of the skull, measurements cannot be fixed. Luo Que is one cun and three fen; Yu Zhen is seven fen. The *Zisheng Jing* and *Shengji Zonglu* state one cun and five fen behind Luo Que. The *Fa Hui*, *Lei Jing*, *Ju Ying*, *Ru Men*, *Yi Tong*, Wu Wenbing, *Jin Jian*, and *Da Cheng* follow this, which is incorrect. The previous points flank the midline at one cun and half; here it is one cun and three fen, being slightly narrower by two fen, similar to the abdomen being narrower than the chest. Ancient theories must be known. Lateral points are hard to measure, so the phrase "three cun five fen into the hairline" is not adopted. Based on the raised flesh on the occipital bone, Murakami Chikata's *Gu Du Zheng Wu* states: Cheng Ling and Nao Kong are two cun and one fen from the Du Meridian; Feng Chi is two cun from the Du Meridian; Luo Que and Yu Zhen are one cun and five fen from the Du Meridian; Tian Zhu is one cun and three fen from the Du Meridian. The basis for these is unclear and likely speculative.
The third row of the head is straight opposite the pupils, five fen into the hairline, extending backward to Nao Kong, totaling ten acupoints.
Lin Qi (*Jia Yi Jing*). Opposite the eye, directly five fen into the hairline, in the depression (*Jia Yi Jing*). Take with eyes looking straight ahead (*Lei Jing*). One view states moxibustion is prohibited (*Lei Jing*).
Note: The *Qi Fu Lun* states: Five points inside the hairline directly above the eyes. The secondary note states: These are Lin Qi, Mu Chuang, Zheng Ying, Cheng Ling, and Nao Kong. The character "Shang" is present in the *Qianjin Fang*, *Qianjin Yifang*, and *Wai Tai Mi Yao*. The secondary note, *Zisheng Jing*, and *Shengji Zonglu* omit "Shang," which is correct. The third row is determined by a line from directly opposite the pupil to Feng Chi. The third row from the anterior hairline to Nao Kong measures five cun and five fen. Insert five fen into the hairline to locate Lin Qi, placing points sequentially. Nao Kong flanks Yu Zhen, making the point easy to find.
Mu Chuang (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Zhi Rong (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun behind Lin Qi (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The character "Rong" is written as "Ying" in the *Wai Tai Mi Yao*. The *Zhen Jiu Da Cheng* records "one cun and half," which is incorrect.
Zheng Ying (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun behind Mu Chuang (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Cheng Ling (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and five fen behind Zheng Ying (*Jia Yi Jing*). One view states puncture is prohibited (*Lei Jing*).
Note: The *Qianjin Yifang* records one cun, which is incorrect.
Nao Kong (*Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Nei Rui (*Jia Yi Jing*). One cun and five fen behind Cheng Ling, under the bone flanking Yu Zhen, in the depression (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: "Nei Rui" is written as "Jing" in the *Zhen Jiu Da Quan*, which is an error. Yu Zhen is the point name; Bone refers to the occipital bone. There is bone flanking Yu Zhen, below which the point lies, hence "under the bone." The *Qianjin Fang* does not adopt this. It shares the same name but is a different point from the extra point Nei Rui. The *Shengji Zonglu* states: Duke Wei suffered from severe headaches causing mental confusion and dizziness. Hua Tuo needled him, and he recovered immediately.
There are five acupoints along the lateral line from the posterior hairline.
Ya Men (*Su Wen*), also known as She Heng, She Yan (*Jia Yi Jing*), Ya Men (*Qianjin Yifang*), and She Zhong (*Dongui Bogam*). In the center of the back of the neck, below the fused bone (*Su Wen*). In the hollow at the posterior hairline, connecting to the root of the tongue, taken with the head tilted back (*Jia Yi Jing*). Do not moxa, as it causes aphonia (*Jia Yi Jing*). Deep puncture into the tongue is prohibited.
Note: "She Yan" is written as "Yan She" in the *Gu Jin Yi Tong*. The character " " is written as "Ya" in the *Yi Xue Ru Men*. The *Qianjin Yifang* states: One view says three cun below Nao Hu. The secondary note states: One cun from Feng Fu. Wu Wenbing follows this. The *Shengji Zonglu*, *Shen Ying Jing*, *Fa Hui*, and Wu Wenbing all state five fen into the hairline. The *Dongui Bogam* states: Five fen behind Feng Fu. This view has been discussed above. This point does not require measurement; the fact that ancient texts do not specify measurements is evident. Zhang Jiebin states: Above Da Zhui, there is a gap in the vertebral joint. "Fu" should be "Fu" (hidden/prone). The three segments of the cervical bone are not very prominent, hence "below the hidden bone."
Tian Zhu (*Su Wen*). In the neck, on both sides of the large tendons (*Su Wen*). Flanking the posterior hairline of the neck, outside the lateral edge of the large tendons, in the depression (*Jia Yi Jing*).
Note: The *Kou Wen Pian* states: The Tian Zhu meridian flanks the neck. "Flanking the neck" means the division of the head. "Meridian" likely refers to the flow and distribution.
Feng Chi (*Su Wen*). On both sides of Feng Fu (*Su Wen*). Behind Nei Rui, in the depression at the hairline (*Jia Yi Jing*). Pressing induces sensation in the ear (Wang Bing's secondary note).
Note: The *Yi Xue Ru Men* states: One cun and half behind the ear, which is too rigid. The names "Nei Rui" and "Nao Kong" are distinct from the "Nei Rui" noted alongside Han Yan. The *Zisheng Jing* correctly identifies it as Nao Kong. The *Lei Jing* states: Outside the lateral edge of the large tendon, which is incorrect. The *Ju Ying*, *Gu Jin Yi Tong*, and *Da Cheng* state "behind Nei Rui, below Nao Kong," which is wrong.
There are eight acupoints above the ear.
Tian Chong (*Jia Yi Jing*). Three fen above the ear (*Jia Yi Jing*).
