(Jian Hua Quan Ruo - Supervising Transformation, Authority Weak)
This refers to the four years of Ji-Mao, Ji-You, Ji-Si, and Ji-Hai. When the Year Earth Qi is insufficient, Wind Qi acts recklessly, and the Spleen (Pi Zang, 脾脏) is instead affected by pathogenic factors. Rain and water will be delayed, frequent strong winds will occur, Liver Wood (Gan Mu, 肝木) is constrained, and the people will suffer from hypochondriac pain.
(Cong Shun Ge Yi - Following Compliance, Changing Nature)
This refers to the two years of Yi-Si and Yi-Hai. When the Year Metal Qi is insufficient, Heat Qi acts recklessly, and the Lung (Fei Zang, 肺脏) is instead affected by pathogenic factors. Grass and trees become scorched and yellow; the sky is hot and the earth is dry, and the planet Mars (Ying Huo, 荧惑) shines brightly. The people will suffer from Lung萎 (Fei Wei, 肺痿 - lung atrophy/withering), alternating chills and fever, cough, and hemoptysis (Ke Xue, 咳血). If a Rebound Qi (Fu Qi, 复气) occurs, Cold Decree rises greatly, Heart Fire (Xin Huo, 心火) is constrained, and the people will suffer from Jue Xin Tong (Jue Xin Tong, 厥心痛 - cold-type heart pain).
(Liu Zhu Gan He - Flowing Injection, Drying Up)
This refers to the four years of Xin-Chou, Xin-Wei, Xin-Si, and Xin-Hai. When the Year Water Qi is insufficient, Dampness Qi acts recklessly, and the Kidney (Shen Zang, 肾脏) is instead affected by pathogenic factors. Continuous rain causes flooding; snow and frost fall late, and the planet Saturn (Zhen Xing, 镇星) shines brightly. The people will suffer from knee pain and shin swelling. If a Rebound Qi occurs, Wind Decree rises greatly, Spleen Earth (Pi Tu, 脾土) is constrained, and the people will suffer from abdominal pain and loose stools (Ru Xie, 濡泄).
(Bu He Rong Wu - Spreading Harmony, Nourishing Things)
This refers to the two years of Ding-Si and Ding-Hai. Wood Qi was originally insufficient, but it met Tian Fu (Heavenly Symbol) above for assistance, thereby achieving balance. The Qi transformation is uniform, and the people suffer few illnesses.
(Huo Qi Gao Ming - Fire Qi High and Bright)
This refers to the two years of Wu-Chen and Wu-Xu. Fire Qi was originally excessive, but it met Tian Xing (Heavenly Punishment) above to restrain it, thereby achieving balance. In the two years of Gui-Si and Gui-Hai, Fire Qi was originally insufficient, but it met Shun Hua (Smooth Transformation) above, where Heaven's Qi generates it, assisting it to achieve balance. The Qi transformation is uniform, and the people suffer few illnesses.
(Guang Bei Hua Qi - Broadly Covering Transformative Qi)
This refers to the two years of Ji-Chou and Ji-Wei. It meets Tai Yi Tian Fu (Great One Heavenly Symbol) above for assistance, thereby achieving balance. The Qi transformation is uniform, and the people suffer few illnesses.
(Qi Qing Ping Ding - Qi Clear and Peaceful)
This refers to the two years of Geng-Zi and Geng-Wu, meeting Jun Huo (Monarch Fire) above; and the two years of Geng-Yin and Geng-Shen, meeting Xiang Huo (Minister Fire) above, which is restrained by Tian Xing, reducing it to achieve balance. In the two years of Yi-Chou and Yi-Wei, it meets Shun Hua generating it; in Yi-Mao year, it meets Tian Fu; in Yi-You year, it meets Tai Yi Tian Fu for assistance, thereby achieving balance. The Qi transformation is uniform, and the people suffer few illnesses.
(Ti Qing Shun Wu - Body Clear, Compliant with Things)
This refers to the two years of Xin-Mao and Xin-You. It meets Shun Hua generating it, thereby achieving balance. The Qi transformation is uniform, and the people suffer few illnesses.
