This condition initially presents with dry, white skin all over the body, gradually developing floating pruritus (itching), numbness, and small sores. These evolve into large plum-blossom-shaped lesions, resembling fish belly skin scraped by a knife, or the patterns on a snake's back. Scratching due to itching causes pain, and yellow exudate may appear. The patient is sensitive to both cold and heat; symptoms may resemble elm tree bark shedding, varying in size, commonly known as Elm Skin Wind (Yupi Feng). If it spreads and ulcerates, causing a foul-smelling, purulent, and bloody discharge throughout the body, this is due to the depletion of Qi and Blood. The failure of Primordial Yang (Yuan Yang) allows Cold-Dampness and Wind pathogens to flow freely through the limbs. Furthermore, encountering violent anger, resentment, sexual exhaustion, or dietary imbalances that harm the Zang-Fu organs can lead to deep pathogenic invasion, severely damaging the body. It is appropriate to treat with Da Xiao Feng San (Great Wind-Expelling Powder), Yi Li Jin Dan (One-Pill Golden Elixir), Huo Long San (Fire Dragon Powder), and other medicines. This represents the harm caused by Heart Meridian toxic stagnation transmitting to the Fu organs.
Initially, this condition may present with occasional sadness, drunken-like rambling, terror, weeping while facing the wall, disordered speech, singing and laughing, or silence. The patient may suffer from nightmares, sleep paralysis ("ghost pressing"), or hallucinations of intercourse with spirits. There are alternating chills and fever, chest and abdominal fullness and oppression, shortness of breath, and anorexia. Ancient texts call this "Qi Zhu" (Qi Stagnation/Transmission), also known as "Violent Wind." Upon entering temples, the patient may speak deliriously, cry out, laugh hysterically, exhibit heaviness and pallor, eventually leading to paralysis, severe body pain, and critical debility. This results from damage to Wind-Water and Yin-Yang, where ghosts, demons, fright, or shock disturb the Heart, or where excessive worry and fantasy cause pathogenic confusion of the Heart Orifice and depletion of Heart Fluids. Quickly use Sou Feng Shun Qi Wan (Search Wind and Smooth Qi Pill) to dispel Wind, move Qi, calm the Heart, nourish Blood, and stabilize the Primordial Spirit. Combined with internal supportive therapy to rescue Qi and Blood, recovery is possible.
This condition begins between the skin and flesh, feeling as if blood is infusing the whole body and filling the muscles, resembling the sensation of being beaten with a staff. Blood blisters and edema may form. Symptoms fluctuate diurnally: when Yang Qi dominates, they are worse in the morning and better in the evening; when Yin Qi dominates, they are worse at night and better in the morning. Epistaxis, hematemesis, or hemoptysis may occur. The patient may prefer lying down, experience hiccups (Yu HT), or belch with acid reflux. Bleeding may occur intermittently from the gums, accompanied by facial swelling, eye pain, and splitting headache. Red patches like coins may appear, causing numbness, pain, or swelling; if these break, bleeding may not stop. Hematochezia may also occur. Blood deficiency leads to spasms and cramps in the extremities; Blood exhaustion leads to physical deformity, scorched Spirit, and gradual death. This is caused by Heart toxicity flowing into the Liver Meridian, with Fire blazing, Blood flooding, extreme pathogenic Heat, and outward spreading of Wind-Dampness. Etiologies include exposure to Wind and Dampness, sexual activity after overeating or drinking, aggressive behavior, swimming or exposure to wind, angry drinking, starvation, or overexertion, leading to pathogenic attack, fatigue, and weakness. Treatment should involve Bu Jiu Tang (Restore Old Decoction), Qian Gao Gao (Lead-Mercury Ointment), Er Ba Ji Yang Dan (Two-Eight Yang-Nourishing Pill), etc., to scatter pathogens, descend Fire, clear Qi, and nourish Ying (Nutritive) Qi to save life. Goose Palm Wind, Drumstick Wind, Blood Bi, Gao Wind, Tong Feng (Gout), and Dian Feng all originate from the Liver Meridian.
