Ziheche (Human Placenta) one piece (soak in rice washing water, gently separate after a prolonged period, wash with fresh water until clean and white like the complexion of Yang Fei, preferably; store in a bamboo vessel), Roushouyu (Cistanche Deserticola) seven liang (cleaned). Process the above herbs into fine powder as described. Mash the Ziheche to form pills, add an appropriate amount of refined honey. Take three qian per dose, administered in the early morning with boiling water.
The term "Da Zao" (Great Creation) implies that its efficacy is profound, akin to recreating life, hence the name. Wu Qiu from Kuocang, following the principles of Zhu Danxi, established Da Zao Wan (Great Creation Pill), which has been widely followed by the world. However, the medicinal power of this formula acts deeply within the Yin aspect, targeting the Lung meridian, with a substantial dosage.
Lurong (Deer Antler Velvet) one piece, Lu Jiao Shuang (Deer Horn Frost) (same weight as Lurong), Yangqishi (Leucogynite) five qian, Jiuzi (Leek Seed) one liang, Danshirou Roushouyu (Cistanche Deserticola) one liang, Wuweizi (Schisandra Berry) five qian, Fuling (Poria)... The above are ground into a fine powder, mixed with a paste made by boiling in wine to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take seventy pills per dose on an empty stomach, washed down with salt water.
Gu Jing Wan (Solidify Essence Pill) treats spontaneous seminal emission without dreams. Excessive sexual activity leads to essence depletion and yang deficiency. When yang is deficient, there is insufficient qi to control the essence, causing it to leak during sleep when yang sinks inward. This formula exclusively uses... to remove pathogenic factors... and promote the movement of yang... to achieve its effect.
Tingli (Descurainia Seed) (stir-fried between papers), Xingren (Apricot Kernel) (stir-fried with bran, skin and tips removed), Sangbaipí (Morus Root Bark) (chopped), Zhuling (Polyporus) (black skin removed), Zexie (Alisma), Jiaomu (Capsicum Fruit) ... each five qian. The above are pounded and sifted into powder, formed into pills with refined honey, sized like tung seeds. Take twenty pills per dose, washed down with scallion white decoction. If the condition does not improve, increase the dose to thirty pills.
*Shengji Zonglu* records: Tingli Wan (Descurainia Pill) treats Yongshui (Surging Water edema). "Yong" is sometimes written as "Yong". According to the *Neijing*, when lung cold transfers to the kidney, it is called Yongshui; this refers to formless pathogenic factors transferring to the child organ of the lung (the kidney).
Binglang (Areca Seed) (chopped), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root) (chopped and stir-fried), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) (pith removed, stir-fried with bran) each two liang, Taoren (Peach Kernel) (skin and tips removed, stir-fried with bran), Hama Ren (Hemp Seed) (stir-fried), Muxiang (Costus Root) each one liang.
*Shengji Fang* includes Qingpi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) (soaked in water, white pith removed) one liang, formed into honey pills. Take ten pills per dose, washed down with warm wine.
Binglang Wan (Areca Seed Pill) shares the same principle as Run Chang Tang (Moisten Intestines Decoction) and Tong You Tang (Open Obstruction Decoction); it is a harmonizing formula. It treats zhang masses caused by heat transferring from the Small Intestine to the Large Intestine. The Large Intestine is the fu-organ of conduction... latent pathogens... Hama Ren moistens and purges to clear heat in the Large Intestine. For diseases in the fu-organs, one should disperse and unblock; for diseases located in the lower jiao, one should exploit the situation to purge. Liu Hejian removed Qingpi to avoid mixing liver and gallbladder herbs.
