(The acromion bone, commonly referred to as the shoulder head) is the meeting point of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Channel (Shouyangming Dachang Jing) and the Yang-Wei Vessel (Yangwei Mai) (The *Ling Shu* states: The sinews of the Hand-Yangming channel ascend from the shoulder to the neck. It also states: Diseases governed by the Hand-Yangming channel include pain in the anterior shoulder. Furthermore, it states: The regular pathway of the Hand-Yangming channel follows the chest and breast, diverges at the shoulder, and enters below the vertebral column).
It also belongs to the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Channel (Shoushaoyang Sanjiao Jing) and the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Channel (Zushaoyang Danjing) (The *Ling Shu* states: The sinews of the Hand-Shaoyang channel encircle the lateral aspect of the axilla, ascend to the shoulder, intersect with the neck, and converge with the Hand-Taiyang channel. It also states: The vessel of the Hand-Shaoyang channel ascends along the lateral upper arm to the shoulder, emerging posterior to the Foot-Shaoyang channel. Additionally, it states: The vessel of the Foot-Shaoyang channel follows the neck, running posterior to the Hand-Shaoyang channel; upon reaching the shoulder, it turns anterior to the Hand-Shaoyang channel and enters the Quepen region).
It also belongs to the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel (Shoutaiyang Xiaochang Jing) and the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel (Zutaiyang Pangguang Jing) (The *Ling Shu* states: The regular pathway of the Hand-Taiyang channel points downward, diverges at the shoulder joint, enters the axilla, and travels to the heart. It also states: The collateral vessel of the Hand-Taiyang channel ascends to the elbow and connects to the shoulder. In excess conditions, joints become flaccid and elbows are useless; in deficiency conditions, sores arise, small ones resembling scabies or crusts on fingers; treat by selecting the point where the collateral diverges. Furthermore, it states: The sinews of the Foot-Taiyang channel have a branch that originates from the posterolateral aspect of the axilla and knots at the shoulder; its pathology manifests as inability to lift the shoulder).
(The scapula, also known as the shoulder blade) is the meeting point of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel and the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Hand-Taiyang channel follows the posterolateral aspect of the upper arm, emerges from the shoulder joint, circles the scapula, and reaches the shoulder. When the qi moves abnormally, it causes pain in the shoulder as if being pulled out and pain in the back as if broken. It also states: The sinews of the Hand-Taiyang channel circle the scapula; their pathology involves pain radiating from the scapula to the neck. It also states: The vessel of the Foot-Taiyang channel runs along the medial aspect of the shoulder blade, flanking the spine, and reaches the waist. Li Dongyuan stated that shoulder and back pain accompanied by an inability to look back is due to stagnation of Hand-Taiyang qi, which should be dispersed using wind-dispelling herbs).
It also belongs to the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The sinews of the Hand-Yangming channel have a branch that circles the scapula).
(Located below the shoulder and above the elbow) [The middle of the lateral aspect] belongs to the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Hand-Shaoyang channel follows the lateral aspect of the upper arm and ascends to the shoulder. Diseases governed by this channel include pain throughout the axilla, elbow, and lateral arm. It also states: The sinews of the Hand-Shaoyang channel encircle the lateral aspect of the upper arm).
[The anterior lateral aspect] belongs to the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Channel, [The posterior lateral aspect] belongs to the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Hand-Yangming channel enters the lateral aspect of the elbow and ascends to the anterior lateral aspect of the upper arm. It also states: The vessel of the Hand-Taiyang channel emerges between the two tendons at the medial aspect of the elbow and ascends along the posterior lateral aspect of the upper arm. Diseases governed by this channel include pain in the shoulder, axilla, elbow, and posterior lateral aspect of the arm).
[The middle of the medial aspect] belongs to the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Channel (Shoujueyin Xinbao Jing), [The anterior medial aspect] belongs to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Channel (Shoutaiyin Feijing), [The posterior medial aspect] belongs to the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Channel (Shoushaoyin Xinjing) (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Hand-Jueyin channel follows the medial aspect of the upper arm, running between the Hand-Taiyin and Hand-Shaoyin channels. It also states: The vessel of the Hand-Taiyin channel follows the medial aspect of the upper arm, running anterior to the Hand-Shaoyin Heart and Pericardium channels. Diseases governed by this channel include pain and coldness in the anterior medial aspect of the arm. It also states: Diseases governed by the Hand-Shaoyin channel include pain and coldness in the posterior medial aspect of the arm).
