曰水曰雨曰乌,肾之癞也。
This condition initially presents with lumps and nodules, gradually accompanied by fever, vomiting, or yellowish edema. The swellings vary in size: large ones like chicken eggs, small ones like pellets, or resembling hemp seeds and beans. Once they rupture, ulcers form, discharging pus that is fishy and foul-smelling. This results from the Spleen being invaded by "thief pathogens" due to long-term consumption of roasted, cracked, toxic poultry, beasts, fish, and turtles. If treated urgently, it can be cured; however, if left for six years, the disease progresses rapidly. People who smell the patient's breath may contract the illness, causing great harm.
This pathology involves the toxin of "Earth Leprosy" (Tu Lai) lurking and injecting into the Spleen, flowing into the four limbs, resulting in heaviness and difficulty in movement. The elbows, knees, hands, and feet rot, discharging foul-smelling pus and blood, with fingers and toes potentially necrotizing and falling off. Swelling becomes as thick as a cart axle. Paralysis and putrefaction occur, exposing bones and joints directly, leading to death from extreme pain and exhaustion. Alternatively, it may manifest on the chest, ribs, and back, starting as swelling resembling a mass, later rupturing and rotting, leading to death from piercing pain and wailing over time.
Those referred to as Metal Leprosy (Jin Lai), Facial Leprosy (Mian Lai), or White Leprosy (Bai Lai) belong to the Lung organ.
Initially, this condition resembles a bayberry fruit, lacking an outer shell, with inner flesh appearing fragmented, exuding purple-red rotten flowers, protruding distinctly like a bayberry. This occurs because toxins enter the Lung Meridian. Soon after, eyebrows and eyelashes fall out. After three years, the nasal bridge collapses, eyes evert, and lips sever. This is considered a heavenly punishment, a disaster caused by yin emptiness and spiritual malevolence. Residual toxins remain within; only prolonged treatment can reverse it. Heavenly will differs from other types of leprosy; it cannot heal quickly.
This condition arises when Metal Leprosy appears healed but residual toxins persist, corroding and remaining in the Lungs. This generates lesions resembling fine worms found in flour, turning the entire body pale white with mottled patches all over. It may resemble bi syndrome (painful obstruction) or tinea, looking like wind-eroded mud walls. Only external fumigation and washing can achieve efficacy.
This condition is caused by evil toxins brewing and attacking from cold, heat, dampness, and summerheat qi, filling and blocking the lung orifices. Accumulated malignant worms corrode and bite the lung tubes, causing hoarse voice, dim vision, stubborn paralysis of limbs, joint pain, internal sensation of burning fire, dryness and heat in the chest and heart, stiffness and tension in the dorsum of hands/feet and spine, muscle pain as if gouged or hacked. Consequently, urticaria appears on the body and limbs, nasal polyps grow, qi stagnation prevents free flow, turbid rhinorrhea and salivation occur, the shangen (root of the nose) swells high, the forehead hurts intermittently, or white nebulae form on the eyes causing blindness. Nasal carbuncles are common. Externally, no sores appear. People do not recognize this type of leprosy, hence treatments fail.
Those referred to as Water Leprosy (Shui Lai), Rain Leprosy (Yu Lai), or Black Leprosy (Wu Lai) belong to the Kidney organ.
