Treats various diseases of the sinews and bones. Manifesting as paralysis of the hands and feet, inability to walk or move.
Herbs: Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, raw, skin and umbilicus removed; select those with white flesh), Muguaizi (Strychni Semen, shell removed, separately ground), Baijiaoxiang (Boswelliae Carthartici Resina), Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces) (each 3 liang 5 qian), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (1 liang).
Grind the above into powder. Use 1 jin of powder from black beans (soybeans) that have been peeled and pounded raw. Cook into a paste with vinegar to serve as a binder. Form pills the size of chicken eggs. Take one pill per dose, ground in wine and swallowed. For diseases of the sinews and bones, provided there has been no injury to the sinews and collaterals caused by acupuncture or moxibustion, taking four or five pills will certainly be effective. My neighbor Mr. Hu had a daughter whose wrists were weak, unable to stand or walk for several years. While visiting Jingyin Buddhist Temple, he spoke with a monk. One monk claimed he could cure it, took ten pills out of his pouch, and gave four to Mr. Hu, saying, "Taking these will cure her." Mr. Hu followed this advice, and the girl was subsequently able to stand. Mr. Hu went back to the temple to request more medicine. The monk said it was not out of stinginess but because he wished to keep some for his own use. If he insisted on obtaining it, he must prepare a full batch. Mr. Hu offered one thousand coins, which the monk declined, accepting only one hundred. A few days later, Mr. Hu received the medicine and returned all the remaining money. The monk at the same temple assisted him in processing the herbs; it turned out this formula was plagiarized. When I arrived in Jiaxing, there was a child in a local alley, over ten years old, unable to walk with both feet. I divided one pill into three doses for him. After taking a total of four or five pills, he was able to walk. From then on, this medicine became widely known, its efficacy being very remarkable. This medicine can unblock Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive qi), guide the meridians, and specifically treats diseases of the Heart, Kidney, and Liver meridians. After taking it, slight dribbling of urine may occur, which is a sign of the drug's effect.
Treats thirty-six types of wind disorders, twenty-four types of cold conditions, Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries, all types of dysentery, long-term deficiency of the Spleen and Stomach, loss of appetite, weakness in the four limbs, difficulty in rising and stopping movements, red and scanty urine, recurrent mouth ulcers lasting years that do not heal with prolonged treatment. As long as this method is followed, recovery is certain.
Herbs: Yinchen (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (each half liang), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens dried), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Zishen (Periplocae Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus), Guangui (Cinnamomi Cortex) (skin removed), Baiwuyi (Chloranthi Fructus), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus) (each 1 liang).
Grind the above fifteen ingredients together into powder. Take one sheep liver. If unavailable, substitute with a pig liver. Divide into three portions. Cleanly remove blood vessels, fat, and membranes. Cut finely. Mix with five qian of the powder and one stalk of scallion white (cut finely). Wrap tightly in three to five layers of wet paper. Dig a pit in the ground, place fire inside, and roast until fragrant and cooked. In the morning, chew and swallow with ginger decoction. For severe cold exhaustion, effectiveness will appear within no more than three doses. Diao Canjun from Luzhou suffered from chronic diarrhea and dysentery for a long time, becoming black and thin as ink. Various methods failed to cure him. After taking one or two doses of this medicine, he passed black fluid, and his condition stabilized.
