This is a modified formula of Lizhong Decoction (Replenish the Middle Decoction). For conditions such as deficiency in the Spleen and Kidney, where pungent-dry herbs are indicated, formulas like Lizhong Tang (Replenish the Middle Decoction) or Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) should be used; where warming and nourishing Yin-blood is indicated, formulas like Linyin Jian (Nourish Yin Infusion) or Daying Jian (Great Camp Infusion) should be used. To understand how to regulate and tonify, one must first examine these distinctions. This formula treats generally true Yin deficiency, abdominal distension and fullness, vomiting and hiccups, phlegm-fluid causing nausea, vomiting and diarrhea with abdominal pain, and in women, delayed menstruation with blood stasis.
