Treats long-standing Fanwei (regurgitation, characterized by vomiting undigested food from the previous day) and infantile vomiting due to fright, as recorded in *Zhu Tu Bing Yi*.
Take high-quality Liu Huang (Sulfur, 0.5 liang, finely ground) and Shui Yin (Mercury, 1 fen, repeatedly ground with Sulfur until no mercury particles are visible).
Grind these substances together until they resemble black coal powder. For each dose, take 3 qian. Extract juice from 4 liang of fresh ginger, add one zhan of wine, and decoct together with the ginger juice. Once cooked, mix well and take on an empty stomach. Cover the body with clothing and blankets; sweating should begin from the toes and gradually spread over the entire body. The disease will be cured once sweating occurs.
There was once a patient suffering from Fanwei who vomited immediately after eating, with symptoms starting in the afternoon, lasting for three years without cure. Imperial physicians such as Sun Zhao tried various treatments without success. The patient became extremely emaciated, dry, dark, and skeletal. A guard named Ji Ji saw this and said, "This is easy to treat; one dose will cure it." Initially, no one believed him. One day, he was allowed to prepare the medicine, given some money to buy ingredients, and his servant brought the medicine the next day. After taking just one dose, the condition resolved. When using this powder for children, adjust the dosage according to the child's size, administering 1 qian to 1 zi, mixed with cold water. Vomiting will stop immediately. This powder is extremely light and difficult to mix; first, add a few drops of water and grind slowly to increase its weight, then gradually add liquid to ensure uniform mixing. If poured directly into soup or wine, it will float entirely on the surface and cannot be taken.
Additionally, the wife of my former subordinate Chen Xuande suffered from Fanwei for over a year. She took Wutou San (Aconite Powder) and was cured after one dose. Also, Sun Sheng from Chu had a formula called Zhuyu Wan (Evodia Pill), which also treats Fanwei. This was passed down by him personally and is included here. Comparing these three formulas, only Tianji San contains principles of balancing Yin and Yang, ensuring rapid efficacy. Both Wutou San and Zhuyu Wan have hot properties; users should administer them based on the patient's organ coldness or heat.
Wutou (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 3 liang, processed and peeled) Chuanlianzi (Toosendan Fructus, 1.5 liang) Binglang (Arecae Semen) Muxiang (Vladimiriae Root, 1 liang each)
Grind all into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, decoct in one zhan of water until reduced to 0.7 zhan, add a pinch of salt, and take warm.
*Sun Sheng's Record*: Chronic Geqi (diaphragmatic qi stagnation) and Fanwei. Food eaten during the day is completely vomited up at night, undigested. There is often phlegm-saliva above the diaphragm, occasional hematemesis (vomiting blood), excessive sour fluid in the chest, and vomiting of clear water. Vomiting occurs day and night, often continuing until evening. The patient becomes increasingly emaciated, suffers from abdominal pain, sometimes experiences cold diarrhea, and sometimes constipation. Symptoms are too numerous to describe fully. Having suffered for six years, vomiting five to seven times daily, with no other method effective, upon encountering this method and taking it for two months, all diseases were cured. I wished to disseminate this method to save others. The formula is as follows:
Zhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, 3 fen, heated on tile to remove oil) Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 5 qian each) Gancao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang; half raw, half wrapped in paper five to seven layers, soaked in vinegar, slow-roasted in fire until dry, repeated seven times) Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, 1 liang, soaked in juice of 4 liang fresh ginger in a clay pot)
Grind all into powder. Make pills using Banxia paste. If too hard, add ginger juice. Shape into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 7 pills per dose, decocted in water prepared from Sangzhi (Muli) and Liuzhi (Willow Twig) in a fine silver vessel. Swallow with the decoction, three times daily. Avoid toxic foods. Only consume oily pork pancreas, spleen, and soft rice, as narrated by Sun Sheng.
