(The gallbladder is located between the short lobes of the liver, weighs three taels and three zhu, and stores three he of jinye [body fluids].) The *Ling Shu* states: The Foot-Shaoyang (Gallbladder) meridian originates at the outer canthus (Tongziliao, GB1), ascends to the head corner, descends behind the ear, follows the neck anterior to the Hand-Shaoyang (Sanjiao) meridian, reaches the shoulder, then crosses posterior to the Hand-Shaoyang meridian, and enters the supraclavicular fossa (starting from the outer canthus, passing through Tinghui (GB2) and Keyuzhuren (Ex-HN16), ascending to the head corner, following Hanyan (GB4), descending to Xuanlu (GB5) and Xuanli (GB6), entering Qubin (GB7) and Lvgu (GB8) from the hairline above the ear, passing Jiaosun (SJ14) of the Hand-Shaoyang meridian, turning outward and descending behind the ear, traversing Tianchong (GB9), Fu Bai (GB10), Qiaoyin (GB11), and Wanggu (GB12); again turning outward and ascending from Wanggu, following Benshen (GB13), advancing to Yangbai (GB14), then turning inward and ascending, following Linqi (GB15), Mucuang (GB16), Zhengying (GB17), Chengling (GB18), and Naokong (GB19), descending via Fengchi (GB20); from Fengchi, following the neck, passing Tiyou (SJ16) of the Hand-Shaoyang meridian, proceeding anterior to the Shaoyang meridian, descending to the shoulder, following Jianjing (GB21), crossing again posterior to the Hand-Shaoyang meridian, passing Dazhui (GV14) of the Du meridian, meeting Bingfeng (SI12) of the Hand-Taiyang meridian, and then entering laterally to the supraclavicular fossa of the Foot-Yangming meridian; its branch also enters the ear). Its branch arises from behind the ear, enters the ear, emerges anterior to the ear, and reaches the posterior aspect of the outer canthus (this branch, from the temporal region behind the ear, passes Yifeng (SJ17) of the Hand-Shaoyang meridian, enters the ear, passes Tinggong (SI19) of the Hand-Taiyang meridian, emerges anterior to the ear, returns from Tinghui to the posterior aspect of the outer canthus at Tongziliao); another branch diverges from the outer canthus, descends to Daying (ST5), joins the Hand-Shaoyang meridian, and reaches the infraorbital region (this branch diverges from the outer canthus at Tongziliao, descends to the level of Daying of the Foot-Yangming meridian, passes Sizhukong (SJ23) and Heliao (Ex-HN1) of the Hand-Shaoyang meridian, and descends to the infraorbital region); it descends to Jiache (ST6), travels down the neck, and converges with the supraclavicular fossa (the part descending to the Foot-Yangming meridian converges at Xiaguan (ST7), then descends from Jiache along the neck, preceding this meridian, and merges with the portion previously entering the supraclavicular fossa, to enter the chest); it enters the chest, penetrates the diaphragm, connects with the Liver, belongs to the Gallbladder, follows the interior of the hypochondrium, emerges at Qichong (ST30), surrounds the pubic region, and transversely enters the hip joint (its internal course descends from the supraclavicular fossa into the chest, penetrating the diaphragm at the level of Tianchi (PC1) of the Hand-Jueyin meridian, connecting with the Liver at Qimen (LR14) of the Foot-Jueyin meridian, belonging to the Gallbladder at Riyue (GB24) of this meridian, forming exterior-interior relationships, then following the hypochondrium, descending from Zhangmen (LR13) of the Foot-Jueyin meridian, emerging at Qichong of the Foot-Yangming meridian, surrounding the pubic region, joining the Foot-Jueyin meridian, and transversely entering Huantiao (GB30) in the hip joint); its straight branch descends from the supraclavicular fossa to the axilla, follows the chest, passes the lateral costal margin, and converges with the portion entering the hip joint (the straight external course descends from the supraclavicular fossa to the axilla, follows the chest, traverses Yuanye (GB25), Zhejin (GB26), and Riyue (GB24), passes the lateral costal margin, descends along Jingmen (GB25), Daibai (GB26), etc., enters Juliao (GB31) of the Foot-Taiyang meridian, specifically Shangliao (BL31), Zhongliao (BL32), and Xialiao (BL33), descends, and merges with the portion previously entering the hip joint); from there, it follows the lateral thigh, emerges at the lateral knee, and descends anterior to the fibula (the lateral thigh is called Biyang. The fibula refers to the prominent bones on both sides below the knee. Traversing Biyang between the Taiyang and Yangming meridians, it passes Zhongdu (GB34) and Yangguan (GB33), emerges at the lateral knee, and descends anterior to the fibula, from Yanglingquan (GB34) downward through Yangjiao (GB35), etc.); it descends straight to the end of the Jiegu (fibular head), emerges anterior to the lateral malleolus, follows the dorsum of the foot, and enters the space between the fourth and fifth toes (the bone junction above the lateral malleolus is called Jiegu. The end of Jiegu is the point Yangfu (GB38); descending to Xuanzhong (GB39), following Qiuxu (GB40) and Linqi (GB41) on the dorsum of the foot, it enters the space between the fourth and fifth toes, reaching Qiaoyin (GB44), where the Foot-Shaoyang meridian terminates); its branch diverges from the dorsum of the foot, enters the space between the first and second toes, follows the medial side of the interphalangeal bone of the great toe, emerges at its tip, loops through the nail bed, and emerges at the