The pulse of the Taiyang (Greater Yang) channel, if redness manifests on the cheekbones, indicates a Heat Disease. If the luster has not yet perished, it is predicted that sweat will be obtained today; awaiting the appropriate time, the condition will resolve spontaneously. If the Taiyang pulse appears simultaneously with the Jueyin (Terminal Yin) pulse, death will occur within three days, as the pathogenic heat qi internally connects to the Kidney.
The pulse of the Shaoyang (Lesser Yang) channel, if redness manifests on the front of the cheeks, indicates a Heat Disease. If the luster has not yet perished, it is predicted that sweat will be obtained today; awaiting the appropriate time, the condition will resolve spontaneously. If the Shaoyang pulse appears simultaneously with the Shaoyin (Lesser Yin) pulse, death will occur within three days.
In a Heat Disease lasting seven or eight days, if the pulse is minute and slight, and the patient experiences hematuria (blood in urine) and dry mouth, death will occur in one and a half days. If the pulse is Dai (intermittent), death will occur in one day.
In a Heat Disease lasting seven or eight days, if the pulse is not rapid/agitated nor frequent, it indicates that sweating will occur within the following three days. If there is no sweating after three days, death will occur on the fourth day. If sweating has not occurred at all, do not perform skin pricking (the character "Fu", in another version written as "Yong").
In a Heat Disease lasting three or four days, if the pulse is not panting/rapid and the movement is even, although the body feels irritable and hot, if spontaneous sweating occurs, life can be preserved.
It is recorded: When pathogens initially enter the Zang organs from the Fu organs, and finally Yin returns to Yang, sweating occurs, leading to recovery.
In a Heat Disease lasting seven or eight days, if the pulse is not panting/rapid and the movement is even, the prognosis is good. Slight heat remains in the Yang level without entering Yin, allowing for spontaneous sweating.
In a Heat Disease lasting seven or eight days, if the pulse is not panting/rapid but is frequent and even, the patient should become aphonic. If sweating does not occur by the third day, death will occur on the fourth day.
In a Heat Disease, if the entire body and face are yellow and swollen, with heart heat, dry mouth, curled tongue, scorched yellow-black coating, numbness of the body, and foul odor, this indicates latent toxin injuring the Lung. If the pathology strikes the Spleen, death ensues.
In a Heat Disease, if there are convulsions, delirious speech, inability to sweat, and unceasing convulsions, this indicates latent toxin injuring the Liver. If the pathology strikes the Gallbladder, death ensues.
In a Heat Disease, if there is no sweating, or sweating does not reach the feet, accompanied by vomiting bile, hematemesis (vomiting blood), and frequent fright preventing sleep, this indicates latent toxin in the Liver. If the pathology transmits to the Foot-Shaoyang (Gallbladder) Fu organ, death ensues.
In a Heat Disease, if there is abdominal fullness and distension, body heat, and inability to urinate or defecate, with a choppy, small, and rapid pulse, the appearance of one contrary sign indicates death.
In a Heat Disease, if there is borborygmus (bowel sounds) and abdominal fullness, cold limbs, and profuse watery diarrhea, with a floating, large, and surging pulse that does not subside, the appearance of two contrary signs indicates death.
In a Heat Disease, if there is continuous epistaxis (nosebleed), abdominal pain, a floating and large pulse that is extreme or cut off, panting, and shortness of breath, the appearance of three contrary signs indicates death.
In a Heat Disease, if there is vomiting and hematochezia (blood in stool), emaciation of flesh and form, severe body heat, and a pulse that is cut off, beating rapidly, the appearance of four contrary signs indicates death.
In a Heat Disease, if there is coughing and panting, palpitations, dizziness, body heat, a small and rapid pulse, and emaciation of flesh and form, the appearance of five contrary signs indicates death.
In a Heat Disease, if there is abdominal swelling and distension, cold limbs, emaciation of flesh and form, and shortness of breath, the appearance of six contrary signs indicates death within ten days.
In a Heat Disease, if there is abdominal distension and hematochezia, a large pulse that frequently becomes minute and nearly absent, sweating with panting, dry mouth and scorched tongue, and blindness (inability to see people), the appearance of seven contrary signs indicates death within ten days.
In a Heat Disease, if there is severe body heat, the pulse turns small, coughing with hematochezia, sunken eye sockets, delirious speech, picking at clothes seams, dry mouth, and restlessness preventing sleep, the appearance of eight contrary signs indicates death within one shichen (two-hour period).
In a Heat Disease, if there are convulsions,狂跑 (running wildly), inability to eat, abdominal fullness, chest pain radiating to the lower back and umbilicus, hematemesis, the appearance of nine contrary signs indicates death within one shichen.
In a Heat Disease, if there is hematemesis, panting and coughing, irritability and fullness, yellow body, drum-like abdominal distension, unceasing diarrhea, and a cut-off pulse, the appearance of ten contrary signs indicates death within one shichen.
