[Green Bean]
Sweet in taste, cold in nature, non-toxic. Born from the yin qi within the earth. Adversely interacts with Torreyia shell; harmful to humans.
[Indications] Mainly treats erysipelas with vexatious heat, wind-rash, and the onset of drug/mineral toxicity. Treats hot qi Ben Tun (a condition characterized by a sensation of Qi rushing up). [Kaibao] Stops sudden diarrhea and dysentery, promotes urination, and relieves intestinal fullness. [Sino-Gastrointestinal-Bean-Heart-Mind]
[Meridian Tropism] Enters the Stomach meridian, and also enters the Heart meridian. It is a substance for clearing heat and detoxifying.
[Preliminary Discussion] Wu Rui stated: The flesh of the green bean is neutral, while the skin is cold. It can resolve all toxins from metals, stones, arsenic, and herbs. It should be ground raw with the skin and taken with fresh well water.
[Contraindications] Jingshu stated: Contraindicated for those with Spleen-Stomach deficiency-cold and loose stools.

[Winter Melon]
Sweet in taste, slightly cold in nature, non-toxic. Born from the yin qi of the earth. Can ascend and descend; it is Yang within Yin.
[Indications] Mainly treats abdominal distension with fluid accumulation, promotes urination, and stops thirst. [Bielu] Removes chest and heart fullness, eliminates heat from the head and face. [Meng Shen] Greatly resolves heat toxins, reduces abscesses. [Daming] Treats...
[Meridian Tropism] Enters the Spleen, Stomach, Large Intestine, and Small Intestine meridians. It is a substance that clears heat and benefits the Spleen.
[Preliminary Discussion] Danxi stated: Winter melon has a moving and rapid nature. Kou Shi said it disperses heat toxin vapors, also attributing this to its moving and rapid nature.
[Contraindications] Jingshu stated: Winter melon is cold and purgative. It is suitable for those with heat in the Zang-Fu organs. Contraindicated for those with deficiency-cold, cold Kidneys, or chronic loose stools.

[Benjing] Convulsions and epilepsy, vexatious heat below the heart, wandering wind-pathogens, epidemic headaches, releases the muscle layer, resolves urgency below the heart, kills dog poison. [Bielu] Clears Lung heat, benefits the reversal of Qi in the chest and diaphragm. [Yuansu] Treats... [Da Apricot Kernel] Mainly stops cough, moves Qi downward, resolves rebellion and stuffiness between the heart and abdomen. [Zhengyao]
