(The elbow is the joint of the arm, located below the shoulder and above the wrist) It belongs to the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Heart Master (Pericardium) follows the medial aspect of the middle finger, ascends to the medial aspect of the elbow, and enters below the small tendon. It also states: The tendon of the Heart Master (Pericardium), along with the tendon of the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin, both knot at the medial aspect of the elbow).
[The upper medial aspect] belongs to the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin, [the lower medial aspect] belongs to the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin emerges from the Cun Kou pulse point and travels to the medial aspect of the elbow, entering below the large tendon. It also states: The tendon of the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin ascends to knot at the medial aspect of the elbow, forming the 'elbow net' downwards. It also states: When there is evil qi in the Lung and Heart, its qi remains stagnant in both elbows).
[The middle lateral aspect] belongs to the Sanjiao Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Sanjiao Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang emerges between the two bones of the forearm, ascending through the elbow. It also states: The tendon of the Sanjiao Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang follows the forearm and knots at the elbow. It also states: The great collaterals of the Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming and the Sanjiao Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang originate between the five fingers and ascend to converge in the center of the elbow).
[The upper lateral aspect] belongs to the Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming. [The lower lateral aspect] belongs to the Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming follows the upper lateral aspect of the forearm and enters the lateral aspect of the elbow. It also states: The tendon of the Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang follows the medial aspect of the forearm and knots behind the sharp bone of the inner elbow; upon palpation, the sensation responds above the little finger. It also states: Heat exclusively in the elbow indicates heat above the waist; heat exclusively in the hand indicates heat below the waist; heat exclusively in the front of the elbow indicates heat in the anterior chest; heat exclusively in the back of the elbow indicates heat in the shoulder and back; heat exclusively in the middle of the arm indicates heat in the lumbar and back regions; heat three or four cun below the posterior elbow indicates intestinal parasites. It also states: The tendon of the Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming follows the forearm and ascends to knot at the lateral aspect of the elbow).
(Below the elbow, above the wrist) [The middle lateral aspect] belongs to the Sanjiao Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang, [the upper lateral aspect] belongs to the Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming, [the lower lateral aspect] belongs to the Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang (The *Ling Shu* states: When disease begins in the arm, one should first select points on the Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming to induce sweating. Zhu Danxi said: Symptoms arising from the combination of Yin and Yang of the hands and feet are called pain in the lateral arm, which involves the Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang and the Sanjiao Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang).
[The middle medial aspect] belongs to the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin, [the upper medial aspect] belongs to the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin, [the lower medial aspect] belongs to the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin (The *Ling Shu* states: The vessel of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin descends the arm, running between the two tendons. It also states: Evil invading the Yin aspect often starts from the arm. The arm and leg, their Yin surfaces have thin skin and moist/fleshy tissue, thus they are all susceptible to Wind evil, but specifically injure their Yin aspects). It also jointly belongs to the Liver and Kidney meridians (Zhang Jifeng said: Thin arms lacking strength and unable to bear weight indicate deficiency of Qi in the Liver and Kidneys, with Wind evil lodging in the Ying and Wei levels, preventing Qi and Blood from circulating and nourishing the four limbs, hence this symptom arises; treatment should focus on tonifying the Liver and Kidneys).