trichorrhexis (the bone gap after the proximal phalanx of the great and second toes is called Qigu; the space two segments behind the nail of the great toe is called Sanmao. This branch diverges from the dorsum of the foot, enters the great toe, follows the medial Qigu, emerges at the tip of the great toe, loops into the nail, emerges at Sanmao, and connects with the Foot-Jueyin meridian). Its collateral is named Guangming (GB37), located five cun above the ankle, diverging to the Foot-Jueyin meridian, descending to connect with the dorsum of the foot. Excess conditions manifest as Jue [cold extremities], deficiency conditions manifest as Wei [flaccidity], with difficulty sitting up or rising; treatment should target this collateral (The collateral of the Foot-Shaoyang meridian is named Guangming, located five cun above the lateral malleolus, diverging to the Foot-Jueyin meridian; this meridian descends to connect with the dorsum of the foot. For disorders of pain/Jue and flaccidity/Wei involving this meridian, one should select the collateral point Guangming). The main channel winds around the thigh into the pubic region, joining the Foot-Jueyin meridian; its branch enters the lateral costal margin, follows the chest interior, belongs to the Gallbladder, disperses to the upper Liver, penetrates the Heart, ascends to flank the pharynx, emerges in the jaw area, disperses on the face, ties to the eye system, and joins the Shaoyang meridian at the outer canthus (This indicates the Liver and Gallbladder meridians are exterior-interior pairs, with their channels forming a single union. The Foot-Shaoyang meridian winds around the lateral thigh, enters the pubic region, and joins the Foot-Jueyin meridian. Its internal branch enters the chest from the lateral costal margin, belongs to the Gallbladder, disperses to the upper Liver, passes from the Liver through the Heart, ascends to flank the pharynx, emerges from the jaw to disperse on the face, ascends to tie to the eye system, and reunites with the original Shaoyang meridian at the outer canthus/Tongziliao). Its sinews originate at the fourth toe, ascend to bind at the lateral malleolus, follow the lateral tibia, and join at the lateral knee (The fourth toe is adjacent to Qiaoyin. The lateral malleolus is adjacent to Qiuxu. The lateral tibia is adjacent to Waixiu and Yangjiao. The lateral knee is adjacent to Yanglingquan and Yangguan. These are all rigid sinews); its branch diverges to the lateral fibula, ascends to the thigh, binding anteriorly at Futu (ST32) and posteriorly at Kao (sacrum/coccyx) (The prominent bones on both sides below the knee are called fibula. The muscle mass six cun above the knee is called Futu. The tailbone is called Kao. This branch ascends from the lateral malleolus to the thigh, dividing into two: anteriorly binding at Futu of the Foot-Yangming meridian, posteriorly binding at Kao of the Du meridian; here rigid and soft mutually constrain each other, enabling the pivot function of the buttocks and knees); its straight branch ascends over the lateral costal margin, moves to the anterior axillary line, ties to the chest and breast, and binds at the supraclavicular fossa (The depressed area below the lateral costal margin is called . The high area on both sides of the upper chest is called Ying. This straight course ascends from the lateral bone to the thigh, moves from the hip pivot over , follows the lateral costal margin to the axilla, lies inferior to the Hand-Taiyin meridian, emerges at the anterior axillary line, transversely ties to the chest and breast region, and ascends to bind at the supraclavicular fossa, joining the sinews of the Hand-Taiyin meridian, all being rigid sinews); the straight branch ascends out of the axilla, penetrates the supraclavicular fossa, emerges anterior to the Foot-Taiyang meridian, follows behind the ear, ascends to the frontal angle, crosses at the vertex, descends to the mandible, and ascends to bind at (This straight course ascends from the axilla, penetrates the supraclavicular fossa, merging with the previous binding at the supraclavicular fossa, then proceeds anterior to the Foot-Taiyang sinew, follows the ear to the frontal angle, crosses with the Foot-Taiyang sinew at the vertex, moves from Touwei (ST8) of the Foot-Yangming meridian anterior to the ear, descends to the cheek and mandible, and re-binds at the upper ); its branch binds at the outer canthus as the outer dimension (This branch slants from the zygoma to bind at the outer canthus, serving as the outer support of the eye; the ability to look left and right depends on the extension and contraction of this sinew). When the meridian is disturbed, symptoms include bitter taste, frequent sighing, pain in the heart and hypochondrium preventing turning, severe cases showing a dusty complexion, lack of luster in the body, and heat on the lateral foot, known as Yang Jue [Yang reversal]. Diseases governed by the bone include: headache, mandibular pain, pain at the outer canthus, swelling and pain in the supraclavicular fossa, axillary swelling, Hashimoto's thyroiditis/scrofula (Madao and Xiaying), sweating with chills, malaria, pain throughout the chest, hypochondrium, ribs, thigh, lateral knee, lateral tibia, Jiegu, lateral malleolus, and all joints, and dysfunction of the fourth and fifth toes. In excess, the Renying pulse is one times larger than the Cunkou pulse; in deficiency, the Renying pulse is smaller than the Cunkou pulse.
