[Xue Ji] Nang Yong (Scrotal Abscess) belongs to Damp-Heat in the Liver Meridian, or is caused by congenital Liver Heat inherited from the fetus. At the initial stage, with swelling and pain, and red, scanty, and painful urination, it indicates Damp-Heat stagnation; treat first with Longdan Xiegan Tang (Gentiana Decoction to Drain the Liver). If it does not subside, use Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Life Elixir). If swelling and pain persist for several days without resolution, indicating impending suppuration, use Tuoli Xiaodu San (Supporting the Interior and Resolving Toxin Powder). If swelling has not ulcerated but urination is difficult, this is toxin stagnation; one should promote diuresis to separate and drain. If pus has formed but urination remains difficult, the toxins have not been resolved; one should puncture to drain the pus. If pain persists after pus discharge, it indicates Qi and Blood deficiency; tonification is required. If Yuan Qi (Primal Qi) is not depleted, even if the entire scrotum ulcerates and the testicles are exposed, it will not cause harm. If the infant suffers from this due to the wet nurse's anger, use Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder). For cases of Liver Meridian Qi and Blood deficiency, use Bazhen San (Eight Treasures Powder) or Jiawei Chaihu combined with Shanzhi (Gardenia), both added with Loulu (Radix Euphorbiae Humifusae), taken by both mother and child.
Tuoli Qinggan San (Supporting the Interior and Clearing Liver Powder)
Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, stir-fried), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, stir-fried), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, stir-fried), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) (each 0.7 fen), Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus) (0.4 fen).
Grind the above into powder. Take 2-3 qian per dose, decoct in water.
Qian Shi Leiwan San (Qian's Earthworm Powder): Treats Kidney Zi (testicular) swelling and hardness. First wash with Congjiao Tang (Green Onion and Pepper Decoction), then apply a paste made of dry earthworm feces mixed with saliva to the affected area. Avoid wind, cold, and damp places.
Popular folk remedy for pediatric scrotal enlargement: Decoct Gancao (Licorice Root) to make a thick juice, mix with earthworm feces, and apply; effect is immediate.
Shanyao Gao (Dioscorea Ointment): Treats swelling, pain, or itching in the axillae/groin and lower abdomen. Grind Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) until mushy, apply frequently to the lesion, and replace when dry.
[Xue Ji] Foot frostbite is caused by constitutional deficiency and weakness, making the body susceptible to Cold Evil invasion. This leads to Qi and Blood stasis. If prolonged and unresolved, it ulcerates into sores. The treatment method requires strengthening the Spleen and Stomach and warming the Qi and Blood, so that necrotic tissue sloughs off naturally and healthy tissue regenerates. If bone is exposed and tendons are connected, the necrotic part should be promptly excised; otherwise, toxins spreading to the dorsum of the foot may lead to death. In the extremities, Qi and Blood are hard to reach and are obstructed by external pathogens, preventing circulation. If hot water or fire is used, the flesh dies and becomes insensible; by spring, it must ulcerate, rot, and fall off. If Yuan Qi is intact, the condition is harmless. However, if cold-natured topical medicines are applied or detoxifying internal medicines are ingested, Yuan Qi will be damaged, inevitably leading to a fatal outcome. It is best to frequently rub the frozen area with warm hands at the initial stage. In the North, for frozen ears, do not mistakenly touch them with bare hands, or the ears will fall off. Extreme cold indeed cracks skin and causes digits to drop off, which is true.
Tang Shi Shengfu San (Tang's Raw Aconite Powder): Treats gangrenous foot sores. Use powder of raw Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) mixed with flour and water, apply topically; it heals.
Bailian San (Ampelopsis Powder)
Use Bailian (Ampelopsis Radix) (1 liang) and Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried until black) (5 qian). Grind into powder and sprinkle dry onto the affected area.
