Located on the lateral side of the fifth toe, approximately the width of a leek leaf away from the corner of the nail. Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. Indications: Rhinorrhea (Biqiu). Western Zi adds: Also indicates tinnitus and deafness, pain in the chest and hypochondrium with no fixed location, pulling and acute pain between the waist and hypochondrium, difficult urination, seminal emission, wind-cold pathogens originating from the fifth toe causing Mai-bi (meridian obstruction) moving up and down, eye nebulae (cataracts), head wind with nasal congestion, muscle spasms, malaria with alternating chills and fever without sweating, and heat under the feet.
Located in the depression anterior to the proximal interphalangeal joint on the lateral side of the fifth toe. Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. Indications: Heavy head and headache, aversion to cold, fever, and sweating without aversion to cold, neck stiffness as if being pulled, inability to turn the head left or right. Indicates accumulation and retained fluid, Pi-nang (masses) with chest fullness and fluid retention, heart pain, rhinorrhea, susceptibility to fright leading to symptoms, epistaxis, neck pain, chest fullness, and indigestion.
Located in the depression posterior to the proximal interphalangeal joint on the lateral side of the fifth toe. Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. Indicates intestinal borborygmus and diarrhea, epilepsy with mutual traction of limbs, susceptibility to fright, and bleating like a sheep. Indicates epilepsy, severe emaciation, red eyes, inflammation and ulceration of the inner eyelids, deafness, aversion to wind and cold, and neck stiffness preventing looking back.
Located in the depression below the large bone on the lateral foot, at the junction of red and white skin. Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. Indicates white nebulae in the eyes, eyeballs turning upward exposing the sclera, lesions starting from the medial canthus, and vertigo. Indicates heat in the head, epistaxis, nasal obstruction, yellow nasal discharge, continuous bleeding from the nose, dripping urine, biting one's own lips, aversion to cold and pain in the back, stiffness of the spine and neck making flexion and extension difficult, foot contracture, cold feet, spinal spasm with opisthotonos, madness and falling; malaria with alternating chills and fever, palpitations due to fright, anorexia, epilepsy with running and madness, and pain in the thigh pivot area.
Located in the depression below the lateral malleolus, at the junction of the white skin accommodating the nail (Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones). Indicates eyeballs turning upward and staring, resembling red and painful eyes, lesions starting from the medial canthus; low back pain preventing rising, alternating cold and heat in the shins, inability to stand for long periods, sensation of sitting in a rocking boat or carriage, epilepsy, dysfunction of the Cou-li (pores/cuticle), and continuous epistaxis.
Located in the depression below the lateral malleolus (Original note: also known as Guanliang point). Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. Indicates epilepsy, Ma-xian (horse-type epilepsy) and Shi-jue (corpse fainting), sudden death, muscle spasms, Huoluan (cholera-like disorder), soreness of the legs, body trembling with inability to stand for long periods; pediatric epilepsy with open mouth, head shaking, and body opisthotonos.
