Whenever, during pregnancy before delivery, the breasts become hard, swollen, and painful, accompanied by alternating chills and fever, this condition is named "Neichui" (Internal Blowing). It arises from the obstruction of the Du Mai (Governor Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel), disharmony of the meridians, cold constricting the hair follicles, closure of Qi mechanism, stagnation of blood, and blockage of the mammary ducts. The treatment should employ Jiawei Wuyou San (Modified Free-from-Worry Powder).

Another prescription uses Doufupi (Tofu Skin, 1 liang), roasted until scorched, ground into powder, and taken with Sha Jiu. Another prescription uses Yuanzhi (2 liang), decocted in Sha Jiu, taken frequently. The residual dregs of Yuanzhi are mashed and applied to the hardened area of the breast; then, Jiang (Ginger) and Cong (Scallion) are mashed, mixed with a small amount of Yan Shi (Salt), spread over the Yuanzhi, and treated with Ai Jiu (Moxibustion) for seven Zhu (cones). For heavier conditions, use Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 3 qian) and Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 2 qian), stir-fried and ground into powder, mixed with Sha Jiu for oral administration. For all cases of Neichui occurring postpartum, the aforementioned prescriptions may be used.
Difficult labor at term is generally caused by excessive consumption of sweet and fatty foods, indulgence in comfort, lying down immediately after full meals, leading to a fetus surrounded by thick fat, rapid breathing upon movement, and consequently difficult parturition. It is advisable to engage in frequent physical activity when the fetus is near full term, avoid craving rich and fresh foods, avoid excessive sitting or lying, and walk diligently. This is the wonderful method of facilitating smooth delivery without medication. However, contemporary physicians believe that after stabilizing the fetus, it is necessary to administer drugs for facilitating delivery to be appropriate. They do not realize that the term "Huatai" (Slippery Fetus/Facilitating Delivery) was originally established for Princess Huyang, who lived a luxurious and idle life, resulting in obesity. There was genuine concern that accumulated body fat might solidify and make the uterine ligaments tight, so this method was specifically used to slightly relieve the stagnation of fat. If applied indiscriminately to ordinary women, whose maternal Qi and Blood are barely sufficient to nourish a single fetus, adding formulas like Wuyou San or Yisheng Tang would be akin to further depriving them, making it unbearable. Nevertheless, fearing that later generations might consider the record incomplete, two specific prescriptions are detailed here for selection by those with obese constitutions and robust endowment. In the past, Princess Huyang experienced prolonged labor lasting several days without delivery. Nanshan Daoren presented Huatai Zhike San (Slippery Fetus Aurantium Powder). It consists of Zhike (stir-fried with flour, 2 liang) and Gancao (roasted, 2 liang), ground into powder. Each dose is 2 qian, taken with plain boiling water, three times a day, yielding remarkable effects. This prescription is formulated for individuals with strong constitutions.
