[Shengsheng Ointment Formula]
Raw Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Da Huang, 大黄) (six liang), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui, 当归), Cortex Moutan (Danpi, 丹皮), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao, 白芍), Radix Scrophulariae (Yuan Shen, 元参), Radix Angelicae Dahuricae (Baizhi, 白芷), Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Dihuang, 地黄), Radix Cimicifugae (Shengma, 升麻) (each four liang), Cortex Cinnamomi (Rougui, 肉桂) (two liang).
Decoct in Sesame Oil (Mahan You, 大麻油) until concentrated into an ointment, then add Hong Dan (Dong Dan, 东丹/Red Lead Oxide) to consolidate the ointment. Apply onto paper or cloth for external patching. Treats all kinds of external injuries. For the initial stage of peculiar ulcers, add a small amount of high-quality Borneol (Bingpian, 冰片) on top of the ointment before application.
[Zhu Sha Ointment Formula]
Specifically used for treating various unnamed swellings and toxic sores, buboes (Heng Xun, 横痃), breast boils, malignant carbuncles, and ding poison (Ling Du, 疔毒). Swellings that have not yet formed can be resolved; abscesses that have already formed can be drained. Truly a miraculous formula.
Take fifty to sixty jin of green onions, pound them until extremely mushy, and squeeze out the juice. Place the juice in a pot, add tender Pine Rosin (Songxiang, 松香) (five jin), and simmer over low heat until the onion juice boils and the pine rosin melts. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Then, knead the pine rosin in the juice by hand hundreds of times. Return to the fire to melt again and knead. Repeat this process five or six times until the pine rosin turns white and loses its oily texture. Then, incorporate the following ingredients:
Moschus (Dangmenzi, 当门子/Shexiang, 麝香) (five qian), Camphor (Zhangnao, 樟脑) (twelve liang), Plum Blossom Borneol (Meihua Bingpian, 梅花冰片) (one liang), Ricinus Communis Seed (Bimazi, 蓖麻子) (one jin, shelled and ground into paste, stored separately).
Except for the Ricinus Communis Seed, grind all other ingredients into an extremely fine powder. Place the prepared pine rosin in a porcelain mortar, melt it using a water bath, remove it, and immediately mix in the aforementioned powders and the Ricinus Communis Seed.
[General Instructions and Indications]
Select authentic medicinal materials and weigh accurately. Soak in Sesame Oil (Mahan You, 大麻油) (six jin) in a porcelain basin for five days, then decoct and spread. During the preparation of the ointment, avoid contamination by women, chickens, or dogs.
1. Migraine or frontal headache: Apply to the left side for left-sided pain, right side for right-sided pain, and the Yintang point (Yintang, 印堂) for central pain. Simultaneously, roll the ointment into strips and insert into the nostrils, while swallowing Licorice Decoction (Gancao Tang, 甘草汤).
2. Seventy-two types of eye diseases: For redness and swelling, apply to the upper corner of the ear, prick with a needle to bleed, then apply the patch. For star nebula, cloud nebula, trichiasis, and tearing in wind, roll into strips and insert into the left nostril (for left eye issues) or right nostril (for right eye issues). Frequently take Licorice Decoction.
3. Thirty-six types of throat diseases: Single tonsillitis, double tonsillitis, throat closure, and throat wind, apply above the throat. Hold Licorice Decoction in the mouth. For rapid effect, dissolve and swallow the ointment in the mouth; do not take Licorice Decoction at this time.
4. Parotid swelling and wind-fire toothache: Application stops pain immediately.
5. Various abdominal pains, stomach ache, Dantian pain: Apply directly to the painful area and take Licorice Decoction.
6. Stroke paralysis: Apply to the left side for left-sided paralysis, right side for right-sided paralysis, and take Licorice Decoction. If unconscious with rattling phlegm sounds, form the ointment into bean-sized pills, take seven pills each time with clear soup, which will instantly resolve phlegm. If the jaw is tightly closed, pry open with iron chopsticks, pour in water, or re-form into strips and insert into the nostrils. This truly has the power to revive the dying.
7. Consumption disease (Tuberculosis): Apply to the Jiaji points (Jiaji, 夹脊), hold Licorice Decoction in the mouth, and recovery occurs upon bowel movement.
8. Malaria (daily, second-day, third-day): Apply to the navel, drink Licorice Decoction. If fever has occurred four or five times, form into pills, take one hour before onset, drink several cups of hot wine, and the fever will stop on the same day. Do not drink Licorice Decoction.
9. Red and white leukorrhea: Apply below the navel to the Dantian area, frequently take Licorice Decoction.
10. Various dysenteries: Apply to the stomach area and navel. If not cured after four or five days, for bloody dysentery, crush seven shell nuts of longan, decoct in water, and take with pills; for white dysentery, use lychee shells decocted in water to take with pills. Do not take Licorice Decoction.
11. Pediatric convulsions: Eyes rolling up, asthma, and phlegm obstruction: Roll into strips and insert into nostrils, apply one patch on the navel. If critical, form into pills and take, do not drink Licorice Decoction.
12. Various pediatric malnutrition syndromes: Apply to the navel; for oral malnutrition, apply to the gums. Do not drink Licorice Decoction for oral malnutrition.
13. Amenorrhea: Apply to the Dantian. If chronic, form into pills and take. On the lower abdomen, apply Licorice powder mixed with water, coat with scallion juice. Do not take Licorice Decoction.
14. Blood stasis and masses: Apply to the navel and the mass itself, drink Licorice Decoction. For robust individuals, form into pills for daily intake, aiming for diarrhea as the therapeutic indicator.
15. Surgical ding sores: Internal administration and external application, do not drink Licorice Decoction. Back carbuncles and all kinds of carbuncles and boils: Apply to the affected area, drink Licorice Decoction daily and take pills, additionally apply to the Feishu point (Feishu, 肺俞). Do not take Licorice Decoction.
16. Chancre and foot gout: Apply inversely to the puncture site, secure with paper strips, wash and change daily, cured in ten days.
17. Intestinal wind bleeding, nocturnal emission and turbid urine: Apply to the navel, drink Licorice Decoction.
18. Hemorrhoids and fistulas: Insert rolled strips internally, apply externally.
19. Traumatic injuries: Apply to the injured area, drink Licorice Decoction.
20. Hematemesis and epistaxis: Apply to both soles of the feet, drink Licorice Decoction.
Contraindicated for pregnant women.
