Heavenly Qi overcoming the Yearly Movement is called "Tian Xing" (Heavenly Punishment). For example, in the Gengzi year, Yi and Geng transform into Metal. The Earthly Branch Zi and Wu correspond to Shaoyin Junhuo (Lesser Yin Sovereign Fire). Fire below overcomes the Metal movement. The rest are deduced similarly.
Yearly Movement generating Heavenly Qi is called "Xiao Ni" (Minor Rebellion). For example, in the Renzi and Renwu years, Ding and Ren transform into Wood. The Earthly Branch Zi and Wu correspond to Shaoyin Junhuo (Lesser Yin Sovereign Fire). Wood above generates Fire. The rest are deduced similarly.
Yearly Movement overcoming Heavenly Qi is called "Bu He" (Disaccord). For example, in Bingzi, Bingwu, and Bing Shen years (Note: Original text says "Bing Ding", likely a typo for specific branch combinations or years), they all belong to the Sanjiang Water structure. The Earthly Branch Zi and Wu correspond to Junhuo (Sovereign Fire). Water above overcomes Fire below. The rest are deduced similarly.
"Tian Fu" (Heavenly符/Token) refers to the Central Movement matching the Si Tian (Chief of Heaven) Qi. For instance, in a Ding year with Wood Movement, if Jueyin Fengmu (Jueyin Wind-Wood) is the Si Tian Qi above, such as Ding Si, there are twelve such years in total.
"Taiyi Tianfu" (Supreme Unity Heavenly Token) occurs when, for example, in the Wuwu year, the Fire Movement and Fire Branch coincide, and Shaoyin Junhuo (Lesser Yin Sovereign Fire) is the Si Tian Qi above. The three combine to govern, totaling four years.
The combination of Tian Fu and Sui Hui (Year Meeting) is called Taiyi Tianfu. In the sixty-year cycle, Wuwu, Yiyi, Jiwei, and Jichou represent these four years of Taiyi Tianfu.
When the Yearly Movement coincides with the First Month of the Four Seasons (Si Meng Yue), it is called "Zhi De Fu" (Branch Virtue Token). For example, Yin belongs to Wood and is the First Month of Spring; in the Renyin year, Water Movement arrives. Si belongs to Fire and is the First Month of Summer; in the Guisi year, Fire Movement arrives. There are four such years in sixty years. The rest are deduced similarly.
The rhyme recording movements in the sixty-year cycle states: When Movement overcomes Qi, it is Disaccord; when Qi generates Movement, it is named Shun Hua (Smooth Transformation); when Movement is overcome by Qi, it is mostly Tian Xing (Heavenly Punishment); Xiao Ni (Minor Rebellion) appears when Movement generates Qi; when Qi and Movement combine, it is Tian Fu (Heavenly Token).
When the Yearly Movement coincides with the Heavenly Stem of the Jiao Si Ri (Day of Transition/Solstice-Start), it is called "Gan De Fu" (Stem Virtue Token), such as Jia combining with Ji, Yi with Geng, etc. If one year encounters these two stem combinations, the Heaven and Earth virtues harmonize, also constituting a Ping Qi (Balanced Qi) year.
The Five Movements and Six Qi rub against and agitate each other, adding above and descending below. The records of the sixty-year cycle cannot be perfectly uniform.
There are five types of Excessive Movements: Wood is called Fa Sheng (Initiating Growth), Fire is called He Xi (Blazing Heat), Earth is called Dun Fu (Mounded High), Metal is called Jian Cheng (Firm Completion), and Water is called Liu Yan (Overflowing Flow).
There are five types of Deficient Movements: Wood is called Wei He (Withered Harmony), Fire is called Fu Ming (Hidden Brightness), Earth is called Bei Jian (Low Supervision), Metal is called Cong Ge (Following Change), and Water is called He Liu (Dried Stream).
There are five types of Balanced Movements: Wood is called Fu He (Spreading Harmony), Fire is called Sheng Ming (Ascending Brightness), Earth is called Bei Hua (Complete Transformation), Metal is called Shen Ping (Judging Peace), and Water is called Jing Shun (Quiet Obedience).
Excess leads to bullying what one can overcome and insulting what one cannot overcome; insulted, one suffers evil, due to a lack of fear/reverence. Deficiency allows those who overcome oneself to bully, and the Child must avenge the Mother.
