Lochia (postpartum discharge) flows into the joints of the kidneys and lower back, causing either diffuse swelling or nodular masses with pain. Over time, the swelling rises, accompanied by limb fatigue. Immediately apply the Scallion Moxibustion Method to dissipate external swelling, and internally administer Shen Gui Sheng Hua Tang (Ginseng and Angelica Decoction for Generating Blood) to resolve blood stasis. For cases that have ulcerated or not yet ulcerated, refer to the treatment methods for Ru Yong (Mastitis).
Scallion Moxibustion Method
Take a handful of raw scallions, pound them into a cake, and apply it to the affected area. Cover with three or four layers of thick cloth, and use a fire pot to moxa-iron the area for immediate effect. This prescription can be used for the initial stage of carbuncles and sores.
Shen Gui Sheng Hua Tang (Ginseng and Angelica Decoction for Generating Blood)
Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 1.5 qian each), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 1.5 qian each), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 qian), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 2 qian), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 0.8 fen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 fen), Mati Xiang (Costi Root, 2 qian).
Appendix: Formula for Breast Carbuncle
Harvest a handful of fresh Dandelion (Taraxaci Herba), including roots, pound and extract the juice. Take orally mixed with wine, and apply the dregs topically to the affected area for cure.
Commentary: Regarding the treatment of Liu Zhu (Flowing Abscess), physicians use Wu Xiang San (Five Fragrances Powder), mix it with rice soup to form a cake, spread a thin layer of garlic paste on the initial site, place the Five Fragrances Cake on top, and perform moxibustion on the cake. If painful, moxa until the pain ceases and itching begins; if itching, moxa until pain begins. If neither painful nor itching, moxa until the skin and flesh become soft and pliable. Frequent moxibustion is preferred, as the toxin will naturally dissipate.
Wu Xiang San (Five Fragrances Powder)
Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Shexiang (Moschi Fermentum) in equal parts.
Grind half of these into powder, add Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Ziye (Perillae Folium), Jianghuang (Curcumae Longae Rhizoma), and Xuexie (Sanguis Draxonis), mix together to form a cake for moxibustion. It is also applicable to Yin Du (Yin Toxin), swelling and pain, and Feng Du (Wind Toxin).
If excessive effort during labor causes injury, resulting in swelling and pain on both sides of the Yin Men (vulva) and inability to extend the limbs, use seasonal scallions mixed with Rushiang (Boswelliae Resina) powder, pound into a cake, and apply to the swollen and painful area. After a long time, it will heal.
If forceful pushing during labor causes protrusion of the Yin Men, administer Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) with a small amount of Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi) for two consecutive doses. Externally, apply Ru Sheng Gao (Like-Sage Paste) to the vertex (top of the head); once slight retraction occurs, wipe it off immediately.
Commentary: Itching of the Yin Men is due to dysfunction of the Spleen and Stomach postpartum, disharmony of Qi and Blood, sinking of Zong Qi (Pectoral Qi), and downward pressure of Damp-Heat, leading to the generation of parasites in the vagina. The itching is caused by parasites feeding on the vaginal opening. Treatment should utilize Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Decoction to Supplement the Middle and Augment the Qi), removing Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and modifying according to symptoms. External treatments include fumigation, washing, and application.
Modified Bu Yi Tang (Modified Tonifying Decoction)

Use Ginger and Jujube as guides, decoct and take orally.
External Treatment Method
Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, 1 liang), Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, 3 qian), Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus, 5 stalks), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, 5 qian), Aiye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium, 3 qian).
Decoct in water. First fumigate, then wash the vaginal area. If repeated fumigation and washing do not cure, cut pork liver into large slices, brush with sesame oil, roast on a new tile until nearly cooked and fragrant. Apply while hot to the itchy vulvar area, alternating cold and heat three times. Lean pork meat can also be used; wash first, then apply. Brush with sesame oil and roast. Alternatively, use one young chicken,剖 open, boil until cooked, cook with boiling rice vinegar, and apply to the itchy area.
