Treats carbuncles, severe toxic malignant ulcers, and infected wounds caused by cuts from knives or stones. Its functions are to resolve pus, extract toxins, remove necrotic tissue, and promote the growth of new muscle.
Herbs: *Galla Chinensis* (Fengwo) [Chuan Wu Bei Zi] (baked until dry, 2 liang), *Realgar* (Ming Xiong Jing), *Pangolin Scales* (Shan Jia) [Zhi Shan Jia] (each 4 qian), *Centipede* (Wu Gong) (baked), *Scorpion* (Quan Xie) (baked, 7 each), *Cicada Slough* (Chan Tui) (baked, 10).
Grind each of the above herbs into an extremely fine powder, mix evenly, and grind again. Store in a porcelain bottle, ensuring it is airtight. When using, first wipe away the necrotic pus with weak paper, then use a loose goat-hair brush to apply the powder to the affected area.
Specifically treats various ulcer toxins and necrosis, and can extract tubular granulation tissue from old chronic sores.
Herbs: *Saltpeter* (Huo Xiao), *Vitriol* (Zao Fan) [each 3 liang], *Mercury* (Shui Yin) [1.5 liang].
First grind the first two ingredients into a fine powder, then add mercury and grind until uniform. Spread into a small iron pot, cover with a large bowl. Seal the circumference of the bowl's rim with twisted cotton strips and paste. Heat with gentle fire then strong fire... if the powder is insufficient... once fully calcined... signs will appear.
Specifically treats bites from mad dogs and venomous snakes, as well as all symptoms of poisoning and pain. Preparation requires fasting and devout sincerity.
Herbs: *Realgar* (Ming Xiong Jing) [4 qian], *Prepared Calamine* (Zhi Gan Shi) [1.5 qian], *Niter* (Ya Xiao) [1.3 qian], *True Cloud Musk* (Yun She) [Dang Men Zi] [1 qian], *Borneol* (Bing Pian) [Da Mei Bing] [9 fen].
Grind each herb into a fine powder, mix evenly, and grind again until extremely fine. Store in a porcelain bottle, sealed with yellow wax to prevent leakage. For clinical use, have the patient lie supine. Apply internally to the wound.
Treats external eye disorders, including redness, swelling, photophobia, blurred vision, and corneal opacity.
Herbs: *Calamine* (Lu Gan Shi) [8 liang, preferably selected like white cloud slices and refined with sheep marrow], *Coptis Rhizome* (Huang Lian) [4 liang, remove roots, chop, soak in 4 zhong of water for half a day, steam to extract juice], *Child's Urine* (Tong Bian) [...].
First place the calamine in a silver crucible and calcine over charcoal fire until it turns green. Remove and quench with Coptis juice and child's urine. Repeat the quenching process seven times. Use pearl flakes [...] to pick out [...]
Specifically extracts old and new tubular granulation tissue from chronic sores.
Herbs: *Saltpeter* (Huo Xiao), *Vitriol* (Zao Fan), *Alum* (Bai Fan) [each 1.5 liang], *Mercury* (Shui Yin) [1 liang], *Cinnabar* (Zhu Sha), *Realgar* (Xiong Jing), *Arsenic/Mineral Salt* (Sha) [text unclear], *Table Salt* (Yan) [each 5 qian].
Grind all ingredients into fine powder, mix evenly, and load into a silver crucible. Calcine gently to form the "embryo" (core). Immediately cover with a tea bowl, occasionally lifting to inspect carefully. Continue until no moisture appears on the inside of the bowl lid. This step is crucial; be very cautious. Place a wooden foot basin filled halfway with clear water. Inside the basin, place a large porcelain bowl, and in the center of that bowl, place a porcelain plate lined with two layers of soft paper. The plate must be larger than the mouth of the silver crucible. Invert the silver crucible containing the drug embryo onto the plate. Seal the perimeter of the plate with twisted cotton strips and paste. Surround the outside of the bowl with semi-rotten field mud up to half the height of the bowl. The silver crucible should be half-exposed and half-submerged in the mud level. Ensure the exposed rim of the bowl is fully coated with mud, about 3-4 fen thick. Cover completely with red-hot cedar charcoal. Heat with gentle fire then strong fire. After two hours, remove the charcoal and allow to cool. Remove the mud and open; the pill within the silver crucible and plate should resemble white lotus root threads for the highest grade. Powder that does not form threads is also usable. If the color is yellow, it is over-calcined and may be ineffective.
