*Ying Tong Bao Jian* discusses that in children, intestinal cold (Cold of the Intestines) leads to the discharge of white pus accompanied by abdominal pain.
*Lu Xin Jing* treats "cold-toxin gan dysentery" (a chronic wasting diarrhea caused by cold-toxin) in children, characterized by white pus, "gan dian" (dark complexion or turbid eyes), progressive emaciation and weakness, anorexia, and abdominal pain.
Formula: Qingmuxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 1 fen) Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 0.5 liang)
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of *Cerasus japonica* seeds. For children over one year old, take one pill on an empty stomach with warm water; for children aged three to five, take two pills. The medicinal nature is hot, so it should not be taken in excess. Avoid raw and cold foods. *Taiping Shenghui Fang* records the treatment of cold-heat dysentery (Dysentery with mixed cold and heat patterns) using equal parts of these two herbs.
*Ge Shi Zhou Hou Fang* Ji Zi Bing (Egg Cake) treats sudden-onset cold dysentery in children during autumn and summer, presenting with abdominal distension, alternating chills and fever, and leukorrhea-like discharge.
Usage: Take one egg, one pill of Hufen (Lead Carbonate), crush it, sieve through silk, and mix with the egg yolk and white. Grind and blend together, then cook until done, resembling a regular egg cake. A one-year-old child eats half a cake per meal, twice a day. Do not exceed two cakes total for recovery. For older children, double the dosage. This cake is suitable for children who are too emaciated and weak to tolerate herbal medicine.
*Wang Shi Shou Ji* treats pure pus-white dysentery in adults and children with miraculous efficacy. Zhi Fu Wan (Lard-Fuzi Pill)
Da Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, one piece)
Usage: First render lard (Porcine Adipose Tissue) to obtain approximately half a cup of oil. Dip the aforementioned Fuzi in the oil until it cracks, remove it, let it cool, peel off the skin and navel area, and grind into a fine powder. Mix with jujube pulp to form pills. Adult pills are the size of *Cerasus japonica* seeds; pediatric pills are the size of mung beans. Take 5–7 to 15–20 pills per dose, washed down with rice decoction. Take on an empty stomach before meals.
*Zhu Shi Jia Chuan* treats pediatric white-pus cold dysentery with colic below the umbilicus.
Formula: Hezi Pi (Terminaliae Chebulae Pericarpium) Qingmuxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (equal parts)
Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix with glutinous rice flour to form pills the size of mung beans. Take five pills with rice decoction.
Fuzi San (Aconite Powder), transmitted by Ding Shifa, a physician from Changsha, treats pediatric gan dysentery, often with white pus in the stool and abdominal pain.
Formula: Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, peeled, de-eyed, one piece) Longgu (Fossil Bones) Chishizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum) (each 0.5 liang) Mituosen (Litharge) Huangdan (Minii Oxidum) Hufen (Lead Carbonate, stir-fried) Wouyu Gu (Sepiae Endoconcha, calcined to ash) Chishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) (each 1 fen)
Grind all ingredients into powder. Take half a qian per dose, washed down with rice decoction, three times a day.
