Three sheng of large black soybeans (soak in water, remove the bean shells, place the shells in a silk bag, cook together with the beans until done, discard the beans, dry the shells, and reserve the decoction liquid). One jin of Honghua (Carthamus tinctorius) [Safflower] (grind into powder).
First, place one jin of Dahuang (Rheum palmatum) [Rhubarb] powder into a clean pot, add three jin of rice vinegar, simmer over low heat, stirring constantly with long wooden chopsticks, until it forms a paste. Add more vinegar and continue simmering to form a Dahuang paste. Transfer the paste into a earthenware basin for storage. Scrape off the charred residue from the bottom of the pot and include it in the subsequent grinding process:
Renshen (Panax ginseng) [Ginseng] two liang, Danggui (Angelica sinensis) [Dong Quai] one liang, Chuanxiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong) [Sichuan Lovage Rhizome] one liang (washed with wine), Xiangfu (Cyperus rotundus) [Cyperi Rhizoma] one liang (stir-fried with vinegar), Yanhusuo (Corydalis yanhusuo) [Corydalis Rhizome] one liang (stir-fried with vinegar), Cangzhu (Atractylodes lancea) [Chinese Atractylodes Rhizome] one liang (soaked in rice washing water and stir-fried), Puhuang (Typhae Pollen) [Pollen Typhae] one liang (stir-fried between papers), Fuling (Poria) [Poria] one liang, Taoren (Persicae Semen) [Peach Seed] one liang (remove skin, tips, and oil), Chuan Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) [Achyranthes Root] five qian (washed with wine), Gancao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis) [Licorice Root] five qian (roasted), Diyu (Sanguisorbae Radix) [Burnet Root] five qian (washed with wine), Chuan Qianghuo (Notopteryri Rhizoma et Radix) [Notopterygium Rhizome] five qian, Guang Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum) [Tangerine Red Peel] five qian, Baishao (Paeonia lactiflora) [White Peony Root] five qian (stir-fried with wine), Mugua (Chaenomelis Fructus) [Papaya Fruit] three qian, Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) [Green Tangerine Peel] three qian (remove albedo and stir-fried), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) [Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome] three qian (soaked in rice washing water and stir-fried), Wuyao (Linderae Radix) [Lindera Root] two liang and half qian (remove skin), Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma) [Galangal] four qian, Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) [Costus Root] four qian (prepared by soaking in wine, steaming, and pounding).
The above thirty medicinal materials, along with the previously mentioned black bean shells, are dried and ground into fine powder. Place them in a stone mortar, mix evenly with the Dahuang paste, add one jin of refined honey, and pound together for one thousand strokes to form pills, each weighing two qian.
Huisheng Dan (Revival Pill) can induce labor for difficult childbirth and dispel blood syncope, demonstrating miraculous efficacy. Difficult childbirth is often caused by qi stagnation and failure to circulate; blood syncope is frequently due to the stasis of lochia. This formula promotes the downward movement of qi and the circulation of blood.
Yiyiren (Coicis Semen) ten parts, Baijiangcao (Patriniae Herba) five parts, Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) two parts.
Grind the above three ingredients into powder. Take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure) as a dose, boil in two sheng of water until reduced by half, and take in one dose. The pathological discharge (pus/blood) should be expelled shortly after ingestion.
Intestinal abscess (Xiaochang Yong): Zhang Zhongjing detailed that when there is no accumulation mass in the abdomen, it is clearly formed by qi knotting. However, various commentators rely on the presence of Fuzi in the formula and have extensively annotated it as a condition of cold coagulation in the small intestine... (Text ends abruptly)
