Ge's Prescription: Burn blue cloth and fumigate the wound with the smoke; the toxin will be expelled. Then, boil kudzu root (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) until thick, and use it to wash the wound. Pound dried kudzu root into powder, and take one cun-bi (a traditional Chinese measuring spoon for powder) mixed with the juice from boiling kudzu root. Take five times a day and once at night. This is optimal.
Another prescription: Chew millet and apply it to the affected area; Yao's method is the same.
Another prescription: Boil pig iron until the water acquires an iron taste, and use it to wash the wound; Yao's method is the same.
Generally, venomous beasts and insects are subject to human "forbidden qi" (a protective energy technique). When entering mountain grasslands, one should first perform this forbidden technique, as stated in canonical texts.
Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, hold your breath for thirty-five cycles of respiration, visualizing immortals bringing a tiger before you. Then visualize the White Emperor emerging from your lungs, covering the tiger's eyes with his hands. From your lower body, exhale lung qi, transforming into a figure wearing a white-tongue crown atop the mountains and forests. After a long while, hold your breath again for thirty-five cycles. Pinch the Du point (Governor Vessel) with both hands, stepping three steps forward with the right foot leading, then stop and chant: "Li Er, Li Er, was it not Li Er who painted you? You stole the Yellow Emperor's dog. The Yellow Emperor taught me to ask you, answer me. How is it?" Upon finishing, walk away; no tiger in the mountain can see you. If you encounter one, look sideways, open your left hand wide with fingers held vertically, and jump with maximum force. Move your hands up and down three times, and during the jump shout loudly: "Halt! Tiger, let the Lord of the Big Dipper command you to leave!" The tiger will flee.
When lodging, perform this facing the four directions first. Additionally, burning cattle or sheep horns prevents tigers from approaching. One may also pound realgar (Realgar) and purple quartz (Amethyst), store them in a sewn pouch, and wear it.
Attached Prescription: *Mei Shi Fang*, treats wounds caused by tiger attacks.
Simply drink alcohol until drunk; hair will be vomited out.
Prescription for treating dog bites.
First, suck out the bad blood, then moxa-heat the wound ten zhu (moxa cones). Remove the moxa ash the next day. Moxa one zhu daily until a total of one hundred zhu are completed. Yao states to avoid alcohol.
Also, take powdered sedge root (Sedii Rhizoma) orally, one cun-bi per dose. Take one to two times daily. Alternatively, apply the powder topically. Fresh sedge root pounded and applied is better.
Another prescription: Scrape tiger tooth powder or tiger bone powder, take one bi. For those already exhibiting symptoms resembling rabies, taking this medicine leads to recovery. Yao's method is the same.
Another prescription: Kill the biting dog, take its brain, and apply it to the wound; it will not recur later.
Another prescription: Pound scallion (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) juice and apply it. Drink one sheng (approx. 200ml), three times daily, until the wound heals.
Another prescription: Place powdered alum (Alumen) into the wound and wrap it. It stops the wound from deteriorating, promotes rapid healing, and is miraculous.
Another prescription: Burn human hair and snake skin into powder, mix with water, and drink one cup. If the patient has red eyes and trismus (lockjaw), crush teeth and administer forcibly. Yao states equal parts of these two substances.
Another prescription: Pound fresh rehmannia root (Rehmanniae Radix) and drink the juice. Apply the juice to the wound as well, continuing for over one hundred applications.
Another prescription: Take dried ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma) powder orally regularly, and insert it into the wound.
Generally, dog bite symptoms may flare every seven days. If there is no flare after twenty-one days (three sevens), the danger passes. Full safety is achieved after one hundred days. On each seventh day, drink two to three sheng of scallion juice. Lifelong abstinence from dog meat and silkworm pupae is required, as consuming these triggers a flare which becomes incurable. During the period before the wound heals, raw/cold foods are prohibited.
Fatty, greasy, and cold foods, especially steamed fish, or eating in environments with greasy odors, can trigger a flare. Alcohol should be avoided. Enduring for one year is ideal.
Prescription for recurrent flares.
Eat fresh toad (Bufo gargarizans) raw; it is excellent and verified. Yao's method is the same. It can also be roasted and eaten without the patient knowing. Doing this immediately after the bite prevents future flares. Yao advises peeling and swallowing it with minced garlic.
Another prescription: Pound ginger root juice and drink it; recovery follows.
Another prescription: Take vitex fruit juice (Viticis Fructus); it is also good.
Generally, for dog bites.
Apply hot ash from the stove to the wound; Yao's method is the same.
Another prescription: Melt wax over fire and pour it into the wound; Yao's method is the same.
Another prescription: Place a small amount of head dirt (sebum/scalp debris) into the wound. Apply hot cow dung on top; this is effective. Yao's method is the same.
Another prescription: Apply smartweed (Polygoni Avicularis Herba) to the wound.
Another prescription: Take two bi of dried ginger powder. Drinking half a sheng of ginger juice is also good.
Another prescription: Following the general methods for dog bites is better. Burning toads and applying alum powder is particularly good.
Dog bites are difficult to treat. Dogs that eat horse meat often go mad.
If a dog suddenly has a dry nose, red eyes, refuses food, hides from people, and shows signs of madness, it is about to go rabid. Give it goji berry juice (Lycii Fructus) and feed it porridge; it will not go mad. If it refuses porridge, apply salt to its nose; licking the salt stimulates appetite. This is highly effective.
Attached Prescription: *Mei Shi Fang*, treats bites from mad dogs.
Take a handful of peach bark (Persicae Cortex), add three sheng of water, decoct to one sheng, and drink.
Dietary Therapy, treats injuries from dog bites.
Pound raw almonds (Pruni Semen) and apply as a poultice; the wound heals.