[Diagram of Excessive, Insufficient, and Balanced Movements]
Fa Sheng, Wei He, Fu He belong to the Jiao (Wood) pitch; He Xi, Fu Ming, Sheng Ming belong to the Zheng (Fire) pitch; Dun Fu, Bei Jian, Bei Hua belong to the Gong (Earth) pitch; Liu Yan, He Liu, Jing Shun belong to the Yu (Water) pitch; Jian Cheng, Cong Ge, Shen Ping belong to the Shang (Metal) pitch. These correspond to the cycles of Excess, Deficiency, and Balanced Qi.
[Diagram of Earth's Response to Six Sections]
In this diagram, the upper Qi moves to the right, and the lower Qi moves to the left. From the first section to the last, this constitutes the Di Zhu Qi (Earth Master Qi), which is static and holds its position.
[Diagram of Annual Master Qi]
This shows the sequence of positions for the annual Master Qi. The Six Qi (Liu Qi, 六气) govern the four seasons annually as usual, hence called Master Qi.
[Diagram of Annual Guest Qi]
This depicts the annual Guest Qi. For example, in Zi-Wu years, Tai Yang (Greater Yang) is the First Qi, Jue Yin (Terminal Yin) is the Second Qi, and Shao Yin (Lesser Yin) is Si Tian (Ruling Heaven) as the Third Qi; Tai Yin (Greater Yin) is the Fourth Qi, Shao Yang (Lesser Yang) is the Fifth Qi, and Yang Ming (Bright Yang) is Zai Quan (Ruling Earth) as the Sixth Qi. In Chou-Wei years, Jue Yin is the First Qi, rotating subsequently. Other years can be deduced similarly.

[Diagram of Pulse Diagnosis for Six Qi Divided and Combined into Six Parts by Time - Part 1]
[Diagram of Pulse Diagnosis for Six Qi Divided and Combined into Six Parts by Time - Part 2]
These diagrams on pulse diagnosis for Six Qi divided and combined into six parts by time were formulated by my father. They truly contain the profound principles of Six Qi and are secrets not revealed in ancient or modern times. They must be carefully contemplated and thoroughly studied. Taking the Balanced Cycle as an example: if it is an Excessive Cycle, the Qi arrives before its time, measured from thirteen days before the solar term; if it is an Insufficient Cycle, the Qi has arrived but is not fully present, measured from thirteen days after the solar term. In an Excessive Year, start counting from the Floating Position of the Left Chi (Left Cuneus) at Lichun (Start of Spring); in an Insufficient Year, start from the Middle Position of the Left Guan (Left Hinge) at Lichun, and deduce according to the sequence. By clearing the mind and regulating breath, investigating each part meticulously, seasonal diseases can be predicted in advance. If all six pulse positions are balanced, stop. If there is one that is exclusively large or small, floating or sinking, long or short, differing from other positions, judge according to the chart, and it will invariably be accurate. For instance, if the pulse at the Left Guan and Middle Position is exclusively wiry (Xian, 弦) and large (Da, 大), it is known that there will be Wind-Heat diseases around Jingzhe (Awakening of Insects) after Yushui (Rain Water), because Wiry indicates Wind and Large indicates Heat, and the Left Guan corresponds to the command of Wind Wood. If the pulse at the Right Chi Deep Position is exclusively slow/stagnant (Huan Zhi, 缓滞) and solid-large (Shi Da, 实大), it is known that there will be Damp-Heat diseases around Mangzhong (Grain in Ear) to Xiazhi (Summer Solstice), because Slow/Stagnant indicates Dampness and Solid-Large indicates Heat. If it is Slow/Stagnant and Empty-Large, it is caused by Damp-Heat and Minister Fire, because Slow/Stagnant is Dampness and Empty-Large is Minister Fire; furthermore, being in the Deep Position, Deep also indicates Dampness, and it is in the position of Minister Fire. In patients with chronic illness, if all six pulses appear turbid and stagnant, but only the pulse at the Right Cun Middle Position comes forth leisurely and harmonious, clear and unstagnant, it is known that recovery will surely occur around Shuangjiang (Frost Descent) to Dongzhi (Winter Solstice), because the Middle Position being leisurely and harmonious indicates excellent Stomach Qi (Wei Qi, 胃气); moreover, the Right Cun corresponds to the position of Lung Metal, and Earth generates Metal. Deduce the rest similarly with precision, and you will rarely miss.
